Sisterly Bliss ~Don't Let Mom Find Out~
sakata-sann and one other reacted to Mr Poltroon for a topic
WORK IN PROGRESS Sisterly Bliss ~Don't Let Mom Find Out~ Available on Mangagamer (NSFW) Summary Ichika and Futaba are so close it even surprises their friends and family at times. Ichika, the diligent, stubborn older twin, and Futaba, the childish, sociable younger twin, are an inseparable pair. But there's more to their love for each other than first meets the eye. Growing up, the two did everything together. No matter where they went, the twins were never apart. And even now that they've grown up, their personalities diverging and leading them to different hobbies, they're still as close as can be. For Ichika, the responsible big sister, looking out for childish, spoiled Futaba has become an everyday occurance, both at home and at school. But one day, worried that the twins are growing too close, their mother chastises them, explaining that there's a difference between being supportive of each other and being codependent. Regardless of how close they are, she says, they can't stay together forever. With that admonition, the twins' relationship begins to change. Lurking beneath Ichika's wish to see Futaba happy is a different feeling, one that torments her. A desire that cannot be fulfilled. And as their relationship changes, Futaba grows restless, seeing her wish to always be by Ichika's side drifting further and further away. What awaits these twins, who harbor feelings stronger than mere sisterly love? What form will their relationship take, and what conclusion will their story reach? Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order This game follows a system where each choice either gives points to Ichika, or it gives points to Futaba. There are two good endings and two bad endings. The ending you get is decided by the difference between the number of points each girl has. The order in which the choices are made is irrelevant. All that matters are the number of points accumulated. Therefore, there are many combinations of choices that will lead you to the desired route. Skip to the bottom of the Walkthrough section to see which choices give which points and decide for yourself, or follow your desired route's guide if you just want to end up on the correct route and don't care about choosing. This system is represented in-game via a two sided bar chart which you can visualise at any time by right clicking and selecting 'Status' in the menu that appears. Walkthrough The good/bad ends follow the exact same choices except the last two. Choose the other choice for the ones in bold to change from the good to the bad ending or the other way around. I read Sono hanabira ni kuchizuke wo, the first game, which is both my first yuri eroge ever and my first nukige (that I played to completion, at least) The only other nukige I tried was Nekopara and couldn't get past the first half (is Nekopara a nukige? I mean, it must be right? I can't fathom why else people would play it). Welp, since Sonohana is very short this time I managed to finish it in not much more than 2 hours. I went in with zero expectations aside from some cute yuri scenes, but I'm not even the biggest yuri fan, so not even that factor could've made it more appealing for me. Verdict? Wow, it's actually not terrible! Of course I wouldn't expect full-fledged characterization in a 2 hour long game, 1 hour being exclusively dedicated to h-scenes, but the relationship between Yuna and Nanami had some interesting aspects. Honestly, the fact that I went back and forth between feeling conflicted by the nature of their relationship (you know, emotional blackmail) and seconds later I understood that as some sort of game they both enjoyed is a pretty amazing feat for this kind of game. I can definitely see why it's considered top quality within the yuri eroge world. Not the kind of thing I'm used to reading, but now and then it's good to try new stuff1 point -
Regarding Horror Visual Novels
Funyarinpa reacted to ChaosRaven for a topic
There isn't just a lack of horror VN's, there is a lack of story VN's in general. Most VN developers seem to stick to an annual release cycle nowadays, because a longer development time is usually too expensive and risky. And creating a 'good' story VN with decent length in just one year is almost impossible to do, especially since you also need a skilled writer for that. But a typical slice of life VN with little to no plot, but backed up by some decent H-scenes can be easily produced in one year and you don't necessarily need a particular talented writer for it - just a good artist. And story VN's often don't sell that well, which is another problem. Just look at Innocent Grey's list of releases on VNDB. KnS1 and especially KnS2 did take several years to make, but with their yuri series Flowers, they changed to a fixed annual release cycle as well, while KnS3 is in development for probably more than five years now. It's not hard to guess that they use Flowers to finance KnS3. And Innocent Grey is already one of the more popular story VN producers. Others like Propeller already did bite the dust. There's probably a better chance for shorter story/horror VN's like Saya no Uta nowadays, but that doesn't change the fact that some cheaply produced moeges still sell even better.1 point -

Good day to all. I would like to introduce my work-in-progress, "Heartbeat". It's about a young man who decides to commit suicide. Or maybe more about his growing up, or maybe a bit about a world around him. Something-something like that, "non action-oriented adventure". The translation into English started recently, right now a bit more than introduction scene is available. Much more can be read in Russian. So, while slowly pushing update after update, I'm seeking for interested audience. Download links and additional information are in development blog http://heartbeat-game.blogspot.com/1 point

Personally I will be wary of Visual Novel with volumes release. I am afraid that someday the writer or the company decide to abandoned the second and next part like Magical Eyes Red is for Anguish, Fault Milestone, etc. I know it's not fair to say that they abandoned it. But if they don't release it after a long time without reasonable information, I consider that the next part have been abandoned rather than have my hopes up and be disappointed.1 point -
My bad, my bad - humble apologies. So - did you get the rest of the demosaic and whatnot all working properly anyway? I thought it was pretty cool of HopelessHiro to dig until he got those working - it'd be a shame if slight variances in config or something broke them. I _bet_ it wouldn't be that difficult to port the band-aid removal... hmmmmmmm.. I haven't seen the band-aid'd version - I was assuming that it's just like the Bathhouse scenes, with towels removed. It's a handful of scenes, but only a few of them, iirc, would even show the "band-aid area". Let me know - I've been looking at the work that these patches entailed (but, clearly I don't have that "other" version, lol..). If it's worth it - I'll go over what HH did for the Steam patch, see what a band-aid removal would entail. This VN - I've been working on a backlog for like, a year - but this Maitetsu - once I got used to it (the Freemote animations) it is probably the best looking VN I've ever seen. Really beautiful game - and the MC is actually decent, ahem, except when he's not, heh.1 point

Well, I get to cross an item off my VN bucket list today - I finished off The Fruit of Grisaia. Just the Yumiko route, mind, but still, I'm really happy about it as it's one VN I've been wanting to read since having finished Katawa Shoujo, which means, in essence, about as long as I've been reading VNs. Unfortunately, though, I didn't really like it and I'm quite underwhelmed thus far (probably due to having overly high expectations). Part of that is probably because I wasn't actually all that interested in Yumiko (I stumbled onto her route by accident) and the other part is most likely because I found her route to be, well, underwhelming. The Fruit of Grisaia Yumiko route spoilers Things aren't all bad though - I really liked the SD art, and the common route sections were great too. I also like the music, and the extras portion of the VN is the best I've come across yet, with several options I've not seen before, like being able to choose specific scenes to replay. I really like the amount of options they packed in there. I'm still hoping (and expecting) that the other routes will be better, and I'm going in terms of least interested to most interested, so will read the Makina route next, then Sachi, then Amane or Michiru (still undecided) before finishing with whichever route from the previous two I haven't read yet. It is entirely possible, though, that I might make a pit stop and read eden* before continuing onwards.1 point -
Denpasoft opened pre order for physical release of Hard Work
Ichigo reacted to bakauchuujin for a topic
https://denpasoft.com/collections/newest-releases/products/preorder-hard-work-physical-release I find it interesting that Denpasoft recently started focusing a lot on physical copies and I like that they are doing it, despite not really liking SP/Denpasoft that much. Regarding the VN itself I am not really interested so I don't plan on picking it up. Also while I like that they are going for physical edition I wonder how smart it is especially with the titles they have so far. Mangagamer only does physicals for VNs that have sold a lot, Nekonyan have only confirmed physicals for their most popular titles while the others are to be determined while jast have Jlist to rely on. As for the titles that Denpasoft have recently they have all been short VNs which makes it less appealing to buy due to extra cost of the physicals due to having to be produced and shipping which compared to the price of a longer more expensive VN is not too bad but can be quite costly compared to the price of shorter VNs. The VNs they have picked aside from Nekopara are also new VNs without any hype behind them, I don't really know how the physicals for these won't be comerical fails. What I think their focus should be on is their larger titles like their upcoming The Ditzy Demons Are in Love With Me (which I assume is going to get a physical release), as well as maybe some of their longer releases like Wagamama High Spec and Saku Saku: Love Blooms with the Cherry Blossoms.1 point -

LanThief(HUN) reacted to Mr Poltroon for a topic
I made a points guide just for the heck of it, but I wonder if there's a better way to format it...? Because of the way it is right now there's no easy way to explain how many points you need to enter a given route. I might switch to a positive/negative points system where Futaba is positive and Ichika is negative and then work off that. Seems to work better with the in-game bar chart too. I've only played one route, so I still need to test the stuff for Futaba's route, and I have no idea if choosing certain choices changes others still, so I might have to redo everything.1 point -
