Hmm, I thought it was fine actually. No idea how well it was originally written, but I don't think the script lost that much power from the translation.

I haven't really read many mangagamer releases,. but Kira Kira and Deardrops were pretty good (and almost typo free, <10 in each game afaik.).

Romance is very meh and mostly only implied. Shone-style plot. Osu distracting from post.

I really wonder whether that was the cause lol (I presume this is appendicitis we talk about btw). -
A 'Help Me' Thread, with relation to Visual Novels
Zakamutt replied to torbin12's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Tbh, I think the best VNs often combine a romance/interpersonal plot with a strong scenario. You can see this in F/SN and Ever17 (but not ever17 true route). That's why even scenario-based games usually have you target specific girls. I enjoy both sides of the "split". but I'm disappointed if there is too little romance at times (Aoishiro damn you). 999 didn't disappoint me though although the romance was pretty low, so I guess what I'm really looking for isn't complete immersion in the main character, but a good story told in first-person with added elements that help immersion and/or multiple scenarios. Minor/SteveMedium-spoiler:Rewrite:Akane -
...And personally I think Kotori is the best route to start with, and also the best character route. I think it's easy how split people's opinions are on the character routes in Rewrite, actually. It's probably because they offer different flavors of story - which some people call inconsistency but I'd like to call variety . Soon I will begin a new playthrough of hoshimemo. I'll actually play through the common route again w/o skipping probably, to get a good analysis of it and pick up certain info I need for the overambitious blogpost I'm making (prepare for massive tvtropes linking btw) . I'll likely go for miss antisocial whatshername.

Kanji memorized: 294 Surprisingly enough, I've managed to keep this alive, though not super-active. How? Basically, I haven't learnt new kanji that often (yesterday I did 25, though, ending because the lesson ended there). However, I never missed a review. The main issue is getting started with stuff, and finding the energy necessary (visualization and imaginatory memory work is intense for me and tires me out). After reading through Heisig's info between lessons, I got to one where he more systematically explained the method. After actually doing it this way, I've been seeing a higher success rate in memorization. Felt a bit annoyed this wasn't explained before. Oh well. Next time I learn I'll be starting the plots section. Will be interesting.

*Protag being oblivious to love without reason despite the heroine being painfully deredere. I can accept SelectiveObliviousness... if done well. Major offender: Shoichi-Kanade in Deardrops. *Girls saying no all the way through sex scenes (well, fully avoiding this is pretty rare...). *Protagonist suddenly becoming stupid for no reason (hi Kotarou in Lucia!). *Lack of saves / save slots. There shouldn't be any limit on saves in a PC release. *(NScripter specific, usually) no BGM fade --I could go on and on about system problems

Played the ep. Nice story developments and I liked the new sprite introduced as well I also realized that I've been assuming the Unhacker is male, but there's no guarantee of that, is there? Interesting. Then again, I am a bit too much of a Yuri fan... About the microfreezes, I think they might be a more serious problem than I first imagined. The timing on the second screen seems inconsistent, sometimes I got a really tough timing on the first cannon, sometimes not, and the stuttering might be the cause of this. The stuttering is pretty noticeable for me as well. Looking at the CPU usage of firefox, it's coming up to 25% which is pretty crazy. I can play 1080p video on youtube's highly inefficient player with only cpu rendering and decoding and have only 17%ish peak usage (I also had a tab with unhack running at that time, seems it doesnt use much when not selected). The stuttering also seemed to get worse the longer I played (had quite a few deaths... qq). About level design, not sure if it was that good of an idea to have two keys on screen 1 but only require 1 to proceed, making you have to backtrack later if a bit inattentive. Screens before boss are largely the same difficulty with or without keyboard as they tend to require patience/timing more than anything else, boss is much easier to dodge spikes using keyboard (was bored with keyboard, more or less just right for mouse).

Auto speed is really uneven, no commentary

Umm, your link steamsignatures is different from steamsignature. The second one is what you guys have been using. Anyway... also I can't find any way to see the raw html/bbcode of a post, really makes editing hard sometimes

^I imagine that will change once the full tl patch is out

There is a place where it's still up and probably will be for a while: http://www.visual-test.fr/hebergement_temporaire.php . I've added this link to my first post.

^It might not be talked about that much, but it's #46 in popularity and #17 in rating on vndb. Well, vndb isn't everything I guess, but it's pretty much the only real statistical site...

Dandy Girl (DL here http://www.visual-test.fr/hebergement_temporaire.php) LEAVEs Uhh, I'm too lazy to really say much more. Also Analogue has a lot of shit/ragevoting on vndb imo, but it still has a decent vote distribution if not bayesian rating, so there is that.

The main (potantial) difference is that you only write it down once per review (or only once, while learning it. Not sure about this anymore...).

Are there any (good) English-voiced VNs?
Zakamutt replied to Pedeadstrian's topic in Recommendations
I believe part of it is that VA you don't quite understand sometimes sounds better for whatever reason. It's not necessarily that the japanese VA is any better than english (though to be honest... it probably is), but that that exotic factor or w/e makes you consider it better. Also en dub homura > jap homura -

^ Just because the english VA you've heard has sucked doesn't mean all VA will suck -
Did some more attempts to get unhack to work on an android tablet. Massive failure, even when I used a bluetooth mouse to click. The problem isn't touch; I think it might just be poor html5 support (apparently this is endemic to mobile browsers?). Tried both chrome and firefox. Used an addon to disable doubletap zoom in firefox too, did not help. Sound doesn't play either :s

Jesus christ that chaos wars VA is bad -
Well, learning 34 kanji tends to take me about 40 mins to an hour - I put a lot of effort into my story memorization and am usually a bit mentally tired after that. Reviews are usually 30-50min as I do one card per 25s while reviewing (and generally have a few fails). In general I would advise splitting up reviewing the old kanji and learning + reviewing the new into different sessions if possible. It's also possible that we're just more mentally suited to it
