Climate change is predicted to increase global strife as people are displaced by more frequent and more intense natural disasters, as well as gradually changing weather patterns. Competition for dwindling resources will be inevitable. The next world war could change the face of our planet. For everyone's sake, we need to prolong the current peace as long as possible--or at least until I've died of natural causes. Then go nuts, for all I care.4 points

It's mostly correct. That America was so clearly the dominant superpower militarily, and could enter countries when conflicts just began and end it decisively, was a major factor in the 'decline of war' the world has recently seen. Whether people agree on the side they've chosen is another matter, America HAS made mistakes, but it's in their interest (economically and for other reasons) to keep the world stable and at peace and it's what they've done (while forwarding their own agenda. Never mistake that.) In fact the last decade (00-10) was the most peaceful decade (going by % of deaths in conflict) since records began (many many centuries ago.) Maybe that's because they were the only country capable of smacking down another country from across the globe at a moment's notice. Whether people agree with that method is another matter entirely. What you see in Syria at the moment is what happens when America (or any dominant military power) doesn't have the strength (or will) to end a conflict early. Look at Europe -> they're clamouring for a 'peaceful resolution.' Many years and countless deaths later, not to mention the largest refugee problem since WW2, how's that 'peaceful solution' looking? The EU just met 2 days ago to threaten Putin with sanctions, and they couldn't even agree to do that (Italy lead a block of countries against it. Because of economic reasons.) So yeah, America's military might is largely responsible for the peaceful times we've enjoyed.3 points -

Way to be condescending. As a customer, I have a right to complain. This is a forum where we have a right to complain and voice our opinions, so stop being arrogant. I never said they are all stupid did I? I actually pointed out that Jast and MG got the job done and treat their customers a lot better than SP does. Kindred Spirits is very highly-regarded, though I haven't played it so I can't personally vouch for it (and believe me, I really want to fix that... it might be the next thing I pick up), and Flowers is pretty decent. Both are very much more story- and character-oriented rather than sex-oriented, so they're probably more what you're looking for. If I were you, I'd go for Kindred Spirits.2 points -

I don't know ho you feel about OELVN'S, but Starlight Vega is a pretty good love story http://store.steampowered.com/app/377690/. Also the same creator is creating a story about Incest and it's Yuri too. It's called Love Ribbon, but it's not out yet. Nurse Addition is another one http://store.steampowered.com/app/485040/. It's a Japanese made game. It's kind of light hearted in the beginning, but the routes are pretty dramatic. Lily Princess is another OELVN and is based off the Little Princess. I found it t be dramatic and well written. Thing is each relationship varies. Some are romance but some are more friendship. You may enjoy it though http://store.steampowered.com/app/449250/. Ebhime has also done some Yuri too. Here's a cute lighthearted game http://store.steampowered.com/app/407340/ This too is a OELVN called Highway Blossoms. It has an adult patch. Haven't played it yet but I hear it's good. http://store.steampowered.com/app/451760/ Kindred Spirits on the Roof is a JVN as well. Also pretty popular http://store.steampowered.com/app/402620/2 points -

Even if he won, Trump wouldn't have the power to make himself a dictator. He's a fringe lunatic and the slightest hint of corruption would immediately get him impeached, possibly by his own party. And even if he somehow managed to overcome the checks and balances and do what he says he'll do, the world would suffer for it. Anyone cheering on Trump as "what America deserves" is cheering for a disintegration of the world order that has kept our world mostly at peace since the 1940's--and that's just foolish. Seems to me like the writer was more interested in taking a swipe at the US than providing any useful policy insight.2 points -

Okay, so out of curiosity as to how censorship was handled in this game, I decided to buy the Steam version as well as the Japanese version, and played the beginning part of each game next to each other. (Short version: I wish I didn't buy the English version-- it was not worth it. Long version:) The result was... dissapointing. I had the idea in my head that the translation at the very least, was handled well and that the only "issue" lied in the missing 18+ content. Well, as I played through the beginning of the game in English, I noticed... there is literally missing dialouge which is important to the plot. (This dialogue is completely unrelated to any H, and happens before the first H-scene.) During the start of the game, when the MC meets the God who governs the shrine, there is actually missing lines of dialogue, which gives direct details about what kind of deal the MC makes with the God etc. But in the English version, it just skips over the details of the deal they make, and come to the conclusion right away, which is confusing. This makes the game look even less detailed and in depth than it already is. In the English version, all you get out of the whole scene is: "You girls must be punished!" "Please don't punish them, punish me!" "Ok." - The end. The details of the deal itself isn't discussed at all. The translation itself seems pretty okay, but it is quite literal and a bit... strange. For some reason, they list "narrator" as a person speaking when the MC thinks. (So, the normal narration from the MC's point of view, which literally uses "me" "mine" I am" and so on, is labeled under "narrator." This is NOT present in the JP game, so it is very confusing.) Now, moving onto the scene that follows after the deal is made-- the first H-scene. It was not completely cut out, but it was handled quite... strangely. They left in a few lines of foreplay, where the MC and Sumire are making out. Then they leave in some of the dialogue that actually happens in the H-scene itself, but don't show the CG. (In this dialogue they establish that everyone loves the MC, and the MC loves everyone, basically.) Important note: No actual sex is described. It's just ... talking. If you didn't know this has H-scenes, you most likely would never know that what is happening is actually sex. THEN they cut the rest out, but leave in the last line, "sumire showered me with sweet love all night long." or something along those lines, suddenly implying that sex occured. Or, at least, kissing all night I guess, lol. This is the only refrence I have found so far, that might somehow imply that there is "sexy things" happening in this game. The rest is removed/ censored. Now, they have also cut out direct refrences to genitalia completely, (examples: there is one little exhange early in the game where Nazuna lies down on the MC's lap, and notices that he has a boner. Sumire then says, "oh, it is still energetic, even after I used it so much last night?" Terrible TL from me there, but you get the gjist of it.) The Japanese game is very crude, using words like まんこ and ちんぽ left and right, even in non H related scenes, (which is not surprising, seeing as it is a nuklge.) Overall, it is a bit worse than I expected. I would just like to say that, anyone who is considering maybe getting this game... please, for your own good, do not do it until a possible patch is released in the future. The way the game is now, it is completely pointless and ... weird.2 points

rlvm for Android
Limerence_ reacted to xyz for a topic
Hi guys. I wanted a challenge so here's an Android port of rlvm which is "an open source implementation of the RealLive scripting engine for Linux and OSX". Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.xyz.rlvm How to use: Copy unpacked/installed game files to your device (external/internal memory, doesn't matter). Start "rlvm" and select VN root directory (the one with files SEEN.txt, RealLive.exe, etc). Also see https://github.com/eglaysher/rlvm/blob/master/README.TXT and https://github.com/eglaysher/rlvm/blob/master/STATUS.TXT. In general, compatibility should be the same. Do note that those files could be outdated. Controls: To right click tap two fingers on screen. Touchscreen will behave like a laptop touchpad. Make sure to exit game using menu in order for your saves to be flushed to disk. As per GPL, my changes are available in this repo.1 point -
To tell the truth it's a not a particulary bad decision. If You Love Me, Then Say So! now has 92% TL and definitly will be out early next year. And we all know how slow is SP with their projects.1 point

Shuffle! is coming to Steam!
ChaosRaven reacted to yorikbad for a topic
Well, it's still lower then early Sakura's games on Steam. For such famous and well-known even outside otaku crowd franchise it's pretty average numbers. And please don't compare these figures to the japanese sales. The VN's there sell strong every month with full price (~90$), while on Steam the biggest sale goes in the first couple of weeks. It's a matter of fact that Steam miracle for visual novels, both Evns and Jvns, is gone now. That's why MG went from all-age lineup to entirely 18+. That's why SP remembered about Denpasoft and made a deal with Nutaku. It's a matter of money. And while all-age versions on Steam are still selling better then in companie's stores before the bubble, look at Flowers and Nurse Love Addiction numbers (1,552 and 2,587 respectively) or the tragedy of The Labyrinth of Grisaia (2,932). I know, we can't really trust SteamSpy data, but I believe that the Steam buyers aren't very loyal or knowledgable. The first Grisaya game sold well because of anime, Princess Evangile and Nekopara both sold well because of Youtuber's, Yuri Ghosts sold well becuse of nudity precedent. In the end of the day, what's left is the core audience that could support pricy games if they have H-content. Everybody understand, so why Navel don't. Why is so hard to make all-age version and 18+ patch. It's not like Shuffle has some questionable content that could rise the storm among SJWs. Or maybe it's the first independent try of market for them to see how it'll go. I'm afraid they are too late.1 point -

So, I've started to play Yoake Mae yori Ruri Iro na now, my first August game. It's fairly old and probably just moege, but I like the moon theme. Which propably makes this my personal star gazer season of the year, with the Mirai Nostalgia I'm currently also reading in Japanese. Well, to be precise, I had to make a little break from all the moe in Koiken Otome for a short time and watched two seasons of Dexter first. And now, several serial killers and dozens of victims later, I feel 'rejuvenated' again for more moe.1 point -

And yet they sell much more copies on Steam than on their website. It was confirmed by MangaGamer. By the way.. Have you seen the sales numbers of Steins;Gates? http://steamspy.com/app/412830 14,144 copies have been sold so far. It's a really old title, that was already released by Just USA. And yet it sells much better than most of new titles released in Japan: Several reasons: 1. Just as many other Steam users I don't buy the games that aren't on Steam. 2. Steam copy is cheaper (and I don't really care about adult content) 3. It's just much more easier and more convenient to buy games on Steam. And tell me, why exactly should Steam users interested in VN's 'intentionally' buy from MG's site (instead of Steam)?! Do you think they are stupid or what?!1 point -

One part of this post is correct, another part of this is pure supposition and likely bullshit. You cannot attribute fewer sales on Steam to people moving to MangaGamer's store, as simple as that. I can't even imagine how you arrived at that conclusion. VNs being in a mild decline on Steam compared to 18 months ago means fewer people are playing VNs overall compared to then, not that people are getting VNs elsewhere.1 point -

Ok, so upon simply playing a few more minutes, the same thing happened. What it looks like, is that they take the lines which are uttered by characters, and just... remove them, then sum them up in a single narration. (And sometimes, they don't even do that.) So, this short scene for instance, where the characters were talking among themselves while deciding something, was just replaced with a quick summary in narrated form. (So I guess you do get the same result in a way, but it's done in such an awkard manner.) The characters needed to go look for a lost heirloom, and instead of seeing the characters talk, deciding who goes out to search for it, (which is what happens in the JP version,) you just get one line with this: "after that the other three decided to go look for it, while I was left behind at the shrine. The reason was that Sumire said it was dangerous for me." Something along those lines. ... This is kind of worrying. This level of lazyness is... I don't know. I see no explainable reason why they are doing this. It's not at all H related, so these lines should not be changed or removed at all. I fear your guess on this was pretty right, ChaosRaven. I kind of want this to be some form of mistake in porting the game or something. There is a LOT of lines just... gone. The bulk of the lines still seem to be there, but randomly one will be gone, then another, then a whole conversation is replaced by narration. I'll keep playing and see if it persists through the whole thing.1 point
