New Danganronpa V3- New trailer
Onodera Punpun and 4 others reacted to Funyarinpa for a topic
The trailer was revealed during the press conference today by Sony Computer Entertainment Asia (essentially Playstation in Japan). I also hear that this week's Famitsu will have a feature about the game. I've already seen a couple scans floating around. The ahoge robot dude we were led to believe is apparently is NOT the protagonist, but a newly revealed female character. Love her design myself. I'm so fucking game for this. New OSTs are dope too. Kodaka just fucking fuck my fucking shit right up.5 points -

First of all: If you don't like Katawa Shoujo, don't fool yourself into thinking you do. A lot of people like it, sure, but if you're not feeling it and it just feels like you're forcing yourself to read out of obligation, then maybe it's not the story for you. I remember dozens of people raving about Grisaia no Kaijitsu when it had just been translated. I gave it a solid 5-6 hours before putting it down, never to play it again. It just wasn't for me, and there's nothing wrong with that. That said, if this is a general issue with restlessness and an inability to relax...try settling into a comfortable position, maybe make a favourite beverage, turn off your messaging programmes/close your browser, and enjoy it full-screen? It's a pretty easy read, like comfort food in VN format.3 points

Thank you for all the enjoyment I have gotten from Fuwanovel over the coarse of my stay. Thank you Tay, Nayleen, Nosebleed, Solidbatman, Decay, Rooke, KosakiFag, Madvanced, Ken-kun, Flutflut, Tiag, and everyone else on Fuwanovel for giving me a place to go and talk about the things I enjoy. I've recently moved into a new house and with it I want to do things differently. It's my senior year of High School, I've lost 70 pounds over the last year, I've gotten more friends, and I just want to do things differently, simple as that. I'll still be on Discord, Skype, and Steam for anyone wanting to talk. Again, thank you One last Inori (a re-post but it's my favorite). I really loved this site <32 points

Random VNs: Tayutama Kiss on My Deity (edit: and the FD)
Funnerific and one other reacted to Clephas for a blog entry
First, let me say that this was the very first non-violent VN I played after jumping into Japanese-language (untranslated) VNs. I should also say that it was the one that taught me that even a VN of this type (what I later came to call a charage) could have a truly solid story. This VN is the reason I'm frequently willing to give charage the benefit of the doubt, and it is also the reason why I became somewhat obsessed with ojousama heroines. Mifuyu is still one of the better ojousama heroines I've seen, both setting-wise and as a character. My second playthrough of this game gave me an even greater appreciation for what makes it stand out... and made me once again dust off my hopes that one day LoS will stop making kusoge (three kusoge in five years is a bit much). There are points of this VN that I found irritating both now and the first time I played it. Those points haven't really changed, though. The biggest one is that the story is set up so that the bulk of the events don't change, until after the prologue>3 common story arcs are over. While this can be called a common route... the fact is that the order in which they occur is altered by which heroine you chose, but you still have to go through the same events (with a mixture of unread and read text) three times after your first, with only minor changes. This is a mild irritation but still an irritation. The upside is that the common route itself is actually fairly well-written, so that you can get a good idea of what each of the heroines is like in the common story arcs, so you don't feel left behind when things move on to the heroine arc (which is relatively short compared to the main story arcs). A lot of the reason for the way this game is done is that the canon/true heroine of the game is Masshiro... and her path is emphasized more strongly (and is longer) compared to the others (I really recommend that you play Masshiro's last or Masshiro's only... one or the other). The protagonist, Yuuri, is the only child of the priest of the Yachimata Shrine and a direct descendant of Masshiro's 'progenitor's' former master/ally (the full extent of the relationship isn't revealed, save for on Kikurami no Hime's side). He is a fairly normal young man (yes, that was already the staple of what I came to call charage by then) with a passion for fixing bikes and a fondness for the shrine he grew up in. Despite his problems with Ameri, he is actually fairly perceptive, with an intuitive grasp of concepts that some people have to seriously think to get at. Nonetheless, he is ultimately just a 'normal' guy who happened to get involved with this mess. One thing I think a lot of people who read this will be... amused by is the h-scenes. To be blunt, all the things that can go wrong with a person's first experience with sex can and do go wrong in this VN. The 'girl has an orgasm the first time' trope that has defined most h-scenes since the beginning of the current decade isn't present in this VN, and that actually has an effect on the heroines' stories at times. I say it is laugh-worthy because I spent most of my first ten VNs laughing rather than fapping to h-scenes... I literally spewed soda on my monitor during one of the h-scenes in Jingai Makyou, lol. On the other side of things from Masshiro is Ameri... which is in a lot of ways the opposite of Masshiro. To be honest, having Ameri as a heroine kind of pushes things. Tsundere osananajimi have never been one of my drugs of choice, and Ameri is one of the worst of those. She makes a great side-character and semi-antagonist, but as a heroine...? Her path is also the most... pessimistic of the paths, at least in part because Ameri was also the heroine that had the most difficulty with the Tayutai as a species of being in the first place. Yumina's path is... pleasant. I like Yumina as a character, as she grows throughout the story when you pick her. In the later part of the game when you choose her, she has matured immensely, and her ending is one of those ones that just makes you want to smile in pleasure at the characters' happiness and that of those around them. If you like heroine paths that end up warm and normally happy, this is a good path for you. Mafuyu is in a lot of ways the ideal modern woman (if you ignore her setting). She is intelligent, capable, wise within the limits of the society she was born into and lives in, and is capable of accepting other people's advice (to some extent) without automatically assuming she is always right... once she trusts them. Other than Masshiro, her path is the strongest in this VN, and I honestly think her personality is the most interesting. She has become something of an archetype for a lot of similar characters over the years, but her view on Japanese society was the cause of one of my first post-VN epiphanies that broke part of my weaboo armor. That said, she isn't perfect... while she is willing to give those she trusts the benefit of the doubt, she can have a tendency to dismiss the opinions of those she doesn't yet trust outright, at times. Her best quality at times like those is her ability to admit when she was wrong. Mashiro is... Mashiro. She is the enfleshed reincarnation of Kikurami, who sealed herself away along with the other Tayutai some five hundred years before the beginning of the story. She has a lot of old-fashioned thought patterns, and a somewhat one-track mind when it comes to the things she believes are necessary. She desires the coexistence of humans and Tayutai above all other things, and her affection for Yuuri is an odd mix of her own personal love, memories of Yachimata Kageharu inherited from Kikurami, and her need for him as an ally to deal with the other escaped Tayutai leaders (in other words, she is complicated). Some people have trouble with her as a heroine because she is more than a little pushy and is sometimes inconsiderate of others' circumstances... not to mention that her idea of basic training resembles that of a drill sergeant from hell at first, lol. For all her courteous nature, she is kind of scary when she snaps, though. Mashiro's heroine path is my favorite non-tragic immortal heroine path in a charage. I say this because a lot of immortal heroine paths tend to have... weak endings. Moege immortal heroines in particular tend to 'lose their immortality' somewhere along the way, which is irritating since I don't see a reason why they should give it up, lol. A lot of that comes from the Japanese unspoken taboo against exceeding by too much or falling too far below society's norms. Exceptional individuals tend to end up isolated and the less-capable looked down on as human trash, when societal impulses are left to their own devices over there, lol. Anyway, I am immensely fond of how they wrap up this path, and I wish all other immortal heroine paths would at least take it as an example of the ideal. Overall, this is a VN that exemplifies what is best in the fantasy charage sub-genre, breathing life into a set of characters that have remained in my heart strongly, even to this day. I can honestly say that I enjoyed replaying this VN almost as much as I enjoyed playing it the first time, which is rare in my case with a charage. If there is a downside to having used this VN as my starting point for charage, it is that so few manage to reach the same level, lol. PS: The joke story that opens from the main screen when you finish the entire game is hilarious. The second story that pops up on the bottom is Kikurami's past, and it is a fairly sad story, with a linguistic level that will probably stump most newbies. Edit: Adding It's happy Days fandisc Tayutama It's happy Days It's Happy Days is the fandisc to Tayutama, providing a side-story and extended after story for Mashiro. The side-stories The side-stories cover time spent at an onsen ryokan (hot springs inn) where various events occur and you watch a few h-scenes. For those who wanted to know what it was like for Yuuri immediately after the ending (as opposed to five hundred years later) with Mashiro or Mafuyu, it is a nice treat. The extended After-story The extended after-story is just that... an extension of Mashiro's ending that fills in gaps in the conversation and gives you an idea of what happened between the end and the epilogue of the original game through conversation.2 points -

Gin'iro Haruka general thoughts.
Mr Poltroon reacted to Deep Blue for a blog entry
Bethly After many...many...many hours of reading I finally finished one route which I think is enough since one route in this VN feels like finishing a long VN on itself, also picking a different girl feels incorrect at this point, like I'm cheating someone... (forgive me Bethly ) Giniro is a pure love story, slice of life with some very mild drama(almost non existent), most of it consist on developing the bonds between the main character and his group of friends(only females) and later on the girl you chose from that group. This VN shows you that each one of the girls has a great potential inside of them but they wont be able to use it on their own, they are like rough diamonds, with the help of the main character will "unleash" they full potential(it sounds like an action vn xD), is not like they will turn out to be unhappy or anything like that but each one of them wont fully accomplish their respective dreams or reach their full potential on their own. This might be a little spoilerish but Yuzuki wont become a great chef, Mizuka wont reach the first place in the figure skating thing she does, Bethly wont become a famous illustrator, Hinata wont even be able to realize what her true dream is in the first place, finally Momiji won't become a great actress. Another thing to point out is that while all the girls hang around the main character they actually dont love him in secret or anything, in fact it's a long process for each one of them, the only exception to this is your non blood related sister, which is kind of sad since she starts tearing up every time she realizes that she wont be able to be with the person she loves. The first part, which is the common route is really long and from there you go into the heroine route which is again really long. It's so freaking long that the vn itself thinks that you are an idiot without memory and re-introduces you the characters like 3 times at some different points... There are 5 heroines to chose from: *Yuzuki, your non-blood related sister, she is really shy and probably the "loli" of the group but she works very hard and even though I admit I hate the imouto heroine type this one didn't feel that bad. *Mizuha, your childhood friend, again the VN surprisingly didn't go for the cliche thing of the "childhood promise" or anything like that (well, it did but it was pretty subtle and it was also resolved very early in the game without forcing you to pick her just out of pity) she is some kind of figure skating star, to be fair I found her to be the most boring character, specially because I have 0 interest in what she does, so meh. *Hinata, the best friend of your sister, she is amazing and really charming, has this quirk way of speaking and expressing herself, most of the users on the internet hate her and her voice acting for some reason, she loves everything about girl stuff (like clothing, hair, how a girl should act etc etc) very sharp and lively, a true energetic type of character. *Momiji, she goes to the same class as the MC and thus they become friends, she loves acting and has a very normal character overall, still I found her to be one of the most interesting character... I almost do her route but at the last moment I went for... *Bethly, she is probably the character that most of us will chose because she is the foreign girl, she is from Canada and at first she doesn't speak any Japanese so it's kinda of funny to see how she struggles in every situation (the vn doesn't really do a good job portraying this...just a decent job.) She likes to draw, has a really calm personally and a great sense of morality, she is also very stubborn, finally she is the girl I picked. *Finally the MC (Yukito or whatever name you used for him, I recommend to leave his default name), he is for my taste.... a bit too perfect, he is a perfect student, friend, son, boyfriend, husband, father..you name something and he is perfect in that, not because he does everything in a perfect way but because he doesn't have a glimpse of malice or egoism in him, which is hard to believe. He has a very strong sense of duty and morality and wants to help anyone that needs it, very proactive, he is not naive and doesn't behave like a retard in front of the opposite sex... he is... yep perfect, which was a bit of a let down for me.. because him being that way takes away many opportunities from the novel thus the drama in the VN it's almost non existent or very predictable. There is a reason why he is like that but still I didn't like it. The pace in this vn is slow, really slow, for example you won't kiss the heroine until much much later on into the story(let's not even talk about having sex xD), if you don't enjoy slice of life then you will hate this vn because that's pretty much what it is. It's hard to compare anything with this or find some equivalents but the closest thing that I can think of is nagisa's route in Clannad (if you take out the funny parts with sunohara and pretty much everything else) and all the heavy drama. It does have some funny parts here and there (most of them are generated either from Hinata or an school teacher that you find later on and occasionally from the MC's biological mother.) I chose Bethly and later on I regret it, I really wanted to pick momiji or hinata but at that point it was too late... Bethly's route was ok, but her inability to speak Japanese was what it kinda ruined it for me, I came to hate the words うれ fucking しい and おいしいい, you will hear those words probably more than 500 times in the novel (or more and no I'm not joking), yes, it's tasty and yes you are happy "I got it" I really do but just stooooooooooooooooooooooooop, this again is something that makes sense in the context of what it's going on but it just pissed me off really bad. On the other side, it's really interesting to see how the characters grow(mentally and physically too) and how your relation with the main heroine gets stronger by the passage of time, it reminded me a lot of my own experience with my ex lol so in that sense it's pretty realistic and also maybe boring for some readers. Now I will force myself to finish momiji's route even though I'm not very sure if I will be able to do so What I liked it: The music. Very rich characters development. Amazing art. Some really good and interesting characters that I won't be able to enjoy xD at least not right now. Amazing voice acting. What I didn't like: A bit slow. Too long for its own good. The main character. What I hated: Repetition, specially of some words. Not enough strong drama. One awkward and very unfitting scene in the story. How difficult is it to read? Really easy, you can read this as as your first vn without any doubt, I wouldn't recommend Hinata's route for someone new because of the way she talks (not hard at all but still be careful) I rate this vn: Snowman out of 納得. EDIT: a little spoiler part to actually point out what was really boring, unfitting and what was actually pretty good. Hinata Since I don't want to create another topic about hinata's route I will keep adding info here, So Hinata's route has a really different dynamic and it has a lot more of comedy than bethly's, the combination between hina and yuzuki is amazing. I won't say that bethly's route was bad but so far hinata's is overall way more enjoyable.1 point -

While I don't feel like this all time I've had rough patches where the motivation to boot up a vn just wouldn't come at all and kept on going like that until I'd force myself and then find that I got hooked and had no more issues reading said vn. Sometimes it just happens, might be because you're not really fond of the common route, might be because of your own personal mood or situation where you simply can't sit down and relax reading. There's a lot of factors that chip in when it comes to this and they can pile up to the point where you simply stop reading for a while, in my experience when this happened I've either had to take a break from visual novels in general for a period of time and do something else or had to force myself (like Sumi said) because it really is great once you get started and hooked. Nowadays it doesn't happen to me too often but I'm sure it's just a momentary thing and it will fall upon me again, it just happens. Try not to worry too much about it, try different vns or do different things even take a break if necessary. Do things at your own pace so that you can enjoy them and in time you'll find your own work around for these things. Those where my two cents, hope you can push through it and enjoy whatever you choose to read or play.1 point

Bethesda emphasises exploration and character freedom, they're not great at (nor are they well known for) the world building part. Oblivion especially was terrible at world design, it was just a lifeless, generic, medieval world. But (luckily for Bethesda) that's not what people play the game for.1 point -

Understand, my reading speed is high enough that I don't spend much time stuck in the prologue, so I don't suffer in quite the same way as some of you seem to. Another issue is that I've learned patience when it comes to stories. When I was a lot younger, I had a lot more difficulty handling the 'in-between' moments that exist in most stories and the buildup to the beginning of the meat of a story's main plot. Nowadays, I'm more or less used to dealing with forty-page long introductions in long books, as well as having to deal with slice-of-life introductions in VNs that last for a seemingly interminable amount of time. Unfortunately, that also means that when something passes my level of tolerance, I'm somewhat merciless with it.1 point

Maybe I'm still not doing this advice myself here, but I just remember a certain scene from girl anime here inspire me to think a solution here. The solution here would be ask myself something like 'Why I read VN in the first place? Is it because of the interesting medium (Or something like opening and seiyuu here) or just following the hype?' While this advice maybe useless here, hope it could help OP here. Oh, and I think all of the advice above could be helpful to OP too.1 point -

Welcome to pre-2010 official translation! We hope you enjoy your stay! Honestly, I think Ever17 might need a retranslation almost as much as Konooza. I don't think anyone really cares about whatever else Hirameki was translating at the time, but Ever17 having those errors is more than a bit of an issue. At some point, I just started trying to ignore the errors in these really old games, but I can see why you don't like it. Talking of bad translation, I've been reading some of JAST's old eroge. The art's good, I enjoy the storyline, and the exploration elements are really good, but good lord! The translation is terrible!1 point -

Maybe just maybe, you are experiencing the same thing that happened to me When I was first getting myself into VN I had the problem that I thought common routes were the most boring thing ever, and when I got to the character routes everything started to get interesting. If you want, you could try the beginning of your waifu's route and see what if you feel more motivated1 point -
This. Nutaku can't even keep track of their own games, much less someone else's. Nutaku's PR is basically Peter Payne's worst impulses given free reign with no dedicated following to call him on it. I asked Nutaku yesterday whether putative Baldr Sky or Maitetsu adult releases would be welcome in their store, despite their objectionable content. Their PR person's response was something along the lines of "What about these titles is objectionable?" We tend to forget that the rank-and-file employees of English localization companies aren't necessarily hardcore eroge fans like us. They know as much about the genre and the wider scene as your typical fan knows about their business: i.e., not much. That's why hardcore fans are a valuable asset to any company: they provide a wide and deep knowledge base that the company itself might lack.1 point

I understand that feeling very well my friend. My Advice is: Don't force yourself into reading/playing it, just wait until you are in the reading mood (like in the mood to read a good book) get some coffee, maybe some snacks, get comfortable and be happy because you are doing something you like. If you think you are never on the mood to read the VN you are currently reading/playing, then maybe you should think to yourself if it is really your type of story, if you are really enjoying, and if that's the case, then move on to another one and so on. That's what I think, hope it helps, even if a little bit. Edit: lol Makudomi did a pretty good job explaining the same, just as I was typing this welp1 point -

And no, I'm not trying to taunt, world-building is just one of the strongest assets of Falcom and especially the Trails series. So, yeah, go play it you silly willies! Also, the video for anyone curious about the whole explanation and comparisons:1 point -
To be fair, they never once used the word "uncensored." The exact quote on the issue is: "The Nutaku/Denpasoft digital and physical versions are the same version as sold in Japan just in English." I think they're pretty clear on what they mean. I will admit I'm somewhat interested about what they have to say regarding mosaics, though. Not because it's a big deal for me, but because the only thing we have to go on is a comment on the Kickstarter saying Sekai Project responded to their question and said that the original assets were lost. Maybe they talked about it somewhere else and I didn't notice, but I don't think we have an official statement to go off of right now. I do know that for the Ne no Kami campaign they got the artist to redraw the H-scenes, so it's not like it's impossible for Sekai Project to localize something without mosaics. It's probably unique for every partner. Who knows, though, maybe when they finally announce stretch goals one of them will be redrawn H-scenes (big maybe).1 point

When I read someone complains about how is the game difficult to understand or the atmosphere is too dark to swallow or the plot is so confusing, I just want to scream: "Come on, people, it's an adult game with adult themes" and not some pretentious moege with fappable anime girls. It's not torture machine, it's extremely compelling and deep story with a live characters. The House in Fata Morgana is the kamige we don't often get in our lands and minding sales numbers don't deserve to get at all. You know how one tells that visual novels are actually books with images and music? In 99% cases it's bullshit. I would never compliment Grisaia or Clannad if I had them in the book format. Yes, they both has good scenarios but not the writing. The Novectacle's game is something else: elegant and inspirational. I'm writer myself and I see how much work the author put in the original idea to make a literary masterpiece. From the first encounter with the maid to the last spoken words I'v never been lost, disappointed or frustrated. I know why many players or readers hate flashbacks but in this case it's necessary evil to orchestrate the grand performance in the cursed mansion. So many things I want to say but it's so hard not to spoil important things. Remember this, it's not scary or horror story. It's not especially traumatic or cringe worthy. It's not Berserk kinda suffering. It's a I'm with Tay in his begging’s. Try it now, buy it now, you'll never regret. And if you will, then it means you're still not grown enough. Go back in couple of years when you can appreciate such sophisticated work of art. As for the real shortcomings of the game, there are only three: 1) Cheap backgrounds (what you expect from tiny doujin circle?) 2) 800x600 (Yeah, kirikiri is a crap engine) 3) Modern slang in some parts (nobody says "Ok" in 1099, ok?) As for why vocal in the divine OST is Portuguese. What did you study in school? Pokemones? From the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, Portugal was a huge colonial empire. Read about Treaty of Tordesillas in Wiki. If I'll have chance to go back in those times, I think I can definitely hear some similar songs and instrumental compositions like in the soundtrack. I wish the characters would speak Portuguese or Spanish or French. I can imagine the great gothic movie based on the game's script. With Del Toro in the director's seat. Sorry for my emotional escapade, but the game is worth it. Bless MG for bringing this incredible visual novel to us. And for God Sake, support it!1 point

Devils Devel Concept Shigure Sora - 'A young man attending Shiromine Private School. His emotions are out of sync to some extent with the average human being. He frequently ridicules himself as a 'defective human', but that is just the truth, not sarcasm. In opposition to his delicate and sensitive outer appearance, he hides a brutal aggressiveness within. Normally, he uses his father's inherited glasses (fake) as a filter, but he has long-since accepted his own violent nature. He is the possessor of of a bloodline that is rare even amongst the Enja (demon hunters), and his hobbies are housework and hunting demons.' ~I don't understand that stuff... you know, falling in love or dating? Above is a rough translation of the Getchu character profile. It isn't far off, but I thought I would add a few things in. Sora literally only has one moral... obey his contract. To him, contracts, whether verbal. written, or otherwise, are to be prioritized above all other things. He lacks most of the softer emotions (the closest he gets to love is obsession or an animalistic attachment) and he really enjoys ripping demons, humans, and other things apart. He frequently refers to himself as a 'beast', and that description isn't really that far off, since his motivations tend to be very... primal. He does have a sense of humor, but it tends to take up residence in the realms of Sarcasm and the Macabre.1 point

What's your opinion about VNs where the main heroine dies at the end?
Polycentric reacted to Bolverk for a topic
I think it's faking great. More heroines need to die. Makes me sad, and thus gives me feels. And feels are good. Badly written deaths are prbly badly written from the start. So I wouldn't really count them, ha ha.1 point -

@Infernoplex reeeaaaaly thanks for the efforts you put into helping me.I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. <3 and thanks for the advices, encouragements and also discouragements. I am aware of this fact that my English level is not good enough to satisfy everyone.(and probably if I go with this kind of translation it would become something like the english version of "kono oozora ni tsubasa wo hirogete" which moenovel released and everyone (including me) had their minds overheatd after reading it... but don't worry. after reading the comments I realized that I should stop for now Until I reach my translation level to an acceptable point that most people would approve it. @Decay thanks man.I'm grateful.these kind of comments are what I need to realize my weak points and downsides. and also @Yascob thanks for the time you put into your reply.they are useful. (this comment became somewhat of a thanks letter.) well I won't give up on this VN so easily but first I should do something about my TL. I hope that this game will be translated so if there was some other project that wanted to translate this VN in the future, I would be really grateful if any of you notify me.1 point

Okay I understand your want to give back to the community but please learn Japanese to some extent before you try to do any translation. Also to be honest your english does not seem up to par either. I wouldn't even call myself a good translator and I can see how many mistakes you made in the translation of the introduction (to be fair though it used a very strange format). First off, I think the title is supposed to be Psychologic Love Comedy (Which I'd probably change to Psychological Love Comedy because I don't trust Japanese companies to know english well especially after seeing some of their file names.) Second of all here is my hastily done translation of the introduction: When you are disconnected from happiness, we loop. In a place that is not here, in a time that is not now a boy, Hirakase Haruki, awoke. Meeting a girl in the same circumstances, Yuika, they began to share a secret. Immediately after, both again parted from consciousness. Before they had awoken, the world had returned to it's state of a few days prior. There was a tall wall surrounding the academy sector, there were people with special powers, Haruki and Yuika were assigned duties. (Not 100% sure about this line here is the raw "陽希とユイカに課せられる義務") Little by little, even while bewildered, they adapt to academy life. A little while later, they began to act. Working towards their shared secret. And so they realized the world's loop is connected to Haruki's happiness. They wonder: why did we lose our memory? why is the world looping? where does happiness lie? So not only did you skip a bunch of lines you clearly MTLed (Machine Translated) it which in my books is a big no-no unless you explicitly state that it's MTLed. On the off chance that it is not MTLed you clearly do not have a good enough grasp of Japanese yet. Try getting formal instruction. If you can't there are a lot of great online resources that can help. Here are some that you may find useful: Maggie-Sensei (good practical japanese lessons for once you've got the basics down) Realkana (Learn Katakana and Hirigana. I don't know if it's the best place because I just googled it.) Kanjialive (a great tool for learning kanji, as for what to put into it just look up the list of kanji for various levels of the JPLT (Japanese Language Placement Test)) KanjiTomo (Probably the best free Japanese OCR (Optical Character Recognition tool) Tool which doubles as a dictionary. Use it for identifying japanese in images.) Jisho and weblio (Very good Japanese to english dictionaries. Weblio is better for idiomatic phrases and verbs and Jisho is really good for individual words [do not fully trust its verb conjugation identifier]) Any website that teaches you about particles (These are probably the most important part of Japanese grammar) Any website that teaches you how to conjugate verbs (Use maggie-sensei for casual forms of speech. This is probably the second most important part of japanese grammar after particles) Once you have at least grasped most if not all of the particles and most of the common verb conjugations, then you should be fine to start translating anything. If you attempt to translate before you grasp those you learn almost nothing and the translation makes no sense so no one benefits. If you don't want to at least learn these simple basic things, do not say you are translating as it is basically insulting anyone who actually translates (It's like saying "I can cook" to a chef when all you can do is use a microwave, not only are you flat out lying you are disrespecting what the chef does). Anyways, sorry if I came off a bit harsh but sometimes it's better to nip something in the bud before it grows out of control. If one person gets away with an improper translation it sets precedence for more and then real problems happen. I also tend to get a bit ranty when things hit close to home (I'm part of the Baka-Tsuki LN community and it had a problem where a lot of people (like 30) were passing poorly edited MTLs off as "translations" on a project called Mushoku Tensei. Then they started doing the same on other projects and shit hit the fan. Actual translators did not want to be associated with those rubbish translations so they either left the site, went radio silent for a while, or straight up quit translating altogether. The site has never fully recovered from that even after changing policies to prevent that from happening.) I hope you at least listen to this advice. If you read this far thank you for doing so. Edit: I've made some small spelling fixes and made clear that I'm not sure about one of the lines now.1 point

Funny, because I also didn't know what Atelier Sakura was, and I was half-expecting that MangaGamer was getting involved in localizing Gust's Atelier game series.1 point -
