  1. I finally did it! I beat Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin without using shields or magic. But it was way more difficult to do than in Dark Souls 1, since 2 likes to throw hordes of enemies at you. Especially fighting against multiple bosses at same time is frustrating. It doesn't make it necessarily harder, just more time consuming, because you have so few chances to do damage. Some the DLC bosses were super annoying, they have lingering hitboxes and delayed attacks which makes dodging hard. It wasn't all bad, the new enemy placement was refreshing, it brings back some the charm of playing a souls game for the first time. And the winter wonderland DLC was pretty fun.
  2. Agroprom is an area which has some of the most memorable events early in the game. Not going to tell any more than that...
  3. It does all of those things. Some scenes are shown again after you understand the situation better, some are the just the same scene again with slightly different wording. And some scenes have same structure, but the meaning and contents are changed. Thematic lines and repetition of words are also used to create an atmosphere. The VN creates a mysterious atmosphere, not quite understanding what's going on. The general tone is also slightly sorrowful. But mostly it's really tranquil, the writing works wonders for that.
  4. Phenomeno is simple psychological horror story. It's enjoyable, but it's nothing special. It does have a pretty creepy atmosphere and good sound design. It's also really short, you can finish it in an evening. Sharnoth is pretty unique. It's really beautiful, in both story and design. The writing style is kind of flowery and it repeats itself a lot, with sometimes slight differences. It works with the style the VN is going for, but it can be annoying.
  5. You will literally drown in ammo if you know what you're doing. I remember running around with 600ish 7,62×39 mm bullets, since everybody drops them later. I can't wait to hear about your upcoming Agroprom experiences.
  6. I have no experience with retro platformers, but I feel like playing some kind of metroidvania could be nice. For Rogue-like I'll second One Way Heroics.
  7. Playing complete mod first is fine, the reason people say you should play vanilla first is because complete makes the game too easy. (it's still hard) But it makes the game look pretty and fixes most of the problems, so it's good place to start.
  8. I have PC, Vita, PSP and almost broken DS. I feel like emulation could be nice, since I've never had a playstation or the like when I was young, I feel like I've missed a lot of good games.
  9. I usually skip the voices, except when they are really good or when I'm too lazy to click and play on auto. Also if there is some really awesome sounding or silly line, I will listen to it a few times.
  10. Sure, group activity makes me strangely motivated to play whatever. I'm definitely in.
  11. I started playing Dark Souls 2: Scholar of First Sin expansion/enhanced version/whatever. I never played the DLC anyway, so it was a good time do another play trough. The new enemy placement really threw me off guard and they also added more enemies, which makes certain areas very bothersome. More so, since I challenged myself to do no-shield run.
  12. Confession: I used to not like lolis, but then I watched Monogatari Series Second season again.
  13. Now at episode 27 in Eureka Seven. I'm liking it more and more. Characters are becoming more fleshed out and the light Eva-style elements are interesting. I'm calling some really weird revelation. And it's so damn sweet all the time, I almost shed a few tears at some points.
  14. No Mazuurek, no sell.
  15. I'm really fond of Valkyria Chronicles 2, since it's the game that made me like JRPGs. I never finished it though, the final missions gave me cancer. It's the kind of game that I liked a lot, but can never bring myself to play it again. I liked the more focused mission structure of the first game, but it was kind of annoying that every stage almost required you to restart once because of some unpredictable event.
  16. I watched today the first 14 episodes of Eureka Seven. I'm not sure what to think about the show yet, but at least I had fun watching it. But man the second opening is amazing, I have soft spot for J-rap.
  17. Anime - Planetes, Honey and Clover or Monogatari Series. I can't really decide. Manga - Uwagaki LN - Gekkou VN - Steins;Gate Band - supercell Music - varies
  18. Confession: I'm scared of driving cars. I fine sitting in car while others drive, but even the thought of driving myself makes me anxious.
  19. Confession: I'm not shocked because there are other Finnish persons here, more like I was kind of expecting it. You just happen meet them everywhere, even in Anime and VNs.
  20. I'm from Finland. And it's not too surprising to see that I'm not the only one.
  21. I saw a trailer for the remake of One Way Heroics and remember that I got the original from Humble Bundle, but never actually played it. It is a really cute little rogue-like RPG, and the forced scrolling is fun little niche. It's now my mindlessly-play-while-listening-to-podcast game.
  22. I will join both seasonal and Movie cycle. Time of Eve is my movie recommendation and Yamada-kun to Nananin no Majo for seasonal.
  23. If you are hesitant, try playing Lost Alpha first. It's basically re-imagination of the first Stalker and it's standalone. It's almost as good as the real Stalker games, so you can try how it feels without worrying about wasting money. I tried playing Shadow of Chernobyl again without any mods, the swaying and mouse acceleration was awful. I didn't remember it was that bad, I can understand why people would feel sick. But it can be fixed by mods and the other Stalker games don't shake that much.
