Hey all, as usual here's my once a year post before I go back to lurking again. Today at ACEN was the Denpasoft panel. Below are the videos from today. I recommend sticking around for the Q&A, it gets funny and weird. I'll post pictures later when I'm not drunk/tired. Tomorrow is Sekai Project and Mangagamer. I'll add them when I can. 18+ G-Senjou, FINALLY. It's really nice to see that they actually listen to fans. It was really difficult for them to negotiate with Akabeisoft apparently. Us fans constantly pestering them about it was one of the reasons they got the 18+ deal. (They apparently used the feedback from fans and showed it to the developers.) So yeah, good stuff!1 point

Denpasoft finally got their own panel at a convention. ACEN Announcements ChronoClock will be coming out completely uncensored! The update will have all of the original CGs without mosaics! (no idea on how this will be distributed nor whether they will charge extra for it) G-Senjou no Maou: 18+ Unrated/Uncut Edition. (The previously Steam only title is getting a proper release finally...here's hoping the game is not cropped like the Steam version though). Eternal Hour: Currently in kickstarter seems to be a western vn but with 18+ content and time manipulation of some sort. Re;Lord: Strip Battle SLG with comedy and a light/under 10 hour or so linear story...has sequels/spin-offs and from the company Escude Wagamama High Spec 18+ confirmed to be coming to denpasoft soon1 point

Character designs (with post on The Last Birdling)
shcboomer reacted to InvertMouse for a topic
Hi there . As always, I hate stealth promos, so I want to share my post on The Last Birdling first: To avoid more shameless plugs, I would like to dedicate this thread to character designs in general. From all the VNs you have played, are there any character designs that stand out? A few of my thoughts: 1) It doesn't necessarily have to be about the costumes. For instance, perhaps a character sports a hairstyle you have never seen before. 2) Sometimes, it can be about body types. Let's say with Love Live (though it is not a VN), I think plenty of people appreciate Nozomi. Though she is pretty of course, she also stands out by not necessarily fitting into the unrealistically slim stereotype. 3) Many VNs take place in school settings. This limits what designers can do, but the uniforms themselves can stand out, and the cast still have casual clothes. Also, what designers do to separate characters from one another while in uniform is worth a mention. Different shoes, sock lengths etc. It undoubtedly also helps fulfill a various of fetishes. Happy to hear examples, opinions and anything else related to the topic of design. Thank you !1 point -

That's not entire accurate. What gamers usually do is rely more on straifing to hit the target rather than actually looking at it. So you usually look in the general direction of the target and strife left of right for accuracy.1 point -

You could get a mouse+keyboard adapter for consoles like XIM4 and the like if you'd rather avoid the horror that is using a controller for FPS games. It is expensive, however.1 point -

You can aim pretty well without auto-aim, and i too am a PC elitist. It's mostly muscle reflex, the more you play, the more you'll get skills1 point -
DeSmuME is the most efficient and feature complete emulator. Sound issues aren't uncommon but those can be easily fixed, while modern multicore cpu's can typically make it less noticeable. There are workarounds to fix most of the problems, unless you own a toaster cpu (the likes of intel Atom or AMD E-series etc); those are simply incapable to perform fast enough for DeSmuME.1 point

A love for older VNs
InvertMouse reacted to kivandopulus for a topic
I'm keeping a whole blog here on fuwa to dig for old VN gems. So far the quantity of VNs with interesting/fun plot in late 80s - early 90s surpassed my boldest expectations.1 point -

Libra of the Vampire Princess - Releasing May 16th, 2017
Suzu Fanatic reacted to Fred the Barber for a topic
Kabu's point is a good one, though: games are massively more complex now than they used to be. VNs, honestly, shouldn't be by as much since they aren't that much more complex than they used to be (generally), but if you look at the thing that's delaying them in the case of Libra, it's exactly the new technology they aren't familiar with: Steam features. For AAA games, it's clearly the complexity that leads to this. Hundreds of people work on one AAA game at a time. Scheduling a single project with that many moving parts is exceptionally difficult, and when such a project undergoes a large directional change (which happens), turning that ship can easily mean years of setback and lost work. Alternatively, if they have that kind of directional change and then choose not to delay, and instead just ship what they can by repurposing their assets and building something with it, we end up with Destiny (that is, in fact, what happened to Destiny, and why the story is incoherent and basically non-existent).1 point -
Hatsukoi 1/1
Eins Alf reacted to littleshogun for a topic
Hatsukoi 1/1 Summary Yuuma is a second year student at the prestigious public school Hoshioka Gakuen. It is known for offering a fulfilling school life, but he has yet to experience love and spends his days lacking any satisfaction. He hasn’t made any progress with his classmates nor his osananajimi. All he can do is look at his love interest, the student council leader Midori, from a distance. One day, he saw her with a troubled face. It seemed that the remaining members of the school cafeteria improvement committee had resigned. After giving it some thought, he volunteered to lead the committee. After that fateful moment, his surroundings became a lot more lively and before long, his first love had blossomed. Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order This VN has five heroines, Maya, Kyou, Midori, Yukino, and Runa. Since this is charage, feel free to play whatever order you like. That said, Route Guideline As for the choices that didn't exist in this walkthrough, all of those were available after past May 2nd in which you're already locked at one route. Therefore, if you see the choice after May 2nd, feel free to chose whichever you like. Tsukishima Kyou Tokizaki Maya Makabe Midori Fujikawa Runa Morino Yukino Attribution This walkthrough is based from the walkthrough made by the translator themselves with some adjustment made by myself.1 point -

I'm sure Rooke is a diehard fan of Nekopara and Sunrider Academy. The writing in Nekopara definitely blew him away and caused him to demand more from VNs like fault milestone.1 point

I think I was damaged by the hundreds of mosaiced vns I've read; I can't even look at the non-mosaiced HCGs anymore -- they look real creepy to me now xD (I can only imagine how'd they look to a native Japanese that has been brought up on mosaics from the get-go).1 point
