What in the world are you talking about? The P4G dub is very good. The HDN dub, on the other hand, was so horrifying that I had to switch to Japanese - the only time I've ever done that for any game available with dual audio. In particular, I remember being absolutely horrified when I heard Naoto's Japanese voice in a Person 4 Dancing All Night trailer - it can only be described as unlistenable. Her English voice is vastly superior.

Reading Yume Miru Kusuri for the reading club. One route (Mizuki) down, two to go. To summarize briefly: too many H-scenes

VN reading club - June 2015 (Yume Miru Kusuri)
Fred the Barber replied to Kurisu-Chan's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I didn't go for any particular heroine, just made the decisions that I would personally make. To my surprise, that meant I ended up on Mizuki's route, rather than Aeka's, where I anticipated landing. I've read Mizuki's route all the way through so far, and agree completely with the "too many H-scenes" sentiment. I'm not a big fan of them to begin with, so you should take my commentary with a grain of salt, but this is far and away more than any VN I've read previously, in an absolute sense, and especially relative to the length of the VN. Maybe 30% of the time in Mizuki's route was spent in H-scenes? More? It's way over the top. After the fourth or fifth, I considered just dropping the VN entirely... but I soldier on! Now, spoilerish thoughts on Mizuki's route and how I got there: Anyway, on to Nekoko's route (I only do the "follow my heart" choices the first time, since, well... I don't want to end up doing the same route over and over again). I'm saving Aeka for last, at this point, since I actually feel an emotional connection with that character, unlike the other two heroines... -
Confession: I've been on vacation from work for the past 2.5 weeks, and am going back tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I forgot... everything. I'm sure it'll all come back shortly, maybe even before I make any terrible mistakes.

9/10 - that image is probably the main reason I have any interest in watching Nisekoi. But, it's not 10/10, so I continue to not watch it.

I turned 30 a couple weeks ago. Sigh. So, the apparent age of most VN characters is well outside my "strike zone" (a term I hadn't actually heard used that way until I read Comyu, amusingly enough...) On the meta note, it's actually kind of surprising, given how small the audience for VNs is and the reputation associated with them, but it seems like they're really a pretty rich medium, given that there's a fairly broad range of backgrounds, ages, etc., here who all enjoy them. We probably are each getting a fairly different experience. One other thing I wanted to mention about Comyu: the translation seemed really well-done to me. In general, does Amaterasu Translations do really, really good work? They also did Rewrite, that I've read, and both were undoubtedly the best-executed translations I have read (both in terms of technical execution and raw translation). That includes putting them above any professionally-translated VNs I've read (including at least one by each of Sekai Project, Jast, and MangaGamer). That, plus the quality of the two games I've read which they had translated, makes me really want to just take whatever they translate and read that (Cross Channel, in particular, is waiting in the wings, so that's very tempting...)

I watched the first episode of Stella Women's Academy Blah Blah Blah. Pretty cute, looking forward to more.

Finished Comyu this morning. Quite good, would strongly recommend, especially if you're into chuuni (I'm not particularly, but I still enjoyed it). Just started Yume Miru Kusuri (maybe 30 minutes in). So far, not bad; music is a bit weak and art doesn't scale well for large screens, but for a game from 2005 I can't really expect much in the latter department. The little bit of characters I've seen so far (and essentially no story) are interesting enough. I'm starting to think it's just a small world for eroge voice actors. I immediately recognized one of the YMK heroines as Kagome's voice from Comyu (it helps that I only finished Comyu earlier today...); what I didn't realize was that she also voiced Kurugaya from Little Busters! (it's been a while for that one...). As it turns out, the voice actors for all three YMK heroines were either in Comyu, Little Busters!, or both!

Unfortunately, yes, I know that. But just because it's right doesn't mean I can't be unhappy about it.

False, but my old college roommate is amazing at it. He claimed he could whistle Handel's Messiah in its entirety, and I actually believe him. Next person is easily impressed.

Confession: Whenever someone uses the word "literally" and means "figuratively", I die a little. *cough*Zeno*cough*

Maybe it's just a result of my being older, but the H-scenes with the younger/immature members of the cast just make me uncomfortable. The scenes with Haru, in this case, I did not mind. It's certainly just a matter of personal preference, but given that VNs tend to feature rather young people (relative to my age), it's just easier to avoid the H altogether.

Yume Miru Kusuri. Right now, I could really go for...

True, I guess? I hire someone who cleans my apartment every two weeks. Next person would be plotting something nefarious if they weren't so lazy.

I just completed Comyu, so though this topic may have been dead for a week, I shall revive it anyway! Thoughts on Heroine 5 route: And overall thoughts on the game, no spoilers: Music Solid, and they did a good job of rationing some of their better stuff for the late game, but I think they just needed more. It was getting pretty repetitive by the end, and there were a few pieces (especially "A Gentle Kingdom") that I was downright sick of by the time I was done. Art Fine, but didn't seem like anything special. I'm not big on giant robots, so all of that stuff did nothing for me. Character sprite art was quite good, and I quite enjoyed some of the expressions. CGs were very good as well, and I especially enjoyed the last few CGs of the game. Story Ok, but with the way the final route kind of covered everything, it felt a bit like they wrote one single story, and then picked little pieces of it to turn into 5 routes. I like having a "true" ending well enough, but it seemed like it lessened the experience a bit because so much of the ground had been covered already. I'm more a fan of the way Rewrite did its last two routes and its "true" ending, by pretty much completely separating them from the earlier parts of the game, rather than this approach. One thing I learned from reading Comyu: as... stimulating... as they sometimes are, I really do prefer my VNs without H-scenes.

J-List sells Rewrite: http://www.jlist.com/product/PCG6916. Having bought it from them, I can confirm buying it from them will get you a legit, shrinkwrapped copy of Rewrite. J-List tends to be very costly, though. Note that the price on JList's site doesn't include shipping, which is going to make that price even higher... I find Amazon has excellent customer service, even when they're just a storefront for a third party, so if you can get it there, I'd get it there, especially if it's literally half the price of the alternative. Edit: Missed that you're in Mexico. I have no idea whether J-List ships there, though I expect they would.

VN reading club - June 2015 (Yume Miru Kusuri)
Fred the Barber replied to Kurisu-Chan's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Wrapping up Comyu today (and probably tomorrow), but I installed Yume Miru Kusuri. For whatever reason (who am I kidding, it's because my eyes caught the words "Peach Princess") I decided to read the the disclaimer in the installer; it is intimidating -

I always really liked that OP as well. For the series... well, it was at least okay, and it was nice to get another chance at feeling that amazing vibe that Last Exile gives off. My perception of Fam is somewhat worsened because I watched it on Funimation's streaming service back before they got their act together, and the stream was constantly dropping or going to poor quality, so I really should give it another watch when I find the time.

The OST was both sufficient and necessary for me to order it.
