Chronotopia: Second Skin [Dark Fairytale/Drama/Commercial] [GxG/GxB] New KS & new demo!
Narcosis and 2 others reacted to Helianthus for a topic
We're now back on Kickstarter! Try our updated demo, tell us what you think, and consider giving some money to our new Kickstarter if you liked it Chronotopia: Second Skin is a dark rewriting of the fairytale Donkeyskin: princess Kionna lives a peaceful existence in her castle, enjoying her days with her best friend and confidant, Nahima. That is until her father, gone mad since the death of his beloved, decides he should wed the princess instead. Kionna has to find a way to escape from this fate, but how? She doesn’t know it yet, but it’s the beginning of a long nightmare that will take her to the edge of madness. Inspired by a wide range of influences (literature, anime, videogames), Chronotopia is a unique and more mature take on a forgotten fairytale that includes many twists and choices that affect the ending: the princess can either escape with her servant, become a fairy, or die a horrible death. Multiple times. It’s up to you to save …or doom her. A unique take on a forgotten fairytale with many twists Branching story with around 10 endings and 30 hours of playtime An optional archives system to learn more about folklore Two GxG (Nahima and the Fairy) and one GxB (the "Prince") romances possible! Beautiful artwork, with animated backgrounds and special stained-glass illustrations A full original soundtrack with celtic influences Extensive use of RenPy 3D camera for a more dynamic presentation Several segments allowing you to freely explore the castle to discover its secrets Demo available on itchio (Window, Mac, Linux) Website | Devblog | Twitter | Facebook | Tumblr | VNDB Writing / Programming / Project Leader: Helia Art: Anako, Adirosa, Mae, PyriteKite, MelowBee Music: Butterfly Tea, Roganis English Translation: MelesBadger3 points -

Anyone else wish/hope more visual novels have a route style more similar to Sharin no Kuni?
solidbatman and 2 others reacted to Deep Blue for a topic
Well sharin no kuni is a VN with linear plot, you can have different endings and some things will change here and there depending on your choices (most of the time H-scenes ) but overall it's an straight line/path story. I love those types of VNs (and kinetic!) because the story is most of the time more coherent and better developed rather than when you have 6 girls and the main character suffers from dissociative identity disorder, he acts in some way with girl A and total different with girl B and so on, still him being the same fucking person (this doesnt happen in all vns but in most of them it does..) or some girls you just know that they are filler just to add extra hours because their routes are so bland and cliched...3 points -
http://fuwanovel.net/reviews/2016/07/22/the-labyrinth-of-grisaia/ Hay guys! After way too much delay, I finally got this one out the door. Special thanks to flutterz as always for editing it. I snuck that paragraph on the nature of the cut Steam version at the last minute because it seems like there are still a lot of questions swirling around that aspect. In short: The steam version definitely feels like a complete game.3 points

Eating Ramen with 'Izumi Curtis' Review
masster_auron and one other reacted to littleshogun for a blog entry
Visual Novel Translation Status (07/23/2016) I know that the woman beside Yuuji who eat ramen there wasn't Izumi Curtis from Fullmetal Alchemist (Hence the quotation). In fact her name was Kusakabe Asako, Yuuji's deceased master and actually from the spoiler that I read looks like Asako had shower some though love to Yuuji, just like Izumi to Elric brothers. Okay, enough my opinion about Asako here and let's review this week VNTS. To be honest, Afterglow here (The source VNTS picture) wasn't the big news to me here, but rather it was Yoake leaked patch. About Yoake patch actually this should be a big news there, considering that Yoake was from August, which as we knew was in some sort of curse that their game wasn't fully translated. Yet this time we had one August game fully translated even though it's still maybe unfinished here. To conclude Reddit situation, if Decay still want to wait for Erengy patch, go ahead but I think while maybe the patch was unpolished, it's still serviceable for full Yoake translation patch imo. Okay, let's not speaking about sticky situation there and let's try to continue my review here. For Sekai, there's no meaningful progress there to me other than Chrono Clock reaching 26.31% translated and Rakuen was halfway translated. JAST, it's usual business for them ie no update. Oh, and other than Afterglow release, Frontwing also released Corona Blossom demo which from next week release I'll call this Corona Blossom Volume 1. In regard of Sharin, too bad Frontwing cancelled Sharin Kickstarter though. Guess it's not get much attention here, considering it didn't managed to gather half of it (Only around 50,000 out of 140,000 fund gathered). Fan Translation There's still no update from Luna Translation here, so in this case I'll add the update in here later. Both of Bishoujo Mangekyou and Tsui Yuri still give their usual update here, good job (Mangekyou was 25.7% edited and 16% edited (Congratulations for re-releasing prologue patch by the way), while Tsui Yuri was 55% translated and 53% edited). From Hanasaki we had Hikari's route at 35% translated. As for Tsukiyori, we had 22% Luna's route translated for the progress, and overall translation progress for Tsukiyori was at 33%. For last update here, once again while I suspect that Akerou will ask Sekai to license Irotoridori later, I'm still give the progress here (By the way for the progress it was 19% translated). Overall for this week, other than slightly controversial Yoake leaked patch it was only usual update here. Mangagamer This week we had many update from them as expected. In fact there's so many of them that I'll list it below Both of Da Capo 3 and Bokuten finally fully edited Himawari finally entering beta testing Hadaka Shitsuji 17% translated Pygmalion 32% edited Suki Suki 63% translated Kyonyuu Fantasy released at September 9th Fata Morgana Fandisc was at a quarter (25%) translated Evangile W was 55% translated and a quarter edited Imopara 2 was 48% translated and 30% edited Kuroinu 82% translated and 21% edited For overall progress, Suki Suki here was had fast progress here, although the reason here could be just like back when Kyonyuu Fantasy was announced and suddenly it'll be ready for released. Speaking about Kyonyuu Fantasy, if some of you find the Funbag name was quite silly ie ridiculous, blame Arunaru for that because it was his idea for the localization title according to his Twitter. Da Capo 3 and Bokuten fully edited here should be a good news of course, and hopefully it'll be had quick scripting here unlike Himawari. Although for Bokuten it should be quick if we talk about scripting because Overdrive had some connection with Mangagamer here. For Himawari, finally they entering the testing after they had scripting process for so long here, and this is should be good news for anyone who waited for this, especially Decay. Pygmalion, I wonder if my word here started to becoming true in regard of 8% editing progress for each 2 weeks. For the rest, no much comment for now. That's all for my VNTS Review at this week. See you next week. Edit - There's an update from Luna translation, but beforehand let me said that they'll decided to do biweekly update from now on. As for the progress we had Majokoi 28% translated and 15% edited, while for Witch Garden there's very slightly progress in translation (217 more lines translated) and 9% TLC. That's all for their update, and let's see in 2 weeks later for their progress. Edit 2 - Dracu Riot Completion Project released heavily edited patch here according to Fiddle. And he said sorry for in 2 months that he couldn't deliver his promise. Although he said that the translation from now on will move quickly though. Personally what I care here wasn't their decision to change British English to American English, but rather that they apparently still not translating the last half part of Miu's route. But whatever, it's their decision though and if the translation will go quicker, then so be it. Also, maybe they could release the complete patch in Christmas to, you know for celebrating one year of Noble Works patch release.2 points -

It's my first time posting in the community forum threads so an introduction seemed appropriate. (◍>◡<◍) Hi! My name is Mayline (pronounced like Meiling) and I recently graduated from college with a major in Psychology. I love almost anything involving strawberries and shoujo with magical and/or hard-working, determined girls. My favorite shoujo series include Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, Cardcaptor Sakura, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Kimi ni Todoke, Ouran High School Host Club, Sailor Moon, Special A, and Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. I especially love the tokidoki character, Stellina the Unicorno! Every now and then, I enjoy making paper stars. I also love to play video games, mainly role-playing (e.g. The Legend of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Okami, and Odin Sphere)! The absolute favorite thing in the world to me however is being helpful to others, but also to myself first and foremost! That`s about it, so nice to meet you! (*≧∀≦*)/ I look forward to being a member of the Fuwanovel Forums community. Important Note: While I majored in Psychology, that doesn't mean I remember everything and am pursuing a career in the field. I'm just saying. XD2 points -
The situation is as follows: Da Capo is bad. Painfully so. General consensus says that Kotori is the only worthwhile route in it (excluding D.C.P.C and Nosebleed being a Miharu fanboy) Da Capo 2 is actually really solid. The only drop is Koko's route, because it's utter trash, but everything else is at least okay. So most people recommend just reading D.C 2 right away, but I enjoyed it a lot more after suffering through one route of Da Capo 1, because there are quite a few tie-ins between the two titles. - - - - - - - - - - Texas Advdice: Read the improved version of Kotori's route from the Kotori Fandisk and afterwards, go to Da Capo 2. That's the best of both worlds and more than enough to understand everything.2 points

Luna Translations Weekly Update 10
Fred the Barber and one other reacted to Aizen-Sama for a blog entry
Okay, here we go again. This is our 10th blog update, but it will be our last weekly update. Why's that? Giving weekly updates has been a hassle lately, because preogress is made every week but I'm left with no things to talk about, so after a debate in our group we ultimately decided to go for Bi-Weekly Updates (Except when important announcements have to be made). I'll start the rundown of things, this'll be a short one: Majo Koi Nikki So, the progress (as I said in the last update) has recuperated both in Translation and Editing. We recruited a stable TLC to check the text for us now (thanks by the way, @Shiru) aaand yeah, that's pretty much it. TL: 28% (11185/40208) Edit: 15% (6166/40208) Witch's Garden Same news around here. Steady progress in Translation (although it's pretty slow considering we're focusing on TLC), Editing will finally start for real in a week or so and TLC progresses, nothing else to say tbh. We maybe start translating the interface soon, but we'll see. Translation: 63%(42627/67197) TLC: 9%(5933/67197) Editing: 4%(2951/67197)2 points -

I had a similar first impression about the... exaggerated flamboyance of the new cast and setting. DR was always a bit wacky in its own right, but DR2 takes it to a whole 'nother level. They eventually grew on me though, to the point I considered DR2 > DR1. We'll see how it goes for you though BTW, Who's best girl so far for ya? ~~ Rin has the potential to be my most favorite VN tsun tsun of all time; if you think about it, she's a glorified Louise: is a mage, has a waaay better familiar, sassier, and is in an appropriate setting/environment for having such traits... Too bad she doesn't have pink hair I especially enjoyed her last minute pep talk in Fate's route (though, pls don't give me any more heart attacks ._.)2 points -

Ayana and one other reacted to Helianthus for a topic
Hello there, I'm Helia/Helianthus and, as you would probably guess, I'm a big fan of visual novel (and anime) I have rather dififcult tastes though: what I like the most is deep, psychological themes, possibly depressing stuff. That's why some of my favorites are Saya no Uta, Yume Miru Kusuri, Narcissu, Kara no Shoujo and the Infinity series. Especially Remember11 which is very well written. Well, except for the ending (of lack thereof). Needless to say, I'm one of the people waiting for SubaHibi TL since forever Ah and I'm very fond of English visual novel in general. I'm also making my own under the Träumendes Mädchen team since more than four years now. We were hobbyist for a while but we recently decided to make a bold move and become a real company. So I'll be sharing our first commercial project soon if you don't mind. Beware though, we do make pretty unique stuff...2 points -

If you don't know how Sharin's route style it's basically set where the main plot and character development of every heroine is always canon no matter which route you take (outside bad endings of course). This is due to a chapter system. The only scenes that are different are H scenes you get during / after a route and some ending scenes for the couple. One thing that bugs me from time to time is how some heroines' (and even males/MCs) development is reset in other routes, especially if there are VNs with 'true' routes. There are some VNs where technically all the development happens but not in the same timeline/universe (won't say due to spoilers) but I'm not talking about VNs that do this in a convoluted way. Whether it's a chapter system or just some way for all major planned heroines/characters to get development in one story but still getting the option to choose who you end up would be nice to me. Consistency is the main key. I guess the only flaws of this system I could think of are: You're forced to go through the development of characters you don't care about. This could cause people to not like the VN as much especially if they love the typical route system. Some may argue you might as well just make this a linear/kinetic visual novel if you do it this way and not even worry about getting with different girls? Anyways, while I'm not sure if I'd want this to be the standard I'd like for more visual novels to try this method more even if it's not the popular method. What do you guys think? Would you want this method to be tried more or do you prefer the typical route system?1 point

Well then i really enjoyed the story , even some plot twist i could predict would happen , the write somehow was still able to surprise me , i love the art , it looked like a misture of the italian renaissance art (http://italianrenaissanceresources.com/wp-content/themes/nga/images/home-unit-1.jpg) with your average anime style art , the ost was...,well it was so good that i cant even begin to describe so instead i just put some of my favorites ones here ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeOUQYNoOPI&index=10&list=PL1cFLEd7jERztNiN43JVOSP_kEzJaFlWn , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATMCU3i6-1c&index=23&list=PL1cFLEd7jERztNiN43JVOSP_kEzJaFlWn , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phboVbQawV4&list=PL1cFLEd7jERztNiN43JVOSP_kEzJaFlWn&index=29 ) , well as you can see i almost liked everything there was to like , the only problem was that rarely i would find some grammar errors in the text , that was the only reason i did not give it a 10/10 ps: i do not have a VNDB account , the reason is that i never believe it would be most of use to me , since i would only have one to be able to know all the visual novels that i read , but since i write all the visual novels that i read in a notebook that i have , i never had that problem. Thank you for reading this.1 point

why is that so? because they mentioned not having any plans of working together with august at the moment? did you even consider the possibility of them might having already tried, but got refused? maybee another publisher has already striked a deal, or august simply wants to do it by themselves, same as frontwing, makura etc etc etc. not to mention the worst case scenario of august NOT having any interest in the western market in the first place. as you see there´s a little bit more to a title getting licensed by company a-c than just telling the jp-devs "yo our fans want that title", or by spamming twitter in hopes of it working out in the end. sure your actions were birthed of good intend and somehow understandable, but licensing procedures, or anything related to suchalike are a delicate matters that could very much backfire hard if an (carefully) approached company´s speaksman/ceo/staffmember were put in the situation of feeling harassed by a rioting fandom.1 point -

The game doesn't have routes like in Kajitsu. The actual main route is separate from the after routes. You can read it in any order you want. The after routes continues the story from the routes in Kajitsu, and the main route is a new "what if" route that doesn't use any main heroine. EDIT: Ah, also keep in mind that the current steam version is a censored version with all H-content removed, (which might sound like nothing, but the game has a lot of it,) so I'd wait for the full Denpasoft release if you want to play it in its original state.1 point -
