  1. That's what everyone's wondering honestly. Taisho Alice really seems like a good game and it's a shame this guy got the license instead of Mangagamer/Sekai Project/Aksys. I want to see how Primula would react to this.

  2. Has anyone heard of what happened with Taisho Alice's localization? It was a mess- English dub by this one guy, the translation's all over the place and the Hiragana/Katakana Alice/Arisu thing. Otome fans were really disrespected by this company. It was shady from the start but I didn't expect it to be this much of a train wreck. Please check out this thread detailing how bad it was. I believe several translators also commented on the issue.

  4. Yeah I find the constant inability of the human race to communicate with each other and the resultant suffering that causes pretty funny as well.

  5. Looks like everything's turning out for the better. My mom's insurance company is gonna cover the medical costs for the ER visit and the cost of my therapy, which my doctor recommended. I'm also allowed to do minor activities with my arm again, and to just slowly adjust into performing regular tasks. I am allowed to type with my left hand again too, though I'm not able to do it much right now. It's a work in progress, but at least it's something.

  6. Get real hype, people. It's coming June 14th, and initial signs (text on the official website and on the Steam description) are looking good for the TL: http://www.kogado.com/sw/contents/kuroneko/sr2017/en/index.html http://store.steampowered.com/app/629650/Symphonic_Rain/

  7. Then, to be honest, you shouldn't have included it in the rankings at all. 2017 is supposed to have many notable releases, none of which have released yet outside of Grisaia, having it in the list like this is completely pointless

  9. As for the walkthrough, there's one from the translator themselves. The walkthrough in question was only covered both of Midori's and Runa's routes though. It's still easy though to get other three routes even if the walkthrough didn't cover that. Here's the walkthrough in question below, and hope it'll be help for anyone else who play HatsuKoi.

  10. I cant believe i am saying this, but thank you bank account for not being able to afford this game. I probably would have bought it if i had the funds lol. It looked really promising as well. This reminds me of the sao hollow fragment trash translation for the vita lol. EDIT: That voice acting though.. are they trying to create another arc rise fantasia?

  11. What makes me wonder is...does Primula care or know about this? How did these....or....this....guy manage to get their agreement for a localization in the first place...

  13. Part 2 of my VN protag analysis is up. Nothing too profound in it, but it's some fun data looking at what tags tend to crop up most often with different types of protags. https://bunnyadvocate.tumblr.com/post/160500900017/visual-novel-protagonists-part-2

  14. I mean, how heavy stones are we throwing anyway? This is just a topic memeing about a low-status release, it's not like we don't have others like that already for, say, sonicomi, or nympho sensei ryoko, or please bang my wife, et cetera. Taking it too seriously is probably a mistake. I will admit that in my mental map everyone knows what Decay wrote about moenovel's previous, fairly inoffensive release of divinity stage - the tl work is better though nothing special, and it's not spectacular in any way otherwise - or at least I'm too damn lazy to inform them.

  15. Not sure if this is historically accurate or not, but it's interesting at least.

  16. It was quite an interesing request. To tell the truth, those two were not my taste. However, at least I knew some of BL and otome VN. There's Hakuoki (If you had PSP emulator), Ayakashi Gohan, and Black Wolf Saga if you need more recommendations for the otome VNs. For BL, there's No Thank You (It's the real title), Dramatical Murder, and Lamento. Hope those recommendations would be help. PS - All of my recommendations here were translated if you curious whether those VNs were translated or not.

  18. I'm not sure about otome games on PS Vita (if you have one) but Code:Realize is highly recommended. It's a steampunk story-focuses otome game with real-life and literary characters (Arsene Lupin, Victor Frankenstein, etc.) Steam has a variety of otome games. Amnesia: Memories, Nightshade, and Ozmafia are the best Japanese localized otome games. Amnesia: Memories A heroine with Amnesia who tries to regain her memories. It's kinda slice of life-ish but it can get really weird. It also has a lot of bad ends. Nightshade: I really recommend this one because the MC is really amazing. She's basically a shinobi princess but other than that, anyrhing else counts as spoilers. Ozmafia: Grimm's fairytale characters reimagined as Mafia members. A Korean company, Cheritz also has a couple of localized ones- Nameless and Dandelion. Both are also well-regarded. Both are fully voiced in Korean. There are also OELVNs that are quite good. Backstage Pass is fully voiced in English. It has stats-raising though. Games without voices that are good are X-Note, Area-X, The Royal Trap, and Mystic Destinies. There's a pretty notable free game on Steam too. Cinderella Phenomenon is free, has an interesting story and has maybe 25+ hours of content. Itch.io and the lemmasoft forums have a lot of free EVN otomes like Asagao Academy, Airis, and Lads in Distress.

  20. Which would you recommend I start with, considering my stated tastes (strong protagonists, intelligent characters, interesting settings)?

  21. @Kiriririri Yep, this analysis is just on what's popular so more obscure niche stuff, both in Japan and for OELVNs, aren't well represented. It's not meant to be a complete picture of the VN scene, just of what the "mainstream" is (in as much as the VN scene has a mainstream). My analysis on trends with VN protagonists is now up: https://bunnyadvocate.tumblr.com/post/159955558977/visual-novel-protagonists-what-are-they-made-of I hope you guys enjoy it, I had a lot of fun analysing the data. There's some fun stuff to come in part 2, some odd connections that I didn't expect.
