Hey let's blow the dust off of this subforum for a bit shall we? I noticed we haven't really updated the profile info since... Fuwa was made basically (other than that one time we added Steam to user profiles). I figured I'd go ahead and add some things users might want. List of things added so far: Twitter has now been added under Contact Methods Anilist, ANN (Anime News Network) and Kitsu (formerly known as Hummingbird) are now options for those that don't have a MAL account Transgender, Other and Attack Helicopter are now available gender options Projects has now been added under Profile Information where you can specify whatever VN projects you work (or have worked) on. This isn't for me alone though, so I decided to make a thread and ask for people's suggestions regarding what other fields might be useful to have in their profiles. Important note: These are small fields that will go either under your contact methods or your profile information section. They're meant to be short. Preferrably things like the username you have on the respective website or something along those lines. Because of this, things like Youtube channels have already been ruled out due to the URLs being too long. Keep that in mind when suggesting. Furthermore, make sure that your suggestion isn't just for you but is actually something legitimately useful for the users on the forum.

First person in fuwa to have reached 666 posts 3 times, 1000 twice and 4000 twice, I think. Truly an event worth celebrating. Ask me anything. For the 5th time.

MangaGamer finally posted their year 2016 review with several top ten lists. In short: Pretty much all their older big nukiges made it back to the top ten, with ImoPara leading the way. Only the new nukiges Beat Blades Haruka and Funbag Fatasy could fend off their dominance. Rance going strong as expected and Princess Evangile also made a return. No story titles in sight though... . Not really shocked about that anymore - it's every year the same. Although Eden got a top three ranking if I rememer right. I'm not really sure if Steam sales are included or not though since Steam sales got their own list. Not much to say here... Several titles like Eden celebrating a comeback and Kindred Spirits and Ozmafia leading the pack. Would be interesting to know how big Steam sales are in comparison to sales on their own site.

Maybe a field in which you can see what languages someone speaks and at what kind of level? This might be useful for people who are trying to find Japanese speakers/readers for help? Considering that we're dealing with that quite often here. That's all I could come up with for now. I hope it's something worthwhile.

I'm on the fence about languages. It sounds more like the kind of thing you'd have in your about me rather than your profile info, but I'll consider it. As for the projects, I actually think that's a really good idea. I've now added a text box where you can fill in the projects you work (or have worked) on. I'm not sure if just having a text box is enough or if I should let people use the full editor, but I'll leave it as just a textbox for now (the full editor can be really abused so).

In the end, I didn't much care for Beat Blades Haruka, but Funbag Fantasy was a pretty good VN, IMO. I'm not surprised or even unhappy about seeing a game that's got both a strong nukige appeal and a decently-told VN in one box sitting at #2 for their first-party sales. ImoPara is pretty much garbage, though, so seeing it at #3, three years after release, isn't inspiring a lot of confidence... But nukige sell well. What can you do. As the long as the story titles sell well enough that they can keep putting out good ones, I'll be content with that.

Welcome to fuwa, if you want some good utsuge you should read Narcissu, swan song, untranslated I recommend bye, carnival and white breath all of these are very depressing but very good too and if you want something sad but not depressing you can read clannad, yume miru kusuri or ef - a fairy tale of the two. I think I will use your suggestion. The fact the ps3 version was out a month before 2016 kinda puts it in an awkward position, but I guess most of the voting community here are primarily PC 18+ players, so I can make an exception for this...

I agree with both of you Rooke and Kaguya. But I must also say that this dungeon crawler is one hell of a crawler. It keeps me entertained even though I would say this kind of style of game is so outdated. SR is the superior game but that's also a gameplay I grew up with and are more familiar with. But what VI is better at I think iare expanding and going in depth of the characters more than SR. That game is more about the conquest. Looking forward to more Rance titles from MG. They are doing good. Also looking forward to if MG and Alicesoft decides to bring other series over too.

Yeah. SR's gameplay really is one of the very best you'll see in translated VNs, while VI feels kinda meh to me. I don't think it's bad, though. I never liked dungeon crawlers in the first place, which is why I can't really enjoy like over half the entries of the Rance franchise. The army world conquering ones feel a lot nicer to me.

Can't speak for chronic migraines, but am close to someone with advanced PTSD. It's pretty rough on them - everyone reacts differently to it - sometimes with ease, and sometimes with great trouble - it really depends on the depth of the trauma. she takes a lot of meds to keep aspects of it under control, and will likely never lead a completely "normal" life.

Adding those two groups sounds like a great idea. Meanwhile at VNDB... Decay seems to fight for the splitting of the Majikoi A titles. lol

I never heard about this one on JP boards and it only has 70 votes on vndb, with a rating that's... just okay, I guess? I could have maybe included it instead of Memory's Dogma if I knew it was something ppl actually knew about. It did indeed just kind of pass by most people, but it was a very good read if you ask me. (I actually listed it as the best TLed game I read all year. Then again, I didn't read too many, but still.) Tbh it's probably fine not including it, with the small amount of people who actually read it. Not a lot of people know about it tbh, so it wouldn't get a lot of votes. People should read it though. It has a really good story and is completely different from most yuri games released which focus only on cute moe and fluffy romance. The bad ends are chilling and the good ends are beautiful. Overall a very unique and entertaining VN.

Saya no Uta differs in a way, reader is clearly given an explanation, why Fuminori sees the world like that. In denpa-type stories, that does not happen and when it does, it doesn't until the story develops or even ends. Nothing is ever explained in a concise manner and you're only given vague hints, which are often misleading and tend to carry readers astray. Points of view shift, world becomes distorted - you never know exactly when and how. It is up to you to piece everything together and find a solid ground to thread upon... that is, if you can; the very best works in that genre won't allow you that, forever toying with your perception.

This, sadly, looks like someone liking something and completely failing to understand what made it good. Something that, also sadly, seems to be very common with OELVNs. I don't know if you ever have had a migraine, but I can't think of anything feeling much worse. The only thing that makes them bearable are the fact that they will go away.

Yeah, I sure miss the times when Kickstarter was only used for classy things, like potato salad and the Autoblow 2.
