HoshiMemo review discussion

These kinds of questions are generally really hard to answer unless you're intimately involved with the project, or at least the company, which I'm not. I will say that localization is really hard in general, and that in cases like this, it's usually a combination of many things going wrong, rather than something you can lay on any one individual's shoulders. One thing you learn from professionally doing pretty much anything is that you're better off blaming processes, rather than individuals. Sekai Project's localization process wasn't working very well in this case, which could have led to this kind of result through any number of avenues. Some of the possible things that could have resulted in include: insufficient time given to individuals to complete their work (I would guess this is the most common contributor to game localizations gone awry in general) insufficiently experienced individuals working on the project (probably the second-most common) insufficient oversight and checking of individuals' work (because everybody makes mistakes, so you need enough checks and balances across the board to keep things in line) too many people working on the project without enough centralized decision-making power to steer it in the right direction And probably there are tons of other things I'm not thinking of. I have no way to know if some or any of these are applicable to this particular case, but probably. The money is probably a big part of explaining the root cause for these problems. It's easy to look at the HoshiMemo Kickstarter numbers and assert that SP must have made tons of money, but a pretty huge portion of their actual take from Kickstarter funds goes towards paying for the goods. For the remainder, well, localization takes a whole lot of people a whole lot of time. Most of the people doing translation and editing work on visual novels (and probably other roles as well, though I'm less familiar with them) are making somewhere in the ballpark of minimum wage, or less, in spite of it being a highly skilled profession. Evan (lead translator for Muv Luv) had good comments on this topic (click through for a couple more replies closer to the "what could have gone wrong" question):7 points -
With its delicious humor, skillful localization and delightful court antics combined with slightly above okay tier ADV gameplay, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is a good contender for the top 0 vns of all time list, since it isn't a visual novel.4 points

HoshiMemo review discussion
Zakamutt and 2 others reacted to Barry Benson for a topic
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Hoshimemo. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of creative writing most of the lines will go over a typical reader's head. There’s also Chuee's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into the characterisation of the heroines- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Leyline, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these lines, to realise that they’re not just badly written - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Hoshimemo's Translation truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the deepness in the narrator's existential catchphrase “Mare's face is instantly shrouds in a hue of weariness,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Fred's favourite VN Karakara 2 (which he gave a 5/5, mind you). I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Chuee’s genius wit unfolds itself on their PC screens. What fools.. how I pity them. And yes, by the way, i DO have a Hoshimemo tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the waifus’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid3 points -
Hey guys, Vanis here. I'm the programmer for Tentakero and I wanted to share with you guys our current game in development. Project Cappuccino. Some of you may have seen our demo on websites like NewGrounds and GameJolt but we have a downloadable version for you to try that's a lot nicer looking. (You can blow it up full screen ;P) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LERjBBcUQ5dx33AdQhFMSJxEvYrHHOybjR083bM2zYI/edit?usp=sharing About the Game You've landed a job at the Resting Bean Cafe & Inn! Friendly coworkers, great pay, a cute uniform-- It's like a dream come true! However, appearances can sometimes be deceiving... You quickly discover that the Resting Bean has it's share of secrets. Teamed up with Sophie, you decide to investigate the mysterious happenings in the cafe, but it will prove to be a harder task when your carnal desires seem to distract you at every turn. Just what will you discover? Game Play The general story content can be played through in VN fashion, proceeding through chapters. At the moment, we are currently working on Chapter 2, a portion of which is available in our demo. During the work day, you assign tasks to your maids, earning you money which you will then be able to use in our shop system once it is in place. The shop will allow you to buy new toys to use in NSFW game scenes with the girls. Screenshots Characters Sophie moved to the city from a small rural town. Her initial goal was to find a part time job while she studied, however, she fell in love with working at the Resting Bean Cafe and decided to devote full time to her job. She now dreams of owning her own cafe or restaurant one day. Sophie practiced Jiu-Jitsu back in her hometown and has recently become a black belt. A true social butterfly who loves meeting new people and making new friends. The present manager of the Resting Bean Cafe. Mira tends to be secretive about her past. To date, no one has learned much about her. She can be stern at times but seems friendly during most interactions. Some would call her a perfectionist with expensive tastes. Sophie has noticed that she’s rather lazy when it comes to manual work and would prefer to offload her responsibilities on others. The original owner and manager of the Resting Bean Cafe. She claims that her puppet like appearance is the result of a curse placed on her, however, Colette has been secretive about how it happened and refuses to give any details. Her mannerisms can be cold and distant, making her true feelings difficult to read. From what you can tell, her relationship with Mira is a strained one. What is she hiding? Social Media If you would like to keep up with ongoing development of the game, you can follow us basically anywhere: http://twitter.com/tentakero http://tentakero.tumblr.com There's more in store when it comes to characters but we aren't ready to present that just yet. We'll be updating this thread periodically with new content that has been added, primarily when a new public build is released. We appreciate any feedback/questions as we are constantly trying to improve any issues people may come across. Thanks! - Vanis2 points

50 VNs in English that you should try at least once
Kajahara and one other reacted to littleshogun for a topic
Seeing that we have many threads in regard of recommendation, and the sources was a thread that asking if we should have a new 50 VNs list that was created by mod Kaguya, I thought that perhaps I should make the one as well. As for the list, I decided to joined both of the old and new lists because after all even some of the old stuff should still have some relevance even now. Anyway, for the personal list list I decided to just limit it into no nukige and no yaoi for now here but feel free to suggest those later, and I'll consider to add those in the list and change one of initial title to honorable mention. So obviously for the initial lists I'll just list 50 translated VNs for now - also I'll just limit it up to 2017 releases for now. Oh and before forgot, the number here was not referring to my preference here. Also when you in doubt in regard of play that or not and didn't want to browse VNDB, I'll add the scores for both of Bayesian and average from VNDB. Note that the score was pretty much quite subjective, so don't let the score deter you to try the VN all right. 1. Umineko (Average 8.75, Bayesian 8.72) and the sequel (Average 8.72, Bayesian 8.67) 2. Symphonic Rain (Average 8.22, Bayesian 8.14) 3. Ayakashibito (Average 7.75, Bayesian 7.65) 4. Yurirei (Average 7.95, Bayesian 7.77) Keep in mind that in regard of the score, it might be change in the future. I think that's all in regard of 50 VNs that I could think for now, and once again feel free to suggest what kind of VN that I should add here. Hope the list would be help to anyone else here who need some VNs recommendations. Edit - Now that I think of it, I should add that it's only English release here for the title in the first place. So no Japanese only release here, and that's final.2 points -

This is the latest release by Saga Planets, the makers of Hatsuyuki Sakura and Natsuyume Nagisa. This, like many of the games by this company, is an emotional game that sort of edges around being a straight-out charage, though it can't really be called a story-focused or a true nakige. This kind of genre ambiguity is common to this company's better works, so in that sense, it probably wasn't a bad choice, overall. First, I should say I skipped Akane's path. I played the first three heroine paths and enjoyed them, but Akane's path was so... cliched that I had to skip it after the midpoint. I was also impatient to get to Ria's path, lol. Anyway, this game begins with Ichimatsu Ouro, the protagonist, encountering the princess of a fictional north-European superpower, and her dragging him to a school for elites as a result. I'll be straight with you about this... disregard the getchu page info entirely. Even the best of the info there is misleading, probably deliberately. Anyway, Ouro, who was looking to get away from his life anyway, takes advantage of entering the new school, getting along with Sylvia, Elle (Sylvia's bodyguard), Rena (a friendly fashionista who is also Sylvia's friend), and Ria (a smoker and delinquent girl he meets on the rooftop) while managing to gradually make his own niche at a school mostly full of rich people. Now, it needs to be said... there should have been an Ayaka path in this game. Ayaka is a snarky little ass at the beginning, but she would have made a great heroine. Moreover, it was rather obvious that the writer wanted her to be one (there are lots of elements that could turn her deredere at a moment's notice), so I'm expecting an FD with an Ayaka route, later, lol. Getting back to the rest of the game (I'm writing this at nine in the morning, after not sleeping to finish it), Sylvia's path is easily the strongest of the three heroines that are available from the beginning. Part of this is because of her generally affectionate nature, part of it is because of her position in life (Princess with insanely loyal followers), and part of it is because she is just that great of a character in general. Her path actually has two different endings, depending on whether you've seen Ria's ending or not. The second ending is basically an additional epilogue based several years after the end of the story, and it is obvious to see why you needed to see it only after seeing Ria's ending. Elle... is the classic straight-laced heroine that goes insanely deredere once she falls in love. I honestly enjoyed her path immensely, even as I felt they were stretching credulity a bit with some of the twists and turns (based on Elle's personality, I honestly couldn't see her making some of the choices she did, even with Sylvia's encouragement). Nonetheless, if you want to see a seemingly hard-edged woman go all soft and mushy, this is a great path. Rena... is the classic 'close friends suddenly become lovers' path. The beginning of their romantic relationship is hilarious and the lead up into the ending is excellent, with a perfect epilogue, given the path they chose in life. I will say that this is the only path where the protagonist stands up to his recent past in its entirety, so in that sense, it is perhaps the most complete of the paths up to this point. Ria's path... is the game's main path. Ria herself is not much of a delinquent... for all that she is foul-mouthed and a smoker, she is at the same time kind-hearted and very much at ease with the protagonist after a few initial bumps. However, for her path... this is the path that threatens to define this game as a nakige... with good reason. If you paid attention to the extensive foreshadowing in the other heroine paths, you will probably be able to figure out what the core crisis of this path is, but this is also the path where Ouro shows himself at his best, right to the very end. Now, I need to go into Ouro, which I normally would have done first. Ouro is mostly your average guy... save for the fact that he is insanely thoughtful and good in a crisis. However, what is stronger about him is that he generally knows when he is at his limit and finds someone to lean on at the right times, without going all dependent and whiny. That said, I really, really, really wish they hadn't made him of average-level intelligence and lazy when it comes to studying. That particular trope is one I wish they'd chop up then wash down the drain in pieces, forever. Overall, this is an enjoyable game... the foreshadowing for Ria's path is a bit excessive, Akane's path was unnecessary, and this game needed an Ayaka path... However, this was still a fun game to play. I left this game behind with a feeling of satisfaction, and, if I still keep going back to wanting an Ayaka path (yes, I do), I'm sure Saga Planets will eventually oblige, lol. Edit: I should also mention that the reason Akane's path is not enjoyable is primarily because it doesn't 'fit'. It doesn't fulfill a need the others don't, and Akane herself pales compared to the other heroines. Worse, she is the only girl with a sprite who doesn't fit into that close 'circle' they have going, so there is almost no development of her character outside her own path. In addition to Ayaka, this game could have also used a Mina path, if only because Mina (Sylvia's little sister) is so obviously on the edge of falling for the protagonist anyway in several of the paths... in the sense that a woman who loves 'reforming' men falls in love with one of her projects, lol.1 point

25 Otome Games Worth Reading
NaomiLin reacted to MaggieROBOT for a topic
After Silvz's idea to make a new list of recommendations, I decided to make one just for otomege, because the general list will not have a single one. Probably. So you can look here if you're in the mood for some romance games with female protagonists. First of all, this list is MY OPINION so it's not like only those are good, the rest is trash (Or "you put xyz in here, this game is trash!"). Also, I tried to put all types of things in here, from dating sims to plotges, even if some of those titles aren't thaaaaaaat good for me simply bc it didn't fall in what I usually like (I prefer plotges than charages, mind you). Of course, you're free to add some feedback, this list is not definitive. The order is completely random, nº 1 game is not necessarely better than nº 7! It's too much work to add descriptions, so I'll put at least important tags for you to see what can interest you. Of course I didn't include the "Romance" tag bc every single one of these games have it. The only ones that have sexual content are the ones I said. This list contains both translated and untranslated stuff. I'll probably do one for BL games too... Translated Otomeges 01 - Code: Realize ~Guardian of Rebirth~ Notable tags: Steampunk, Strong Female Protagonist, Alchemy 02 - Hakuouki ~Demon of the Fleeting Blossom~ Notable tags: Edo Era, Hero based on Real Person, Sword Combat 03 - Black Wolves Saga ~Bloody Nightmare~ Notable tags: Medieval Fantasy, Madness, Discrimination 04 - Nameless ~The One Thing You Must Recall~ Notable tags: Modern Day Korea, Living Doll Hero, Drama 05 - Collar x Mallice Notable tags: Terrorism, Police, Mystery 06 - Amnesia: Memories Notable tags: Unique Routes, Drama, Alternate Dimensions 07 - The Second Reproduction Notable tags: Fighting Protagonist, Fantasy, Demons 08 - Heart no Kuni no Alice ~Wonderful Wonder World~ Notable tags: Literary Adaptation, Trapped, More than Seven Heroes 09 - Cinderella Phenomenon Notable tags: Proactive Protagonist, Curse, Fairy Tale (This one is an OELVN) 10 - Ayakashi Gohan Notable tags: Youkai, Countryside, Multiple Common Routes 11 - Dandelion ~Wishes Brought To You~ Notable tags: Kemonomimi Hero, Dating Simulation, Non-Japanese Voice Acting (Seriously, use a walkthrough for this one) 12 - Norn 9: Var Commons Notable tags: Protagonist Selection, ESP, Dystopia 13 - Ozmafia!! Notable tags: Dramatic Love Triangle, Same Roof, Amnesia 14 - Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome Notable tags: Slice of Life Comedy, Joke Endings, Sexual Content 15 - Bad Apple Wars Notable tags: Afterlife, High School, Nakige 16 - Cupid Notable tags: Gothic Romance, Mystery, Protagonist with Psychological Problems (This one is an OELVN) Untranslated Otomeges 17 - Shinigami to Shoujo Notable tags: Brother/Sister Romance, Philosophy, Episodic Story (Several times I heard people said that this one is the "kamige" of the otomes) 18 - Ken ga Kimi Notable tags: Edo Era, Youkai, Sword Combat 19 - Clock Zero ~Shuuen no Ichibyou~ Notable tags: Nakige, Post Apocalyptic Earth, Genre Shift 20 - Yoshiwara Higanbana Notable tags: Drama, Brothel, Sexual Content (Bring tissues) 21 - Kokuchou no Psychedelica Notable tags: Life and Death Drama, Trapped, Monsters (Aksys will localize this one next year!) 22 - Watashi no Real wa Juujitsu Shisugiteiru Notable tags: Otaku Protagonist, Same Roof, High School (Super easy to self insert here, but I don't really play for that) 23 - Sakuya Notable tags: Robot Hero, Future Japan, Sexual Content (The free version, without the sexual content and with only one route, is actually translated with VNR user-submitted subs) 24 - Danzai no Maria ~The Exorcism of Maria~ Notable tags: Christian Church, Magic, Timed Choices 25 - Bloody Call Notable tags: Action, Fantasy, High School (the "chuuniest" of the bunch) Extra Stuff If you think that 25 is not enough, you can also try these novels recommended to me by awesome forum guys! 26 - Cinders (EN) Notable tags: Fairy Tale, Lots of Choices, Proactive Protagonist (suggestion by Plk_Lesiak, confirmed to be an otomege by Tamaki Sakura, but Palas added that it's not really focused in romance, thanks everyone for the feedback! Btw, this is an OELVN) 27 - Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 3rd Story (EN) Notable tags: Dating Simulation, High School, Threesome Ending (suggestion by onorub) 28 - Arcana Famiglia (JP) Notable tags: Mute Protagonist, Comedy, Italian Mafia (thanks onorub to make me remember that it exists >.<) 29 - Café 0 Series (EN) Notable tags: Death of Protagonist, Multiple Routes Mystery, Life and Death Drama (suggestion by SeniorBlitz) 30 - The Confines of the Crown (EN) Notable tags: Fighting Protagonist, Strong Female Protagonist, Multiple Route Mystery (suggestion by Palas. Project Cappuccino - V1.15.0! [NSFW]
Plk_Lesiak reacted to Vanis for a topic
As far as the porn content goes, the story does take a sexual turn and it is a big plot point in the upcoming chapters that we have planned. The NSFW scenes are tied to the story and we intend to have different room options for use besides the standard bedroom. Our goal is to blend both the NSFW content and the story narrative as seamlessly as possible while still being able to access NSFW scenes through the free play mode if the player wishes to do so. All in all the ratio of porn content to story content is likely going to be around 50/50 if all goes accordingly. It basically is a sex driven story that we decided to improve on by making the actual sex aspects of them playable so to say. The protagonist is the player themselves and can actually end up becoming an antagonist depending on your story choices. We've definitely got some surprises in store. Player gender is selectable and there will be a few minor differences depending on which gender you play as, primarily in the CG's.1 point -

Problems like this almost always point to a management issue of some kind. Sekai Project released 2 games that clearly weren't ready on the same day. Then they released a third game like a week later. Clearly they rushed these out, so they could get them out by the end of the year. That's a management decision. There could be a lot of reasons for this. We've seen a lot of evidence that Sekai Project struggles with the day-to-day realities of running a company. Their public communication leaves something to be desired. They seem to have trouble juggling the huge number of projects that they're working on; many have experienced huge delays from their original projected timelines. I suspect the root problem is that they're trying to juggle too many balls and are having trouble keeping them in the air. And they haven't got enough pairs of eyes to keep on them. Dovac's comments about untranslated lines in Leyline are telling. It doesn't take six months to find untranslated lines and fix them. (And yes, I write code for a living.) It takes at most a few weeks to write a tool to generate a report with all the missing lines. Then at most another 2 weeks (if that!) to get everything translated and a new build into QA again. A good project manager would know that. Sekai Project is managing so many different projects that they need a project manager. These debacles tell me they probably haven't got one. As for HoshiMemo's translation problems, that probably boils down to the choice of translator and editor. Whoever was in charge of the project put people on it that shouldn't have been on it. There could be any number of reasons for that. Perhaps they didn't do a thorough enough job vetting them. Perhaps this was the best they could do because all the good people were booked on other projects. We don't know, and they won't say.1 point -

Yea It's kinda easy to see the bias in his review though I very much agree with the disaster of the translation. The worst part is that they had a decent amount of time to translate and check. Untranslated lines should be the easiest to spot. I speculate ( and this is pure speculation) that they are just trying to take on too many projects at once. While they try to be professional they are still a relatively small company so I'm guessing they didn't manage their time and resources and too on too many projects at once. Which is purely their fault. If there's any consolation they did release an apology Hopefully they will fix this and learn from their mistakes....Definitely lost some faith1 point -

I only buy digital and generally buy from steam because their regional pricing is WAAAAY better than the exchange rates the credit card companies use (but worse than the real exchange rate). If it isn’t available on Steam or doesn’t have a patch, then I buy it from the publisher’s site- specifically mangagamer so far. I do have a few from Denpasoft (Grisaia), but those were from the Kickstarter. I’ve got a few others from Kickstarter as well, or will if when they come out to be more exact.1 point -
[Review] Shingakkou ~Noli me Tangere~
MaggieROBOT reacted to Plk_Lesiak for a blog entry
Well, it was super-informative and made me want to play a game in the genre that is pretty much at the very bottom of my preferred romance scenarios, just above futa and trap, so I would call it a success. :3 I guess all fan projects have the tendency to die like that, I know much more about the modding scene than TLs, but in both cases I'm impressed that anyone even attempts doing something which involves such obscene amounts of work. :s Well, one more reason to take certain common advice around here to heart. I think I will have to slow down on writing stuff to actually get back on track with my Japanese lessons though. "Remember, you have posts prepared for the next month and a half, you don't need to make a new one every week. No need to get fixated on that. You can do it all slowly and steadily. Be cool." *hyperventilating into a bag*1 point -
VN with hate/revenge portrayed (relative) positively?
Strike105X reacted to ChaosRaven for a topic
Inglorious Basterds, a Quentin Tarantino movie. Regarding the original question, I think there aren't that much translated story VN's with a revenge theme. I guess Chusingura might come closest to what you're looking for. G-Senjou and Umineko also come to mind, but those handle revenge somewhat differently. And naturally, there are countless dark hentai nukiges with 'revenge theme' but I hope guess you're aren't looking for those.1 point -

What are you playing?
Mr Poltroon reacted to littleshogun for a topic
At least Chaos duology girls did good job enough as eye candy at the first glance if one find the girls story (ie route) was quite lacking, although of course some people would like the girls as it is. For the topic, I finished Mamatoto and it was quite fun. The gameplay for the most part was very easy and mostly you didn't need to grinding and strategize much, expect for the final boss (MC's dad Kakaro) in which I didn't had much problem fighting it because my average party level was at around 30. Then again, Kakaro might give some problem though if one was at around level 20 for the party. Story was very simple because basically it was just Mamatoto fighting against three countries for the world peace, except instead like Kichikuou or Daibanchou it was chapter based which make this very linear (Well you could get different ending for multiple characters based on Nanas point, but that's it). Some OST was remixed from Kichikuou, and it's quite noticeable there to me but I think it's still serviceable though. For my last word here, if you interested with drinking game you could make one based on recruitement scenes which managed by Nanas and happened automatically, because there's a lot of that in Mamatoto.1 point -
Favorite BGM/soundtrack of a Visual Novel
Mr Poltroon reacted to littleshogun for a topic
Here's Mamatoto's Running to The Straight since I recently play that. Enjoy. PS - It's a shame though that Alicesoft didn't use this BGM as Mamatoto's final boss theme considering it was fitting enough imo, and most importantly the remix of this was Rance IX final boss theme.1 point -
Sheesh, this is dangerous... I'll make sure to keep my eye on you guys from now on... For the record, the whole thing is a sham, I've already found nine duplicates in there. Back to you, Nagi!1 point

I'm bumping this for the same reason I made this thread; to recruit people. The past three weeks, the courtroom hasn't been going on as a result of people being busy with other things and people taking showers, but I think it'd really be a shame if this were to die out so easily. For those interested, we're currently somewhere in the middle of the third case (Turnabout Big Top) in Justice for All, just after the first day in court. If the time is inconvenient for you, then it can be changed as long as everyone else agrees, but it might be hard to do so since there's people from all sorts of time zones. If you have any questions after reading the first post, feel free to ask away. I hope to see you next Sunday!1 point

TL Thread Guidelines How should I Format the Thread? No specific formatting style; just follow these Minimum Formatting Guidelines to include a proper thread title, project introduction, and progress: Thread Title Your thread title should be of this type: VN/Project Title + (Latest Update)* *(Latest Update) is optional, use it for your most recent released update ie. (Common Route Patch Released) If for any reason you feel the need to make the title follow any different standard, contact a mod and explain your reasons. Exceptions/changes can be made. Project Introduction Introduce your project team, the project you are working on, and any relevant info such as the Visual Novel's name, a VNDB link (if available), your website, recruiting status, etc. Progress Outline the current progress made in your project. Keep this up-to-date. You should have this section even if you haven't made any progress yet. Beyond the Minimum Formatting, you can also take a look at this sample guide of a typical thread's contents: Where does my Thread go? If you are looking to start a TL project or already have one underway, you can simply make a thread following the already detailed guidelines in the Translation Projects forum. If you are currently recruiting members, consider making a thread recruiting over in the Recruitment subforum. Note that this is separate from your main project thread where you give updates and people comment. Once work on the project has finished and the project is complete, it'll be moved to the Released subforum. Finally, be aware that inactive projects will be moved to the Archives. A project is considered inactive if it goes without any updates for over a year. Additionally, recruitment threads will be removed from the Recruitment subforum after 6 months of no updates on the main thread. Do not worry too much if you end up making your thread in the wrong section. A staff member is likely to move it to the correct place. I'm Recruiting - What should I do to get more People? If your project is recruiting here are some various things you could try: Add [Recruiting] and prefix it to your thread title. If you are currently recruiting members, consider making a thread recruiting over in the Recruitment subforum. Take advantage of the forum's development blogs! More info how to access dev blogs here. You could check various external places and websites: {/r/visualnovels; Aarinfantasy; LemmaSoft} Make your own Website/Thread and have it linked to VNDB. People who come across said game will all be redirected towards your efforts. You could try to look through our Fan Translator Skills Registration thread in order to find the right people. For more PR methods, check this thread, where you can learn how to make Recruitment Blog Posts or how to promote your Project. Check this thread for member suggestions! Additional Rules & Posting Guidelines Posts which violate the general Forum Rules will be moderated as usual. However, this board will be more strictly moderated than the other boards. Translating Already Licensed Products If the product you are looking to translate has already been licensed by a publisher, that means they have paid for the right to create and publish a translation for said product. In this situation, creating fan projects that are in direct competition with publishers who have paid for the right to legally create a translation is simply bad sport and may create legal conflicts. For this reason, such projects will not be allowed to be hosted or advertised on Fuwanovel. This is in direct opposition to projects that aim only to modify an already published translation. Such projects, as long as they require that the published translation be bought, are not in competition with publishers, and therefore allowed. Multiple Short Projects If you are promoting multiple short (<2 hours) projects in the same series (such as episodic or chapter-based projects), they should all be covered in a single thread, so as to not dilute and fragment visibility, views, and discussion. Payment options Any form of payment options for patches is NOT allowed. taking payment for patches is illegal and a conflict on copyright law. Hiding Posts Due to the nature of the board, irrelevant chatter is discouraged. However, support, feedback, and relevant discussion is very much welcome in their respective threads. Posts which WILL be hidden include: Off-topic chatter* Excessively harsh criticism** *Posts that do not in any way involve or are relevant to the project team, their project, or the product they are working on. **Keep the criticism constructive. Criticism that begins to berate, belittle, or outright harass a project's efforts will be hidden. Posts which WON'T be hidden include: Feedback "Good luck!" posts. "I'm looking forward to this!" posts. "Thank you very much!" posts. Questions regarding the translation, the team, or the progress. Discussion regarding the translation or the team. Discussion about the game in question (In the eventuality of a final release, these will be split into a new topic for discussion over in VN Talk forums). If a post of yours is hidden and you wish to contest, please PM a moderator for further inquiry. Do NOT contest moderation decisions publicly - these posts will be hidden. Keep it to PMs.1 point

Might I ask why Kamidori is sitting there? I distinctly remember around 500 hours of grinding and about 1 hour (combined) of plot throughout that "VN". It plays more like a JRPG than a visual novel.0 points

HoshiMemo review discussion
Barry Benson reacted to littleshogun for a topic
@Stormwolf Just ignore him and treat his (Barry Benson) post as the spam if I may suggest something Anyway, as for this review I can't help but wonder whether Fuwanovel here dislike Hoshimemo for personal reason, because I find it that two of the reviews here gave the bad score. Although in the end, it's up to each people though to like it or not so it's not like I could say much about it (Or ban Fred if I'm the moderator here). Oh, and thanks for indirectly supporting my opinion that this release was super redundant there lol, because at least the fan translated version should have all the lines translated. PS - By the way, according to one post that I'd read, Akerou himself was Germany so at least Fred was right in regard of the translator was non-native English speaker.0 points
