Future
Chronopolis and 2 others reacted to Arcadeotic for a blog entry
Since this week had no noteworthy progress being made, I decided to do this instead of a regular update and splitting percentages. The Future Current Projects Let’s talk about release dates. Note that these are only estimation based on pure calculations and logic and will not be final nor necessary truthful under any circumstances. As I’ve stated before, I would’ve fancied this project finishing before end of the year. Now, I’m sure the editing and QC will finish before that, but I’m not so sure about the proofreading. It could be at 75% at most, but in all seriousness, that’s as far as it’s going to get, I’m afraid. So, according to my estimations, Biman -1- will most likely release in mid to late January, most likely. Then, Biman -2.5-. As much as I’d want for the translation to finish in 2016, I do think such an event is rather unlikely. If all goes well, the translation should finish around at the same time as Biman -1- releases. As for the full release, probably mid-year or sooner, but that’s a really rough estimation, so don’t quote me on that. Future Projects As much as I’d like to start a new project right after Biman -2.5-, I’m most likely going take a short hiatus from translating, so be wary of that. As for actual, I have a few in mind, but I’ll disclose information from those after these two will be out, in the same time as my hiatus. My thoughts on Biman -4- As you may or may not know, there’s a new Biman game on the horizon, and I’m quite excited for it. It’ll be a game with a trap protagonist and it’s been a pretty long time since I played a Trap VN, but it’ll be a very nice change of pace from what I’ve been reading recently. As for the whole story, I’m more or less expecting something along the lines of the first Biman with some kind of S/M relationship. As for the name, it does set some nice undertones it might have, a rough translation being “A Girl’s Crime and Punishment”. At this point, there’s really quite little I can speculate about, but I do wish for something more akin to the first game in the series, but we’ll have to wait and see, and I hope it doesn’t try to be too many things at once and just fall flat on its arse. As for translating it, well, it’s a possibility and I’ll leave it at that. See you next week, everyone.3 points -

Well, long time no content here, eh. So, uhh, I started writing a diary when I poop. But it’s in bad Fapanese. I have some faint hope that seeing my amusing stumbles might inspire you to practice writing in Japanese. Yes, you over there in my target audience of maybe one person. The actual content of this entry is unlikely to inspire anyone, so it’s all the better that nobody will understand it anyway. For authenticity (and hopefully showing that it’s ok to mess up a bit or something) I have preserved all the grammatical and kanji errors I made, noting what I spotted reading through it again below. Fuckups [1] I’m not even sure if the つつ grammar is any good here, but I made a more fundamental error. つつ needs to be attached to the actual stem of the verb in question (here 近づく), rather than what you get when I use ichidan verb rules on godan verbs. tl;dr this should be 近づきつつ. [2] While 一月 apparently can mean “one month”, it also means “January”. What I meant to write was 一ヶ月. [3] Pls decide if you want a chouon or not in the word you katakana’d because you don’t know the fapanese one, zaka. [4] I wrote this kanji wrong, using 良 as the right side. [5]感請 should be 感情 here. [6] I wrote 機 without the tree on the left and kinda wrong in general. I have recreated my failure in paint for you to enjoy. 準備のことはまだ、でも今すぐやるつもりです。メーレは・・・まぁ。 View the full article1 point

If you have to ask about that, I don't really think I'd recommend it. I didn't think it was that bad, but a lot of it came out of nowhere and there's one scene later on in particular that isn't necessarily very explicit, but man was that some weird stuff and I can easily imagine it making someone of weaker constitution feel uncomfortable. More details in spoiler, I wouldn't look if you think you'll read it but if you're not sure it might be a good idea. I'm sorry if I was over or under detailed, I hope this helps!1 point

Playing Hanachirasu now, which I picked up during the black friday sale. Start is pretty cool with a ferocious ninja attack on a mansion in a dark and gritty setting. Unfortunately the game already crashed on me, which made me painfully aware that I'm playing a Jast game. *sigh* Well, I hope it doesn't happen too often...1 point -
PS Vita games question
Novel21 reacted to littleshogun for a topic
I don't knew about Ar Norsuge other than it was the prequel to Ar Tonelico 1 according to VNDB (Ar Tonelico was some kind of RPG and dating sim mix, and the story was had some kind of tower and song magic). But at least I knew Odin Sphere here. The art there was quite colorful, and there were 5 characters who seemingly unrelated to each other (The premise was sort of war before apocalypse). It was some kind of action RPG, and you could try to grew some fruit in the middle of the battlefield. From what I'd heard it was improvement from PS2 version speaking for Vita, especially in regard of the battle. Regardless, I think I just leave the decision to you there because I'm sure both of those were had pros and cons. Good luck to decide there.1 point -

What are you reading? Untranslated edition
Chronopolis reacted to Jartse for a topic
Recently finished 装甲悪鬼村正 - really one of a kind VN which I've read so far (aside from it being probably the longest and hardest thing I've read), that average vndb rating doesn't lie! At first I was a bit concerned with all the relations with the other Nitroplus titles, but it turns out to be nothing major (aside from some hilarious scenes involving the protag). There are some minor nitpick/complaints about a couple of things though aside from the moral discussions/infodumping, the final route had a couple of what I could describe as epic battles which were skipped over along with some choices in places which required a bit of guessing. More specific examples/comments (major spoilers alert!): Overall, awesome VN, there are some very unforgettable moments - これは英雄の物語ではない.1 point -
Badly describe a Visual Novel
WinterfuryZX reacted to kilicool64 for a topic
Doesn't look like anyone will figure out the rest, so I'm spilling the beans: #1: It's OMGWTFOTL. #2: Already answered. I/O's characters have extremely wrinkled clothes. #3: Already answered. The premise of Go Go, Nippon! is that the protagonist decides to spend a week in Japan living with two internet acquaintances without knowing that they're female. #4: It's VLR. During Clover's route, Clover talks about purifying the unclean for a moment, then the word "unclean" somehow reminds her of the antidote neostigmine. #5: Already answered. It's Rewrite, a wonderful example of how horribly disjointed a story can end up becoming when nobody steps in to make sure it maintains a consistent direction. #6: Already explained. Just as MGSV:TPP was a heavily unfinished game whose third chapter got cut entirely safe for a single image dataminers discovered, so too was Remember11 clearly released in an incomplete state, with only a few references to a cut third route in the executable. #7: It's 999. For some reason, its translators don't know how to spell "dammit". #8: Already answered. Root Double features an article in a French newspaper about an arson. However, some of the text is actually related to Hello Kitty. #9: It's Never7. Don't remember the exact details, but several incidents in the VN never would've happened if it wasn't for a puppy.1 point -
Don't worry, Chapter 2&3 will be just as great i assure you Also romance is pretty awesome in this VN and IMO definitely not being pushed to side despite all the drama that's going on. One last thing, you ain't see nothing of Suguha yet Derg if you only finish playing chapter one1 point

MGRP is great. I was originally kind of bored with it, but it's gotten a lot better lately. It's very unpredictable with who's going to die next and in what order. People just kind of die at moments where you wouldn't expect them to, and I love it for it, since it helps keep things interesting. I have a few faults with it, but they're entertaining faults, so I still get a lot of enjoyment out of them. Alice is best girl by the way, she literally has done nothing wrong and despite how she's supposed to seem creepy, she's actually really sweet in a strange sort of way.1 point

eroge sales 2016/10
Nandemonai reacted to Shota_Victory for a topic
This isn't the "end of the eroge market" or anything. Fandisks and nukige will always sell well, both in the West and in Japan. Of course, good visual novels will sell well, but fandisks and adaptations are safer to sell, and safer to buy. Besides, the games at the top of these lists are going to be recent eroge, not kamige. When you manage to find an eroge released in the last two months that looks much better than these, be sure to post it, because I won't believe you otherwise.1 point -

Hey guys, I just finished playing Eiyuu Senki Gold, which is the first untranslated VN I've read all the way through and I liked it a lot, and on this occasion I'd like to thank my friends and family, as well as my now complete harem of gender-bent historical waifus, without them I wouldn't have made it that far. Seriously though, it was really gratifying and I'm gonna keep at it, actually I got Kami no Rhapsody and am now proceeding to get mind raped by the exposition scene (Sorry about that, mr. Narrator, I might have to do some research on that one, I don't understand shit)1 point

Sure, this is happening, but I have a hard time seeing it squeeze Sekai Project / MangaGamer / Jast out of the market completely. Okay, an outfit like Kodansha can dispense with contracting out to a third party localization group that knows what it's doing, because Kodansha knows what it's doing. Kodansha's a huge publishing conglomerate, they've translated things into English before. But more often than not, when the Japanese have run the show, the result has been highly questionable translations. I mean, MangaGamer itself is proof of that point; they had to bring on experienced native English-speaking staff in order to turn the ship around. MoeNovel ... IMHHW had to have been approved for release in its current state by people who did not understand how bad it was. It's going to be hard for Japanese b-game companies (which are usually small and have rapidly-shifting staff makeups) to get the in-house expertise to know when they get good translators, and when they get bad. Eventually they'll catch on to this fact, and (the smaller ones especiaily) will start looking for a group of translators that have done this kind of work before. Well, what is that but a localization outfit? Might as well sign with MangaGamer and take advantage of their programming team to handle the port for you. Yeah, there are large parts of the industry that have consolidated into big groups, and those big groups will be big enough to have a localization arm. However, that already describes MangaGamer (which essentially IS the localization arm of a Japanese company) , and we know MangaGamer has been successful enough that at least one other company has approached them and said "please translate our stuff for us" (Hentai Industries, was it? The really small nukige company.)1 point -

I just finished MYTH, and I liked it, though it definitely isn't for everyone to say the least. MYTH is very, very confusing, which is either a selling point or a huge turn off. I found it to be a selling point- I had a lot of fun thinking about and trying to understand the numerous interwoven plotlines (something that I can't say I've succeeded at, even now). The music is also excellent. But the thing about MYTH is that if those things don't matter to you, or you outright dislike them, you're going to dislike MYTH too, because those two things are really the only reasons you'd read it. Sadly, I found the characters to be subpar and there was a lot of slice of life in the beginning where there didn't need to be, which kept me from liking it a lot more. It also very much feels like a doujin game. There is very little voice acting (a few segments towards the very end have partial), photographic backgrounds are used, and the sprite artwork can be a bit unpleasant to look at at times *cough*. With all that said, I found it to be a very charming and even cathartic, if also flawed, experience as a whole and I sure won't forget it anytime soon. Now that my brain is fried, I'm probably going to read a few lighthearted things to recover, ahaha. Maybe I'll pick up the new Sonohana, it looks really cute even if that isn't necessarily my thing most of the time.1 point -

The impact those tweets had on the company as a whole ultimately ended up being minimal. The drama people were drumming up over it was either manufactured or imagined. SP was never even remotely close to being in danger of dissolution. Sekai Project is literally doing better than ever now, and two tweets literally did not literally almost kill the business, and this is literally one of the most hyperbolic posts I've ever read on this forum. Literally.1 point -

Guys can we at least avoid throwing personal insults at dovac? Criticizing his job decisions is one thing (although I disagree with circlejerking over it but alas), but name calling is something I'd like to avoid seeing. Dovac is a real human being, please keep that in mind before commenting.1 point
