One (slightly used) dakimakura: Flutterz Kenshin There, done. Also, geography is terrible. I'm glad that wasn't a mandatory subject here after middle school (in fact, I don't think it was offered at all in high school...).

VN translators on Twitter counting down

It's because everybody else keeps talking about how good it is. Welcome to the echo chamber. -
VN translators on Twitter counting down

I'm totally betting on Eustia as well. Dies Irae is right out from previous comments (unless Conjueror was repeatedly trolling, I guess), and... No! Stop! I didn't want to speculate! -
Sakura Dungeon release imminent
Fred the Barber replied to Darklord Rooke's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I have little doubt that it's terrible, but with that character art, I can see how people get taken in... Edit: Just noticed per Twitter that it's already available over at Nutaku. Find a link yourself if you want to get it; I ain't helping. Edit2: The screenshots available on Nutaku proudly display a split infinitive and several other split things. Pretty much as expected. -
That's it, I'm writing you out of my will.

Taisho x Alice Localisation shenanigans
Fred the Barber replied to Darklord Rooke's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Pretty sketchy stuff. That said, the internet does have a tendency to turn bungled corporate communications into conspiracy theories. I wouldn't be surprised if this all turned out to be totally legit, but just horribly bungled by one or two individuals who lack experience fronting a publicity campaign. It's certainly not always the case, but people are much more likely to simply make a mistake (and often a big one) than they are to be outright malicious. Here's to hoping this all turns out for the best and we find ourselves with a new contender in the localization game. Also, @Rooke, I'm very curious what you're watching that brought this to your attention, since Fuwa is so quiet when it comes to anything otome - I'd be delighted to find some Twitter accounts to follow to keep abreast of the news in that sphere. -
I'm pretty certain I'd bleed to death. You'd better take responsibility if I die, baka.

Confession: I got a bad sunburn Saturday (due to idiocy; I straight-up forgot to bring a hat when I went hiking), and today it itches like crazy. Make it stoooooop.

Yeah... you and the Alfheim arc are going to be best buddies, for sure

What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
Fred the Barber replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
I desperately need to get to the Trails series at some point. Like so many games, I've already bought and downloaded the first one. I really don't know how I got so little of this all done during my three months between jobs, and I really don't know how I'm going to get it all done now that I'm back to working full time. Probable solution: stop Fuwa-ing. But screw that. -
The art is gorgeous, the story sounds like a prototypical moege, the English website is really quite nice, and I rather like what Frontwing is doing lately. Done.

I can't blame you. I'm sure I'd feel the same way. It's really that bad. Maybe take ittaku's suggestion. But, please, if you do watch it and hate it, make sure back me up next time I'm trying to convince someone. I'm going to keep trying to convince people regardless, but as I'm on perhaps my fourth attempt to persuade people on this point, I'm really starting to empathize with Cassandra. And Cassandra went batshit crazy.

True! Even though I don't want to speculate about what it will be specifically, I'm pretty optimistic that whatever it is, it'll be good. Next person doesn't care for fish.

True. Brief list (probably missed a few): the US, Canada, Mexico, the UK, Italy, Spain, Japan, Greece, Turkey, Germany Next person is tired.

I give this advice to everyone, and nobody follows it, and everybody regrets it (I certainly wish I'd received and followed it), so here's one more attempt to save a person the annoyance: don't watch season 1 part 2 (the Alfheim Online arc). Just stop when the Aincrad arc ends. If you really want to, maybe skip straight on to season 2. I just stopped watching entirely after season 1 because part 2 of season 1 was so bad, but I hear season 2 is passable. The Alfheim arc takes literally all of the good things from the first season and ruins them completely, and the one good thing it introduces (Suguha) is just not worth it, both because they're constantly throwing all the screwed up stuff in your face, and because her story is doomed from the beginning in so many ways.

Fred the Barber replied to Valmore's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Looking forward to playing it whenever my backlog allows... thanks for the review! -

I saw Conjueror's "5" a couple days ago and actually responded to Gare's "3" this morning; didn't know about the others. I'm assuming it's the much-hyped "secret project". Speculation seems pointless right now, though; I'll just wait patiently for Friday. -
There was already a halfway decent discussion of this: The conclusion: arranged marriage is best marriage

Happy Birthday, Lino! Hope you pop in to say hi and then get trapped here forever by a room full of starfish.

Well, sure, but that's a tautology.

I exhausted all the Sakamoto Desu Ga? episodes available while cooking, so after flipping through available shows, I found myself joining Nosebleed on being late to the KonoSuba party. I decided it was pretty cute very quickly, but got really into it after the second half of episode 3. That episode was simultaneously epic and absurd, which is a good combination for me; I like ridiculous events in fantasy settings. I haven't picked a best girl yet, but it could really go anywhere. Edit: Knowing even a little Japanese really does help when the translation is lacking. I chuckle every time I hear the portmanteau "damegami", but it makes me sad they didn't find a good translation for it.

VN Reading Club - Yumina the Ethereal
Fred the Barber replied to Kurisu-Chan's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm trying to make a little time to play this, but so far I've probably spent more time fussing with settings getting it to run happily on Windows 10 (about 15 minutes) than with the game (about 10 minutes). About all I have to say so far is that the setting is cute, and so is Yumina. Also, protag with a sprite is always nice. Has anybody spent some real time with it and have comments? -
In honor of this momentous occasion, I made a music video about you, but I feel like you may have grown out of it: My question for your AMA: What are you going to be when you grow up?
-
False, unless you count find Vegan Black Metal Chef amusing: Next person plays Overwatch.

I hear concrete slabs are nice and cool, and make surprisingly comfortable pillows once you get used to them.
