I work in software myself. Their explanation makes perfect sense to me. They fell victim to one of the classic blunders: They made a risky change (upgrading a version in their script compiler) that they thought was a mostly-harmless change. Because it was right before the games were supposed to release, they said 'we just need to do a quick check and make sure nothing broke' when what they really needed to do was another full runthrough of the game. Why would they do this? Because their tests are still manual. Someone has to manually play the game and check for untranslated lines. This is another of the classic blunders. Something like checking for untranslated lines, or checking to make sure that there are no 'orphaned' parts of the script (lines that exist in the data but the engine never actually displays), can and should be automated. Anytime a build is generated, those checks should be run automatically. This is a bit more expensive to develop up front (because you have to write the tools to run these tests, and the infrastructure to do it automatically) but it saves a lot of QA effort, and avoids humiliating incidents like these. So they made a risky change they didn't realize was risky, and it blew up in their faces. Okay, fine. There's nothing out of the ordinary about this. It happens. And they can't revert the change, because it would cause even less acceptable issues. Also nothing unusual. Then they discovered fixing it requires rewriting the game engine, which is riddled with inline assembler (ugh!), and is generally a pain in the ass. Again, there's nothing unusual about this. There's two things about this that get me. First, Sekai's QA processes are clearly insufficient. The game should never have gotten out of the door like this. They need better tools and processes so they don't do so much manually. Each project needs to build a button that fires off a test to find out whether there are any untranslated lines. And they need to push that button every time they make any change. Second, this is Sekai Project being Sekai Project again: You must have known this weeks ago ago, guys. This happened right before Christmas, they might not have even started looking at it until early January, then it takes a while to really understand the problem. Then it takes a while to realize 'no, this isn't a quick fix'. By this time it's probably around mid-January. So why was it only announced this week? Look. Everybody makes mistakes. Bugs happen. But there's no excuse for not announcing this as soon as they knew what the root cause was. This is like them announcing they'd talk about Maitetsu 18+ at a con, then not doing it, and then leaving it hanging for months.

The western otome scene offers a decent amount of hidden gems – small, often obscure titles, that nonetheless offer impressive artistic qualities and/or interesting, unique ideas. It also never stops being surprising to me how many of those games are published for free, sometimes even without any Patreon support or other direct forms of monetization on the part of their creators. Magical Otoge Ciel and Magical Otoge Anholly, developed by Batensan and published for free on Itch.io in 2015 and 2016, are among many high-quality, free otome VNs produced by the booming indie scene in recent years. Still, their author was able to establish a fairly interesting, distinct style both when it goes to art and the storytelling, very consistent between instalments and likely to be continued this year with the upcoming Magical Otoge Iris (with major hints at other, future projects). As both games are fairly short and simple, I've decided to review them together – the very similar writing, art assets and even shared elements such as UI structure and parts of the soundtrack make it justifiable to treat them basically as episodes of a single game. That's not a bad dream... but more and more small otaku-related retail businesses are going bankrupt even in areas with active communities these days. It is really, really hard to compete with online retailing for the 'base media' (LNs, VNs, manga, anime, etc). Specializing in importation sometimes works, apparently, but the costs of buying stuff in Japan and bringing it over here mean that you'll end up asking for even more than the Japanese base price, which is already more than most people are willing to pay for a single game, book, manga, or blu-ray. You actually might have more success setting up something like a manga cafe, providing a friendly environment for people to play games, read manga and LNs, and otherwise indulge their otaku hobbies. That kind of thing is rare over here, so far. Depending on how large the local community is, it would probably be workable for you. For all the jokes about most of us being 'hikikomori' and the like, most otaku are just normal guys and gals with a few odd hobbies and maybe a bit of weabooism on the side. Small note:

Goddamn. It took me over 2 and a half years to get to this mark after taking 5 months to get to 1000. Well, I guess I'll explain my story on this site again for all of those people who didn't recognize me from my early days. I arrived on this site in October of 2015 as a guy who didn't have any clue about the community in general. Over time, I posted way too much for any normal human being and that caused me to be recruited by former shitposter @Dergonu and along with the now forum-dead NTR queen @CeruleanGamer, we formed this spammer group and it's grown into a public Discord since that PM group was formed back in January of 2016. Along the way, I grew more elitist and cynical for the VN community and this was mainly triggered by Noble Works, the worst VN to ever be read by human eyes. Then I left for like 2 years from this site as it was becoming quite dead, at least to me. I came back and started posting again in January of this year and hopefully, I stick around to shitpost/give my opinions to others for a while longer. Now time to be an annoyance and mention random people I like (in a hetero way). @Dergonu - You may be a nazi mod now, but I still remember when you were a spammer just like me. Short answer: Uhh, nothing? Long answer: I actually fought in the Ancient Blonde Wars to protect the Holy Domain from the Chaos Elemental Lord. It has kind of become a meme already that I like blonde girls but dislike them too. The real truth though is that back when the War was still going on, I was part of Team Kneesocks that was Imperial Blonde Kingdom's elite team of assassins. All my harem party members were cute and beautiful blonde girls. And damn did I love them. However when it was the day of Chaos Elemental Lord's assassination I fucked up bad. Chaos Elemental Lord is no ordinary enemy. He is the biggest and baddest and the most evil creature of all. Our elite team of 9 high-class blondes + me was not enough to beat him. All my 9 blonde allies died in that fight and I was on the verge of dying too very soon. Did you know that blondes are even supposed to have very high power against chaos enemies by the way? Well, however even with all my team members dead, the Chaos Lord did a small deadly mistake. He touched the 絶対領域 with his ugly slimy tentacles by accident allowing me to chant the strongest of all spells. 誰も侵せない、誰も触れられない 誇り高きテリトリー 穢れなき素肌は、無敵の刃 隙間から煌めく 選ばせたりしないわ、私が選ぶの 瞬間も、未来も！ Sucking out all the mana from my dead nakamas' bodies and from the surrounding environment I started rewinding the time back to the beginning of the our fight. While my friends started to wake up from death, I casted 一刀修羅 putting all my left mana into 1 strike hitting the Chaos Lord right in the kokoro (heart). It didn't end well though. I ended up absorbing his power with my Legendary Demon Slayer sword to stop him from absolutely destroying him again and killed him on the spot. However I could not be around my blonde cuties anymore. Chaos Lord's power inside myself it makes it very hard for me to be near blondes. But everything to protect my waifus right? As a side effect I started to find purple (furi: chaos) haired girls attractive too. You can find these purple girls on Fuwo too by the way. Both and are actually credited to me and it took me a long time, like more than 1 year to actually get added but I fought hard for that. Just like I did in the Ancient Blonde Wars. Heh, that's a randomly accurate pun for a review that somehow never wanted to turn out readable and went through an unreasonable number of edits, which, as it always is with over-edited things, only partially helped with anything. ;p For the games themselves, they are really nice when you need something chill and fluffy. And the author seems to be improving with every game, so I'm actually quite interested in how the newest part turns out. Oh, and I managed to butcher Yvin's name in the weirdest possible way... Really, this post just didn't like me. Well, still thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed it! At least with next week's review, I'm very satisfied with how it turned out and it will be something quite unusual. :3

I that's 100% true, why do they even hire translators in the first place? They can always go SakuraGame route and simply sell edited machine translations, you know. It's always much cheaper and quicker to get machine-tl's into somewhat readable state than actually hire real people, you know. I mean, I'm not finding excuses for Sekai. They go a bit too far in their incompetence nowadays. But, feel free to disagree with me, I don't think it's anything more than incompetence.

Well, guess I sabotaged my own blog, rip. So why not talk about an obscure upcoming game? Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you today Nie no Machi (no VNDB page yet, now I went full obscure hm? But here's the game's main website)! Dying was never so festive. Wait, WHAT??? (I'll explain in a minute) Okay, I'm saying it's obscure, so how the hell I found out about it? In fact, this debut game from Zombilica was featured in the last edition of Cool-B, a japanese magazine about BL and girl games. If you played any japanese BL game, you probably already stumble in some special artwork of it made for this one magazine. And what exactly is it about? It follows the story of Hisora, that after following a young man dressed in mourning clothes he fell into another world. Oho, I'm not really a fan of isekais, but with a harem of pretty boys I can change my mind... Too bas this another world is pretty much a town occupied by only by spirits of the dead. The safe place is an inn occupied by... people that fell into a coma in the world of the living and end up trapped there. So our boys must found a way to escape this spirit world. And something tells me that them being half dead won't stop the author to kill some of them noooooooooooo. Our heroes in adorable chibi form: Naruomi, Hisora (MC), Asuku, Mio and Koko The character's designs are simple, but charming. Personally, I loved Hisora's hair, that in some CGs looks kinda purplish. And I'll bet that the best boy will be.......... Ouya! Okay, joking or not aside, between our available romanceable options... I'll think I'll bet on Mio (third one). I mean, look at the others! Poor Asuku (the first one) looks dead inside, the second one's name is Koko da hell dude, and the fourth one Naruomi seems good too, but he'll probably won't be as adorable as the smirky bastard besides him, RIGHT? How can someone even doubt such a pure and gentle smile? /s I like bitchy love interests in VNs, I may have problems. But, if we looks again into the first image I put here... seems like we have a secret love interest there. Hmmmm... The voice actors were revealed already, but no samples available. The scenario is written by Toritani Shizu (鳥谷しず), and the art is handled by Rinno Miki (厘のミキ). The game is slated to be released in 2018. Meanwhile, let me get addicted to the song of the PV (careful, there's 2 NSFW CGs there. They're censored, the camera quickly pans to a more safe spot of the CG and they last for about a second each, around 1:04~1:05, but still, don't get fired for nothing! The song is pretty cool nevertheless)!!! I'm planning to get the game whenever it's available so I'll be back with impressions! Eventually! (if I can hook it to use a parser, that is)

More or less this... by that choice of words, he essentially stated that, whether conscious or subconscious, that was his prejudice not only against the games but against the lifestyle. If he'd simply said 'I can't get into yuri or yaoi' or something similar, it would have served the same purpose without causing so much trouble. To be straight about it, I can't get into yaoi... but I don't mind people next door living the lifestyle. By that choice of words, he essentially indirectly condemned any member of the community who does pursue an LGBT lifestyle. Even if he was just referring to the VNs, he went beyond stating a preference by that choice of words... he was indirectly attacking those who do like them. While I frequently complain about charage/moege, I do manage to enjoy many of them and I don't condemn people for playing them... and I don't condemn people for enjoying LGBT-influenced games.

You say "some spelling mistakes and bad grammar", I say "bad writing". If the problem really were just what you're saying, things would be different. With that said, many people actually seem to mention the typo count and not much else, so I suppose you have a point. I still don't think fan translations should not be criticized.
