Ever since Sekai Project acquired the license for Maitetsu, there has been discussion, speculation and hope among the internet; "Sekai Project, will there be an 18+ version?". "Sekai Project, where is the adult version?". "Sekai Project, will we receive those hardcopies on time this go around?" and so on. But I - as well as many others - highly doubt that this will happen. Therefore, I am quite confident to announce the following bet: IF Sekai Project (not a fanbased translation group) confirms a full1 18+ version of Maitetsu at any point between now and the official release, I will change my current Avatar to one voted by community2. This is the one time chance for the community to break my status as an eternal user, who has not once changed his avatar. However, should I win the bet, everyone who bet against me will have to wear the TexasDice avatar for 1 week. Further rules: - 1Full means no content is left out. A partial adult release will not count. - 2Every User who bets against me, will add one week to my punishment, should I lose. (example: Should three people bet against me and win, I'll wear the punishment avatar for 3 weeks.) - In case of my loss, I'll gather suggestions for my punishment-avatar and let you decide which one to wear via Strawpoll. The suggestions can't break any Forum rules, keep that in mind. - Bets given after I lost obviously won't add to the punishment time. - [Placeholder for future Questions/clarification] Good gambling everyone. Participants: EDIT: The Sign Up period is over, FUTHER SUBMISSIONS WILL BE INGORED - Texas Dice August 2nd 20166 points

http://store.steampowered.com/app/485040 https://vndb.org/v16610#main Yeah, so this is coming out of nowhere. Licensed and published by Degica, the folks behind the Muv Luv Kickstarter, yet seemingly advertized nowhere other than Famitsu. The english title will be "Nurse Love Addiction," and it will be on Steam June 16th, seven days from now. I don't know much about this, the art looks kinda cute and it's medium length with several girls, so it seems like it has some meat to it. You may recognize Kogado Studio as the developer behind Symphonic Rain, by the way. Most of their VNs have some form of gameplay to them, but this one seems to have so such thing. So yeah, that's happening. I guess sometimes it's nice to just get a release without being bombarded by months or years of hype. edit: Replaced famitsu link with the Steam store page since that's up and I missed it before.4 points

Quite sleepy, and just look at this. Looks like it'll be Dergonu's one of his favorite VN. From the seiyuu, it was mix between senior and newcomer one. I couldn't talk about newcomer, but at least I knew that we had Yukari Tamura and Asami Imai here. For the premise, looks like it'll be about nurse school (Speaking about that, Sonohana also had same premise for more recent game). And I think it's quite good if we based it on VNDB average vote (7.95 right now), although right now it's only had 10 votes though. Since this is Kogado, we better obviously not expected any H-Scenes from them (Now that I think about it, this game obviously perfect candidate for Steam, so will we see many Kogado games entering Steam in the future). And about the gameplay thing, I didn't knew what kind of gameplay they'll offer here, or rather I didn't knew if this VN had the gameplay or not. That's all for my comment at this point about this news. PS - Just browse youtube for this VN OP, and saw this playlist. Just watch it if you wonder what kind of this VN is (Thanks for the video and translation, billybob300c).2 points

Fuwanovel Osu! Thread
Chronopolis and one other reacted to Ceris for a topic
That's really sad to hear I'm probably in the state of "addicted to osu", but I don't care. While I do try to put a lot of emphasis on getting better, I want to get better because I genuinely enjoy osu as a game, just as a competitive one. I love music. I spent my childhood not listening to much music, and not until middle school did I start listening to anything once internet became part of my every day life. My music library has never been the most impressive in size, and only listened to random stuff my friends listened to, but I always loved just listening to stuff, so I didn't care. And then osu came along. osu completely changed my music library from just a few rock bands I listened to, to a large variety of music. It was the sort of shifting point (even though it's soo weeb like) to me primarily listening to Japanese music, which I personally don't regret. And at the same time, I can enjoy the game BECAUSE I can play along to my favorite songs. In fact, some of my favorite songs are BECAUSE I played them on osu so much. I didn't play them to go up a leaderboard, and there weren't songs I played for pp and hated (I really refuse to play shit I don't like). osu made me discovery utaite, which made me go listen to more of them outside of osu, and in turn made me come back to osu just to play the game with songs I liked. While I do get unreasonably angry at the game when I play badly, other times I'll just not care and keep playing, because I personally do actually enjoy the game. I've played osu for 3 years, and don't regret any of it. There's actually so many times I've said out loud to my friend over chat "I'm fine with xxx being my highest PP score, I love this song!" And then usually end up choking, but it's just the way I think. I like this song, and I like my highest PP scores being songs I like. Hell, nearly every song on the first page of performances is songs I like (I can see maybe 1-2 glancing through that are songs I find meh) Without osu, I would have never discovered these songs. The third song, I play an unranked version all the time because it's fun, and not even to get better or for ranking purpose.2 points -
Fuwanovel Confessions
Funyarinpa reacted to Kenshin_sama for a topic
If you're interested in the series enough, read the LN before watching the anime. The adaption doesn't do much justice to the protagonist, but it's fun to watch if you know him well enough from the source. It's one of my favorite books, too. Confession: I'm having a little bit of an identity crisis right now. I don't know if all of you have seen my post about it on Clephas' blog entry about gaming addiction, but I've recently given up on competitive gaming. Honestly, this is why I hate being depressed so much, it's nothing but a vicious cycle that takes more effort to cope with than it needs to. Looking back on it, I feel like I've always had a weak foundation for certain aspects of my life I could identify myself with. Whether it was sports, academics, or being the oldest and most appreciated child in the family, these things I once took pride in during my school years never lasted long afterwards. As with my enlistment, that part of me that I once identified with has since diminished since I got out. The thing that remained after that and up until now was competitive gaming. I felt like it was the only thing I could really put a lot of time and effort into, and I managed to get some great results because of it. However, there were a number of things associated with that aspect of my life that were keeping me from doing what I needed to. Having that lack of something that defined who I was is taking it's toll on me though, and I'm not having a lot of luck with deciding what I need to do next. I've tried looking at an article for dealing with identity crisis, but the steps I need to take in dealing with it seem overwhelming. On the plus side, I'm at least getting to know myself a little better.1 point -

Completely agree. Majikoi S was such a disappointment in my eyes. My picks would be Gahkthun and Majikoi S. Both disappointed Mr quite a bit. I guess Euphoria also disappointed me as well, but not as much as Gahkthun and Majikoi S.1 point -
The art is gorgeous, but I'm probably not going to pick this up unless it gets really good reviews. On the other hand, if Kogado brought over anything from Kuroneko-san's team, I'd pick up that 12+-year-old game in a heartbeat. But of course I can see why that would sound crazy to them, and frankly would probably be a bad business decision anyway; they probably have no idea the reputation Symphonic Rain has over here, and naturally decided to bring over their latest and greatest.1 point

though many Majikoi lovers might get angry but i don't really like the Majikoi S (though liked Majikoi nd looking forward to Majikoi A).....cause according to me there were too many forcefully included sex scenes which decreases the fun part of the story (though it's totally my view).......though i hvn't played too many untranslated VN's but i also didn't liked Ikusa Megami and it's sequels......1 point -

Hey man, don't worry about responding a bit late. Especially with me, as I am no longer as active as I used to be. Also, your criticisms about a lot of the article having too much summery is completely justified. At the time I wrote this, I wanted people who had not read Kanon (but didn't care about spoilers) to be able to understand it. So I included a lot more summery then I should have. Also, I wanted people who hadn't obsessed over Kanon as much as I had, to remember the key points that I would be referencing. In any case, this was my first serious analysis of a VN, and I my over inclusion of summery was admittedly a key fault. Regarding the rest of what you said, particularly about Sayuri. I see how you could see her ending as happy, especially with her last words. But I think what makes the ending particularly complex, is that the final CG does contradict a happy ending. She claims to be looking forward to the future. But we see no proof of this. She still refers to Yuuichi formally (if I remember correctly), and her last thought, is of remembering her brother. Thus showing that while she claims to be looking towards the future, in reality she is still hindered by her past too much. Another crucial point, is that Sayuri can not be happy with only Mai, or only Yuuichi. She requires the two of them. And this seems to be true of Mai as well. In both of their respective endings, all three of them end up together. Mai and Sayuri have an inseparable relationship, but they are incapable of giving each other true happiness. Yuuichi is needed for them to all finally be happy. But unlike Sayuri's ending, Mai's is very clear that she has found her path to happiness. While Sayuri's route contradicts her well meaning words with the final CG. This is all I have to say for now. Unfortunately it has been a while since I have last been able to seriously close read Kanon. But I'm glad to have run into you. You are probably the only other person I have met who loves Kanon to the same degree I used to. And at this current state in time, you have probably surpassed me. As over this past year, I have lost a lot of the enthusiasm I used to have with VNs. But it will remain a story that is close to my heart, and it is really nice to know that there is somebody else out there that loves it enough to write thousands of words about it. For the longest time I used to be alone in this obsession with Kanon. I honestly do feel that it is the strongest work by KEY (even better than Clannad in my view).1 point

No current mobile platform allows 18+ content to be sold through official retailers (digital or physical). For PS Vita and Nintendo consoles you're basically doomed since you have to sell through official retailers. For Android your only choice would be to share the application through unofficial channels, but I doubt that would net you any tangible profit worth the cost, and this is not taking into account the hardware limitations (which, granted, aren't that bad nowadays, but still are inferior to PC). Until this scenario changes, I'm never going to support mobile ports over adult content.1 point

Haha, I can totally relate in reading perhaps too deeply into Mai's route. And while I do disagree with you on your "True route argument", I definitely agree with you when you said "Mai's route is the most in-depth and complex of all the routes". This is certainly true, and Mai's route has fascinated me for quite a while. Mai's route is certainly isolated from the other routes. That fact that you could never even meet with Mai once if you read the other routes only emphasizes this. As you pointed out, she is a precursor to Ayu. But I do not see how the two are connected at all. Furthermore, if there were a "True Route", I don't see why it would not be Ayu's. Most of the endings in the VN are connected to the last miracle she grants (Nayuki, Shiori, and of course Ayu herself). However, while I can't buy the argument that Mai's is the "true route", I don't feel it matters whether her route is or not the "true one". What is true, and what we both agree on, is that hers is the most interesting and has the most complexity to it. And I would agree that while Mai is an incredibly tragic character, Sayuri is even sadder (If you are curious about why I think this, I elaborate in my analysis of Mai and Sayuri). At least Mai can get a happy ending, even in Sayuri's side route, she has no happy ending if you think about it. But what I find even more fascinating than that, is that both Sayuri and Mai are fundamentally intertwined. What is most tragic about Mai, is how she is destroying herself. She fights the Demon's out of denial, and more than anything, self-denial. She hates herself, and feels that she is irredeemable. And it is in this horrid depression that she and Sayuri are fundimently connected. They both hate themselves, but love the other. But neither can make the other truly happy, as they are sub-consciously connected by their self-loathing. Only with Yuuichi's intervention can Mai ever attain happiness again. And only with Yuuichi's involvement will Sayuri even begin hating herself less. Back on point to what you were arguing. If I understood it correctly, you were saying that Mai wanted Yuuichi to achieve a sense of closure with Ayu so that he can then emotionally dedicate himself to Mai. At least, that is how I understood this sentence that you wrote " Mai's power, in this case, may allowed Ayu a chance to reconnect with Yuuichi and give him a sense of closure so he can be better equipped emotionally to help Mai. " But I think this is forgetting that Mai is completely self-involved. She would never think of something so elaborate like that, because she is too busy self-loathing to involve herself with other people. Infact, that is the very essence of the tragedy of Mai. That she is too busy hating, and destroying herself, to involve herself with anybody (and this includes Ayu or any of the other heroines). The only person (other than Yuuichi) that she is capable of involving herself with, is another individual who hates herself just as much.1 point

People's obsession with race contributes more towards segregation and reinforces racism more than it does fix it. Wanting to ascertain people solely by the color of their skin and not by anything else in something like a movie or the Oscars is, imo, incredibly disrespectful to all the actors, regardless of their skin color, because you're seeing them as either white people or black people and not for who they are, actors with different personalities and talent. I don't want to see a black person win an oscar just because they're black, I want them to win an oscar because they had a good performance, and I'd feel incredibly insulted if my worth was judged solely based on my skin color. I don't want people to cast a role in a movie based on people's skin color, I want them to cast whoever performs the best. And it should be like this for everything. Maybe I just don't get it because I was never in the US but I just don't get the obsession with having everything be a race issue. It's such a divisive way of thinking. They do make one fair point though, having an already clearly established character suddenly change skin colors is pretty retarded, merely because of historical/narrative accuracy. This is valid for both sides though. Also John Boyega's performance in Star Wars was freaking glorious and made the movie shine, it's a shame people were so adamant about him just because he was black; that I agree is stupid and shouldn't be a thing in this day and age.1 point
