  1. Heya, I used to be very active here many years ago, looking to catch up with the many wonderful people I met here but sadly lost contact with along the way. A bit about me: I used to be a casual reader, did a few reviews for the website here back in the day. My fav VNs are Rewrite, Song of Saya and G-Senjou no Maou. These days I spend a lot of my time working (argh), playing magic the gathering (irl? woah!), playing table tennis and a bit of video gaming here and there when I have the time. Glad to be back!

  3. How to Run a Pulltop Game 101 Featuring: Hasugase Mina & Bell from Cocoro@Function! Also Featuring: Mephisto References http://i.imgur.com/zOMBtJy.jpg Well hello there Mina-san. I'm glad to see you've come to the experts to get some good advice when it comes to running a visual novel from Pulltop. Sadly, Mephisto is unable to join us this evening, but I'll definitely tell him you said hello! http://i.imgur.com/HjFOWJx.jpg Don't sweat it Mina! So how can I help you fine ladies this evening? I heard you need help running some of your company's games, is that true? http://i.imgur.com/XvCSs1G.jpg You'd be surprised how many people ask the same question Mina, so don't worry about it too much. You see, playing a moe porn game from Pulltop is a little unique. Not only do you need to change your unicode settings to Japanese, but you also need to change your format entirely! To give you an idea, here are some screenshots: Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Step 4: Easy as pie! If you follow those steps and make sure your game is set to a Japanese format, your problems should cease to exist. http://i.imgur.com/9ndvCAm.jpg That's kind of gross guys! But anyways, I hope this helps, and see you in the next tutorial!

  4. Maho☆Tama Series ~Tekoki Hen~ DLSITE *Summary* The second installment to the Maho Tama Series made by Erogos. A rumor is going around the community that "tekoki" is an amazing method to relax. Mei can vouch for this and pushes Miki to "tekoki" Youji. What will happen by the end of this "tekoki" whirlwind? Will Miki get a "hand" for her supplementary exams? Or will she be busy giving that "job" to Youji? *Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order* There are two heroines, four routes, and six choices in this game. These six choices create an abundance of combinations that can lead to each route, however one of the routes can take hours to find without a guide. I advise you just have fun for the first playthrough and see which route you're able to achieve. The purpose of this guide is to 100% the game (all scenes and images) within the fewest amount of playthroughs (four). Choices are numbered either 1 or 2, the top choice is always 1 and the bottom choice is always 2. -Suggested Route Order Katase Miki 片瀬 美希 Mei メイ Harem Route Mei True Route *Other*

  5. My writing professor in college started his course by saying that all stories are driven by desire. Desire motivates characters to go out and do something, and conflict happens when a character doesn’t get what they want. Then he asked us “What does everybody want?” I think some people said money, some people said fame. He shook his head. “Love,” he said, emphasizing the word. “Everybody wants love.” It didn’t have to be romantic love, he explained. 'Love' could be a mother accepting her son for who he is, or someone helping their friend recover from addiction. Love isn’t about getting comfortable enough around someone to have sex with them—that’s just an extension of what love is: acceptance, affirmation, and connection. Sure, everyone wants love. But that’s not the whole story. There’s a dark side to love, just as there’s a dark side to everyone, and that’s what I wanted to explore in Black Heaven: A Necromantic Dating Sim. THE STORY In Black Heaven, you play as a former scholar of the Itzon Academy, where students studied the art of immortality. There, you met Ru, your shy but brilliant mentor, Izagi, a stoic and idealistic martial arts prodigy, and Lyse, a sharp-tongued and flirtatious debutante. That school (and all your classmates) perished when you and your mentor accidentally unleashed a cancerous plague that wiped out most of the continent, leaving you one of the sole survivors. Most of the ‘dating’ part of the ‘dating sim’ takes place in memories, where you return to your happiest moments with Ru, Izagi, and Lyse. Your lonely exile from Itzon is interrupted when you meet No-Eyes, a mysterious necromancer who offers you a deal: bring him the souls of your former classmates at Itzon, and he’ll rip your soul free from the flow of time and allow you to relive the happiest moments of your life on a loop, forever. When you return to Itzon, however, you come face-to-face with the ghosts of your friends, who have become monstrous, shattered versions of the people you used to know, still obsessed with their past lives. The ghosts are what I really want to talk about. HUNGRY GHOSTS One of the big ideas that informed the game’s narrative is a Buddhist concept called the “hungry ghost,” a spirit that’s driven by “intense emotional needs in an animalistic way.” I imagined a hungry ghost as being less of a person and more of a bundle of desires, kind of like an amalgamation of wants in the shape of a human being. But if my writing professor was right, then that’s all human beings are. Everything we do, everything we are, is based on a want, a desire, a feeling of incompleteness that drives us to go out and fill the hole within ourselves. I like to think I have a grasp on what kinds of characters and stories resonate with people, and what I’ve discovered so far is that people like complex characters, which are characters that are built on contradictions. Here’s an excerpt from a piece I wrote a while ago: “At the heart of every interesting, complex character is a contradiction (or several of them). It’s the imbalance that creates desires, weaknesses, and conflict. It also creates something to unearth or discover over the course of a story.” It’s a pretty radical idea if you think about it, because it implies that what resonates with most readers is having some deep-seated flaw that ensures that they’ll never be whole, happy, or satisfied until they reconcile with it. I think it says something about the human condition—that maybe each of us, consciously or not, has built our sense of self, our identity, on a foundation riddled with cracks. SELFISH LOVE So what do people do with this feeling of emptiness, of desire, of wanting more? How do they become whole and finally reconcile with all the parts of themselves that are flawed? The answer, many times, is to seek out someone else’s love. As long as someone else loves that person, then they receive the ultimate affirmation that they’re worth something, that they’re good, and that they don’t have to face the difficult parts of living alone (see the infamous scene from Bojack Horseman for reference). But it’s not enough. Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of the most brutal, thorny, and complex explorations of love, and one of the reasons I like it so much is because its thesis, arguably, is that being loved by someone doesn’t redeem you. Instead, it shows that love, like anything else, can be warped and twisted into something destructive if you go into it with the wrong pretenses. It's not a coincidence that Evangelion talks a lot about the self and about love, because love is portrayed as a selfish desire: Asuka wants someone to love her to confirm that she matters, Misato wants love so she can lose herself in someone else, and Shinji wants someone to love so he can feel like he’s worth something, anything. You see the thread here? What’s called “love” is often all tied up with the self: our own thoughts, fears, insecurities, and perceptions of the world. If you want to see this in action in a well-known visual novel, take Katawa Shoujo, a story about high schoolers attending a school for students with medical disabilities. A CASE STUDY IN TWISTED LOVE There’s a scene in Katawa Shoujo where Hanako, a burn victim with extensive scars over half of her body, sheds her clothes, reveals her scars, and has sex with the protagonist, Hisao. It’s supposed to be the moment when the two truly connect, but despite the trappings of intimacy, neither of them truly understands the other: Hanako is using the intimacy to ensure that Hisao doesn’t leave her, and Hisao sees it as the end product of his conscious, long-term project to help Hanako overcome her insecurities. Most importantly of all, the relationship is warped by both character’s internal issues: Hisao seems to view Hanako partly as a broken person he wants to “fix” (mirroring his inability to fix his own lingering fears about his heart), and Hanako is caught between fearing Hisao will leave her like others who “cared” for her and resenting how helpless and fragile he treats her. With this in mind, the intimate act of sex, which is supposed to be an act of love, isn’t about love at all—it’s a twisted manifestation of the internal issues of both characters, who are so blinded by their own fears and desires that they’re not even having the same experience. In fact, some of the most extreme commentators on sex and desire claim that it’s always selfish: “The act of sex for humans is so much caught up in our fantasies (our idealized images of both ourselves and our sexual partners) that it is ultimately narcissistic.” ROMANCE IN BLACK HEAVEN In Black Heaven, one of the key ideas that went into writing the romance arcs was fleshing out each character’s “internal picture”—essentially a map of their personality traits, their flaws, and what their idea of ‘love’ looked like. For the character Ru, relating to people is a messy, unpredictable chemical reaction, where there are too many variables to figure out and too many chances for misunderstanding and pain. Ru is analytical and logical because it helps her feel in control of her life, but the parts of her that are hard to quantify (like taking care of herself or her own emotions) get neglected. Ru’s internal contradiction is that, despite her attempts to ignore or minimize the inconvenient parts of herself and her life, she still feels their effects: she’s lonely, she’s insecure about other’s perceptions of her, and she feels like she’s constantly running from the parts of her that are frightening or confusing. Over the course of the story, the protagonist of Black Heaven can grow closer to Ru, which may turn into a romantic relationship. For Ru, the romance is a terrifying, uncertain, guilty affair (she’s supposed to be a teacher, after all), but the desire for someone else to assuage her fears about being too broken or pathetic to love is great enough to overcome those misgivings. In stories like this, the villain isn’t a serial killer or a necromancer—it’s a person who wears ‘I love you’ like a mask. That kind of villain is well aware of their partner’s reasons for seeking out love, and uses them for their own ends. That kind of ‘love’ is part of what I wanted to explore in Black Heaven: A Necromantic Dating Sim. It’s a destructive kind of love, but more importantly, it sheds some light on the parts of us that are too painful and too vital to ignore. You can play the extended demo of Black Heaven here! 6. Zaka actually has made a very steep career jump. From the swedish viking with too much powerlevel that called others autistic he turned into a capable pseudo-admin fulfilling all our tasks splendidly and in no-lazeball-mode. When we started communicating this, old people were like "omg, if you mod Zaka this will be a clownshow here!" and knowing him for like 4-5 years and him growing into one of my best friends I can definitely vouch for him being a capable admin. He's not only around, he is around better than ever - he still calls people autistic tho (´;ω;`)

  7. Welcome back! I just come back few days ago myself also looking to see if I can reconnect with old userbase here too. Funny Rewrite, Song of Saya and G-Senjou no Maou ware all in my top favorites at some point too, thrue before I "Disconnected" from VNs and anime scene I was mostly reading only Yuri VNs and my favorites ended up being The Shadows of Pygmalion, Kindred Spirits on the Roof and Fatal Twelve. Right now I am trying to get back into VNs and anime and all, and I think I would probably go for psychological titles or JRPG/VN hybrids when I do start reading VNs again. @Zakamutt Oh I completely forgot to mention you in my own comeback topic, nice to see you are still around.

  9. I see someone pretty much obsessed with August VN so much he said some inappropriate words. I can only say that if the lack of updates of it (Never mind that Senmomo so far has regular updates in regard of editing) drive someone into being rude here, then perhaps it would be better for that person to learn Japanese and forgot about the English project of it. I know that I shouldn't say this, but sometimes extreme situation need extreme solution.

  10. Just announced the new York comic con on their Twitter account that BLEACH Thousand Year Bloodwar will get a simulcast in the USA through VIZ Media. VIZ Media has not yet confirmed this, but the confirmation will probably come at the panel at the NY Comic Con. Furthermore, the 1st episode will be shown at the NY Comic Con before the simulcast starts official. https://twitter.com/NY_Comic_Con/status/1565783182800191488 About BLEACH I think every anime fan will know it but still here is a description about Bleach. Bleach (stylized as BLEACH) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. It follows the adventures of the hotheaded teenager Ichigo Kurosaki, who inherits his parents' destiny after he obtains the powers of a Soul Reaper—a death personification similar to the Grim Reaper—from another Soul Reaper, Rukia Kuchiki. His new-found powers force him to take on the duties of defending humans from evil spirits and guiding departed souls to the afterlife, and set him on journeys to various ghostly realms of existence. The Anime Adaption of the BLEACH Manga end with a massive Cliffhanger in the Fullbring Arc. The new Adaption will adept the last and final Arc from the Manga. The Thousand Year Bloodwar Arc. Story Ichigo Kurosaki is a teenager from Karakura Town who can see ghosts, a talent which lets him meet supernatural trespasser Rukia Kuchiki, who enters the town in search of a Hollow, a kind of monstrous lost soul who can harm both ghosts and humans. Rukia is one of the Soul Reapers (死神, Shinigami, literally 'Death Gods'), soldiers trusted with ushering the souls of the dead from the World of the Living to the Soul Society (尸魂界 (ソウル・ソサエティ), lit. "Dead Spirit World")—the afterlife realm from which she originates—and with fighting Hollows. When she is severely wounded defending Ichigo from a Hollow she is pursuing, Rukia transfers her powers to Ichigo so that he may fight in her stead while she recovers her strength. Rukia is thereby trapped in an ordinary human body, and must advise Ichigo as he balances the demands of his substitute Soul Reaper duties and attending high school. For aid in hunting the Hollows, the pair ally with a trio of other spiritually empowered allies: Ichigo's high school classmate Orihime Inoue, best friend Yasutora "Chad" Sado and the Quincy—humans who have the ability to control spirit particles—Uryū Ishida. Eventually, Rukia is arrested by her Soul Reaper superiors and sentenced to death for the illegal act of transferring her powers into a human. Ichigo and his friends enlist the help of ex-Soul Reaper scientist Kisuke Urahara, who allows Ichigo to access his own Soul Reaper powers, to enter Soul Society and rescue Rukia. Shortly after the party's arrival in the Soul Society, conflict arises among the captains of the 13 Court Squads when the captain of the fifth company, Sōsuke Aizen, is apparently murdered; the captains believed that the intruders might have been responsible, which causes the Soul Reapers to begin fighting amongst themselves. Thereafter the Captain Commander Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto issues a wide spread search for Ichigo and his friends as being responsible for killing Aizen. However, as Ichigo rescues Rukia, and the Soul Society is on the verge of civil war, Aizen reappears and reveals his intention to obtain the Hōgyoku (崩玉, lit. "Crumbling Orb"). an orb of immense power Kisuke planted in Rukia's human vessel by faking his death and arranging the execution. Aizen is accompanied by his fellow conspirators, Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tōsen, who are the third and ninth company's captains, as they use Hollows to cover their escape into the Hollows' realm, Hueco Mundo (虚圏 (ウェコムンド), lit. "Hollow World"). Afterwards, Ichigo and Rukia reconcile with the Soul Reapers, who view the former as a powerful ally and designate him as an official substitute Soul Reaper.

  11. I thought that it would be movie for Bleach, only to find out that it's actually the anime adaptation of Bleach's final arc which prompt me to remember that out of Big 3 (Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach) only Bleach that has not fully adapted the manga yet. I can only say that at least it's good to see that Bleach fans finally can see the final arc animated, even though the reception of the final arc itself is quite divisive. By the way this remind me of Inuyasha Final Arc, in which it only has 26 episodes to adapt 21 volumes of the manga, so maybe we only have two seasons to adapt the last 19 volumes of Bleach (Volume 55 to 74) here.

    Hello/Hola!

Fuwanovel completely approves of r/vns. If gambs bans you from r/visualnovels (like he did with me) just go there. We're pretty much supportive of another and you can also post cool stuff from the forums here over there. They'll grow slowly but I believe people kind of know what is going on now and go to r/vns anyways. Also, fuwanovel links kinda get gatekept by the moderation staff on r/visualnovels to halt our growth. We don't really need them so let them be in their own bubble. Both communitys offer benefits to the entire VN community and this is all that counts. Making VNs great is not a matter of what platform we use, it is about the contents.

    Hello/Hola!

Ah yeah, Gambs and the other guy who hate mosaics (Who has insulted me in the past just for saying I enjoyed a moege that have mosaics lol). Thank you for the welcome! I've been on r/vn, but I haven't interacted much there because of the drama that happened weeks ago with Gambs banning a user just for being on that subreddit. Still, I don't have problem with being in different VN communities, I am not a fanatic, I like to talk with other people who also likes VN.

    Hello/Hola!

Welcome to Fuwanovel. Seeing that r/visualnovels moderator has some bad decision and not to mention that literal autist who act like a bot keep saying that some VNs suck because it has mosaic along with some equally face-palming worthy statements, perhaps it would be for the best to joining Fuwanovel here. I did remember that I see your post several time on Reddit as well, so perhaps I should check it again later. Oh yeah there's also r/vns if you want another subreddit that was less problematic than r/visualnovels, although you may not quite interested with it which to say I can see why. My rambling about the state of Reddit aside of course you can do what you've been doing in the past, and obviously you can also ask for VN Recommendations here if you feel like to do so. Lastly I hope that you'll have fun in here.

    Life at 1000 discord friends

Dear Diary, It is not surprising that after the 5 years I'm already in this scene (it is probably more, because just 5 years ago the whole VN.Info thing took off and I oddly played some VNs earlier too) I met many people in this scene who came and went. After living for 3-4 years as a total meme, but totally unobstructed by whatever stood in my way to essentially shape VN.Info into what it is now, I had a big public fight with some people that left some psychological damage and required some introspective. I decided to completely switch my personality to someone who is just striving for harmony, does not get triggered at the occasional idiot anymore and is just focused on his goal to be "Making VNs popular in the west" or by extension probably due to my illusions of grandeur "Making VNs popular in the world". In order to achieve this goal, I have had the pleasure to meet a lot of special people from the scene and the VN community who carry somewhat an influence in companies, fan projects or generally the western VN world. I believe that Fuwanovel (the community we are currently in and that is trying to drag its body out of its coffin after it laid idle for effectively 6 years or more) can achieve everything that we desire from the VN community. I wish to create a society where ppl are not gatekept for external reasons, where fanTL and official TL can thrive in parallel and where a healthy blog scene is nurturing. In order to do that I sacrifice my time and effort to connect people who have otherwise never met in the hope they can create something great when working in collaboration with others. Many fan translation projects have failed not necessarily because the staff was incompetent, but because they either lacked the social skills for HR/management or their ego stood in their way of achieving greatness. Fuwanovel houses about 10 years of history and back in the day so many things were posted here where the githubs are still alive and still offer opportunity for the new generation of VN fans to learn how to deal with VN engines and how to start their own translation projects. The FanTL still scene has so much potential. I can see and 95% when I decide to hop fresh into someone's DMs and they get surprised like "who the fuck are you?" it still ends up being a nice talk. Mainly, because we all share the same passions. However, to get to the point of this post's title. Due to this "dancing on every party" that I perform day after day in my mission to lay bridges for people, I ran into an interesting roadblock that I was not aware existed. Discord only allows you to have exactly 1000 friends, an arbitrary limit that obviously now tugs on my heartstrings because it forces me to delete some people from my friendlist. I'm convinced that these people will eventually prove useful in some particular project and then I have to wrack my brain to recall their usernames. I can already see it... Someone from JAST once said that he knows what "type of person" I am. I'm a person that enjoys being the well connected one and would bask in being the go-to guy for the fandom I occupy. Indeed, I enjoy that very much. But as long as it contributes to great projects being realized, no one can say I'm doing this out of malice, can they?

  16. One ~Kagayaku Kisetsu e~ Summary One's story revolves around Kouhei Orihara, the main protagonist, who suspects that at some point his current life will change while living a peaceful daily routine. Due to this, he begins to seclude himself in the Eternal World, a world within his mind. The game's main recurring motif is a focus on the Eternal World, a mystical alternate space which is never clearly explained, and the details of which are unknown. Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order There isn't really a best order in this game, so just pick a girl you like and do her route. After you've gotten one good end you can do Hikami's route. I personally went Nagamori-Misaki-Mio-Akane-Nanase-Shiina-Hikami. Route Guideline Nagamori Mizuka Kawana Misaki Kouzuki Mio Satomura Akane Nanase Rumi Shiina Mayu Hikami Shun Attribution This walkthrough is based on info attained here with some adjustments made by me.

  17. It is kind of ironic since I remember this project was one with the fastest starting speed where the translator claimed to have translated this huge ass game in a couple months time. It's a bit crazy, considering @Barry Bensonalready had like a partially finished translation of this game pre-Akagoei. Idk why he dropped it originally to be honest since he seems to pull through with first Akagoei, OneeYuuwaku and now Biman 2.5 and Ginharu. Kazoo kinda set the expectations to high and we all already knew back around the time it was announced. If we actually trace it back we find the VNDB thread that was already met with much much scrutiny from the start. August stays cursed: They are actually one of the least likely to localize company ever, en par with AkabeiSoft2&3 (exception of smth like GSenjou [with special cuts and crops only]) and Eushully. At least we are getting consistent Eushully fantl projects, lol.
