  3. When I want H, I normally read H manga instead, but still, I'll play some nukige from time to time. In normal VNs, sex scenes are just something for me to skip unless they have impecable timing and I just so happen to want to masturbate. I never look for both at the same time, and the mix is honestly kind of annoying in most cases, tbh.

    Hi everyone!

Big visual novel fan here, from New Zealand. I'm also a big anime fan. I enjoy being a part of forums like these and it will be cool to get to know you!

  5. They are what is called non canon H-scenes, which were added in as extra content for those who wants H content in the game. They don't actually change the story at all, so you can skip them. (They were pretty nice, and 2 are animated, so I recommend giving them a read.) Actually, the scenes are written as if they were meant to be put inside the story, (you'll see they make direct refrences to events, and happen sometime alongside the original "timeline") so they are completely in context, however they are not meant to be in the story, which is why they are added on the side as non canon scenes. It's basically a few small "what if" scenarios.

  7. ... but we actually got Princess Maker 2... That said, I'm wondering if this version is using the old translation (which I don't remember anymore aside from being perfectly fine for the time it was released) or if they are using a new one. But as it certainly can't be better than the original, I don't see any benefit in buying this version. I can't find any information on what makes the "Refine"d edition better than the original. They should have released another game in the series English speaker haven't already played instead. 19 years! End of Evangelion was released in 1997! (And it better had been the End...)

  9. Well, this update is basically a one-to-one cardboard copy of the previous update. +9% on editing, +9% on QC, and +6% on proofreading. Everything’s coming along just nice, with a steady stream of progress, and the game’s now over 75% edited! It’s a huge milestone for us, and it shouldn’t be too long until the fully-fledged patch lands. Nothing much to say here. Every smug face I see nowadays strikingly reminds me of Kirie, and it’s 100% because of this project. Enjoy some mahou shoujo Kirie.

  11. As the title suggests, after what feels like an era of ruthless opression through the modern and cute, studio Gainax in comradeship with the korean publisher CFK finally decided on maning up against todays filth, bringing over the horrendously adorable "Princess Maker 2 Refine" for a mere sum of 19,99$, even willing to offer a 20 percentual discount to the fast and utmost longing. Rejoice! edit: seems its sales-numbers will determine if a possible release of the series later installments might become a reality as well, something which hasn´t been ruled out by the ones responsible as of yet. http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/001/373/1373026/

  13. So, I started an abridging team of sorts, it only consists of 4 members right now, @Zodai, his friend Arachnophillia, @LoganW and myself. We need some members, preferably with sexy voices. Our current project is Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor, which was picked because we have no grills on the team. It'd be cool if you sent us an application video/mp3 file with your sexiest voice, but if not, that's fine too. Oh, by the by, this team uses Discord for communication.

  16. Visual Novel Translation Status (09/24/2016) First, sorry for late posting my VNTS Review here. As for the title, why we don't ask to our beloved half ghost gardener from Youmo Konpaku of Touhou fame here for the resemblance (Although I made it maid instead of the gardener here)? Okay, I think for this week it's kinda hard to found the title here, but I finally found it and for the explanation the phantom part was from Tokyo Twilight one (Phantom also mean Ghost), human part was from Harmonia VN which from the picture it was human girl, and maid part came from Sakura Maid. Enough about my lame explanation here, and welcome to this week VNTS Review. Oh, right now I facing some problem, just like admin Tay here if you ask me why I deliver this very late. As for this week update, there's not much as usual here after Mangagamer gave big update last week. While for both of Sekai and Fan Translation one they still give usual updates here. As for Please Bang My Wife release, once again no comment ie I had gave my comment about it enough. Sekai Project, they still gave the update as usual but this week it was quite interesting that they managed to upped Chrono Clock progress which for this week they managed to upped the progress by almost 5% (The Kickstarter might be the reason here, and it was 38.28% translated). Oh, for another two usual here Maitetsu was 35.95% translated and Tenshin Rahman past halfway translated (51.78% translated). As for irregular update, Hoshimemo was at 45% retranslated for the progress. As for their release, I always said whatever to any Sakura games here, but it's interesting that they release Sakura Maid as free games here I guess. As for they had 2 panels instead of one, it'll be interesting to looking forward, although I wouldn't expect something big for now though. For fan translation, this week there's some usual one that gave update, and now Loverable will join here because they managed to gave the progress weekly. For the progress, Bishoujo Mangekyou was at 76% edited, 71% QC-ed, and 30% proofread; Tsui Yuri was at 78% translated and 71% edited; Majokoi was at 43.1% translated, 31.6% edited, and 15.7% TLC; and Loverable progress was at 15.75% translated (60.44% translated for common route), 0.92% edited, and 1.38% TLC-ed here. As for Alice VN partial patch release here, good luck although to be honest I'd never keep my eyes on it though (It's otome games by the way, and I think it would be another good addiction to translated otome games there. Oh, and for reminder here our Ittaku translated three quarter (75%) of the twins route from Clover Days once again. In regard of Harmonia VN, looks like my guess was right that it would be short VN now that VNDB categorized the length as short there. I still not play this yet, but at least I knew that we got Mizuhashi Kaori as seiyuu there (The premise was at some sort of dystopian/crapsack world in the future once again). As for the releases from this section, one of the release was VN which happened to be one part of the title there (The premise was like fighting against supernatural thing), and another was the short VN with wild west setting which using comic bubble as interface which remind me of Littlewith VNs (Romanesque and Quartett come to mind). For the most interesting news here, we'll had the finale of Chu Singura (Chapter 4 and 5) available on Steam there in near future there although I won't be certain here though. They also will came with the patch that fix the typo there, and for last word here guess finally NextNinja managed to bring ChuSingura translated here if they release last chapters (After earlier 2 kickstarters failure here). I think that's all for this week, and sorry for being late once again. As for next week, since admin Tay said that they'll had late VNTS, guess I'll try to make the early VNTS Review here (Also with Atlanta commentary there). See you next week. PS - Like Decay, I also hoping that Mangagamer will announce Sengoku Koihime if only they had the design was slightly better to me compared to Koihime Musou (Also with the potential to entering Steam).

  18. There was no need for an extended epilogue in my opinion. That VN was perfectly fine where it left off, anything after the so-called "good ending" would just be needless and not fitting in the original flow of things. With the sequel they released they just managed to anger me with the awful voice actors and totally wrong storyline. I don't even consider the so-called sequel as a "Bible Black", it's more of a bad fan-fiction doujin in my opinion. As for a remake, I don't think it's really necessary, the original art in Bible Black still looks good to me, now after I have played some more VNs from that period I definitively see Bible Black as a much better looking VN compared to many G-Collection translated bishoujo VNs. But if we compare it to today's standards, I definitively see what you mean, maybe Empress should give us a remake with the new art style Sei Shoujo developed, I like it very much so I would gladly pay for a remake if it were to be released or kickstarted for that matter.

  21. I just finished Enkou Shoujo....what the fuck was that? the nukige tag makes a lot of sense now (I found out it was a nukige only after reading it >_>) the beginning was actually pretty good! the whole thing about helping an old friend who was just not very smart and bad at everything and got herself into prostitution and asked for your help, and the main character not finding meaning in anything after the injury, questioning her whole life (that's a really good premise of a vn right there!!!!!) but after that it was pure crap and the ending... the ending

  22. Sometimes, I feel like reading a nukige and will pick one up just for the H. I've played two at this point, and am currently playing a third, and I've found that them having a coherent and interesting plot and characters makes them vastly more interesting to read. For instance, I disliked ImoPara in many ways; would not play again. Even the wafer-thin plot of Ultimate Boob Wars put it head and shoulders above ImoPara. And I'm actually really enjoying Funbag Fantasy right now, which I picked up because I kinda felt like having another nukige under my belt, so to speak, and because people were saying the story is actually relatively interesting and humorous, for a nukige. So, basically, even when I'm playing a game nominally for the H scenes, I've found that the rest of the game being good makes it way more worth it. Now, all that said, most of the time, I'll pick up a VN based on things like story, characters, and setting. When that's what I'm looking for, I'll usually play the version of a game with H scenes if given options, on the off-chance that they're actually worth going back to later (and I'll repeat what others have said: scene replay is fundamental, not just CG gallery, for the enjoyment some people get out of H scenes), but almost always I find they get in the way more than they add while I'm reading. There are rare exceptions. Sekien no Inganock is an especially good example of one, where I felt the sex scenes were a fundamental and worthwhile part of the story being told, especially in how they were essential to understanding the characters and their relationships. With Majo Koi Nikki, I'm kind of on the fence about whether they need to be there; the sex is fundamental to the story, plot-wise, but perhaps not the H scenes, since I don't know that they do much of interest to advance characters. So, arguably the sex doesn't need to happen on-stage, and it in fact does usually feel like it gets in the way of progressing the story while I'm reading it. So, I most likely would enjoy the game more without them, and they were indeed cut for a Vita release, probably to the benefit of the game experience. And, yes, if you have H, animated H is a definite plus, IMO.

  24. It really depends on what my aim is. I enjoy a good nukige more than most people here - Sexy Demon Transformation and Forbidden Love With My Wife's Sister are two of my favorite H games period. They know exactly what they are and don't pretend to be anything more. They set up simple characters you want to fuck and gets you there without wasting your time. The former gives you a fun setting with some wackiness that plays into anime sensibilities while the latter gives you a HOOOOOOOOT chick you can't help but want. I give both of them one boner up. If I'm going to put 10-50+ hours into a game, I like for it to have H scenes with the characters. I'm not going to give some pretense - I'm a healthy man and I love women. If I like the character enough to go through a route with her, obviously I'm into her enough to want to H her. The downside with games that have it as a feature but not a focus is that you aren't always in the mood when the scenes come up, and sometimes you really are more interested in seeing the story progress than yet another H scene. That's what the scene replay function is for. As you can see in my VNDB I've been through an eroge or two in my time, and my willingness to sit through something that bores me for 20 hours to get to an H scene is gone at this point in my life. For that longer investment of time I need something worthy of that investment - interesting plot, fun characters, engaging gameplay (ala Bunny Black, Eiyuu Senki, etc.), something. The fact that it has H content with women I find attractive brings me to the table. Everything else it does well keeps me there.

  25. I'm tempted to say "story", but really, when I feel like reading something H-heavy (not saying "nukige", cause I haven't read a proper one in years), I do just that. When I want a story, I pick something plot-heavy. When I want more moe in my life... well, you get the idea.

I never said he was a bad writer he is one of my favorites but he doesn't writer in a "complicated" way, he writes in a really simple way yet effective, just read narcissu for example even when he goes all chuuni (like in little iris) he is still easy to understand in comparison with other writers sumire is easy, sanarara (the chapters he wrote are easy) 120yen stories are almost for a child to read, giniro, lamune, mizuiro, etc etc xD he is a writer easy to read, in fact some people complain about this saying that his prose is too simple (I don't think you can say someone is a bad writer because its prose is simple but that's just me)

  27. Admittedly, it's been years since I read Ever17, but I don't remember it having all that much in common with Root Double. Whereas E17's main focus arguably lies in screwing with your mind through really elaborate plot twists, RD starts off as a mystery thriller in Root A, but then prioritizes characterization and world-building above all else during the rest of the story. There are still some occasional twists and Root B has plenty of slice-of-life, but they're not really the focus and don't feel very E17-esque in their approach. So IMO, how much you like E17 doesn't really affect how likely you are to enjoy RD.

  28. First word here, welcome to Fuwanovel and hope you had fun here. As for recommendation, all of the reccomendations were good, especially Kara no Shoujo 2 and House in Fata Morgana. Although there's already some good recommendations there above, I would like to recommend some more here. First one would be some sci-fi VNs like Root Double and I/O there, which surely will be good to you if you like Steins Gate. Second would be Lucid9 which had some mystery behind slice of life story. For the third recommendations here, I would like to recommend When They Cry franchise (Higurashi and Umineko) if you didn't mind it's bad sprite there, which could easily fix by downloading some patch out there (You could also try Rose Gun Days from same writer). For the final recommendations, I would recommend both of short Nitroplus VN which tell the story about revenge and killing (Kikokugai and Hanachirasu). Hope my recommendation here helpful to you.

The same cannot be said of actually engaging in conversation, and asking me a question has a 70% chance of making me have an emotional and/or nervous breakdown.

    What are you playing?

While I find your comparison to Muv Luv Extra extremely questionable, you should read some other Key VNs after this. Say what you want about Maeda's nakige formula (and it is a finely honed formula at this point), his sense of humor is genuinely great and he writes some really good protagonists. Especially give Air a shot if you liked Kanon's protagonist. People also like to shit on Key common routes for being overlong but shit, they're way too entertaining for me to care about them not progressing the actual storylines at all.

  43. think that one in particular is one of the very worst examples of thrilling and believable netorare. heck i even felt relieved when this most annoying piece of a wimp got his chicks screwed by others, btw. i couldnt care less. oyako rankan is pretty much on a same non-existing emotional level as dasaku & its fd, totally not possible to emphatize with anyone there, except for some of the formers heroines, maybee. not wanting to sound like an ass here, but the way it´s presented in a distant manner somehow reminds me at those short 2-3line-ish news about indian women got gangraped and killed, like you read it, you comprehend it, you forget it shortly after. always been under the impression netorare/netori is meant to hurt/feel great on an emotional level whilst reading, because you (reader) selfinsert into the protag aka the more believable and sympatic/asshole-ish he is to you, the better. this is the personal opinion of a dude who even faps to mecha, so take his words with a grain of salt. edit: good ones for example are the original "maro" from elf, some stuff by lune bitters, anim mm, or lilim. heck even "tsuma shibori" & "i can" had its moments, but the very vast majority of said genre is simply put uninspired trash which follows no logic and has no value to it, literary dick-cheese so to speak (apologizes for badmouthing dick-cheese)

  44. Visual novels are too feminist. The guy always has to slave away for the girl's pleasure and to gain their approval. Even when they finally get it, they have to keep up appearances or all that lost work will go to waste. Have you seen some of the shit they do for these women? Some might say that the men are capturing the easily fallen women, but it's actually the other way around, these minxes manipulate the man into doing their biddings and only rewarded with minor shows of affection. Nukige are the only real male supremacist games, at least there the male is in control and the one who is getting the most benefit.
