Valve threatening to remove VNs with adult content from steam?
sarkasmus replied to phantomJS's topic in Visual Novel Talk
And you can use paypal or paysafecard or something similar if you don't have a credit card, which is currently the only thing preventing me from using the other stores. (I know it's not possible if you sell porn at least for PP that's a problem I don't know about the other methods, but I'd be fine with all ages + uncut patch from another website on GOG) -
Have you tried using another (preferably older) driver? from my experience it's rare to cause problems in games which don't have more complex animations but you never know.

Valve threatening to remove VNs with adult content from steam?

Sounds more like a typical radical group which claims as everything as their victory which fits their propaganda. If it was a movement big enough to cause such a sudden massive change we already would've heard about them before. -

Correct me if I'm wrong but Kindred Spirits doesn't have such a patch, right? It is still trageted by this. Besides, I still think if it were about the patches they would've mentioned it directly like lasst time when they forbid the direct advertisement on steam. As for a change of laws: I doubt that as well. Not just that i didn't here anything about major international changes, it wouldn't just hit anime-style games and VNs. I think there are 2 possibilities, Valve either changed how they interpret their own guidelines and only target niche games because in case of bigger ones the uproar would be too big. Or they started using some kind of algorithm which automatically flags a certain kind of game (by analyzing discussions, reviews and so on), which would also explain why the publishers didn't get any details on what to change. -

I know the textbook definitions, those don't neccessarily equal the ones used by companies for their guidelines though. Meaning the latter can change over time and if it isn't communicated properly, things like this happen. -

That's the problem, but that's just another reason I don't think it's about the patches that's something they would've mentioned directly. I think it's more likely they changed their definition of pornographic content from actual H-Scenes to highly suggestive content and simply expect everyone to share their opinion about it. -

Maybe I misinterpret what's wirtten in the article, but to me it doesn't sound like it's about the patches. It seems more like Steam wants them to censor the already censored games even further. -
There's not much to tell, in a Forum there were screenshots posted of Katawa Shoujo and I decided to try it. What really got me into VNs though (I liked the one VN but didn't know about the Genre) was when I was searching for other VNs and discovered Fuwanovel when it still offered the other content (not sure if it's allowed to mention here), I tried some and noticed that I enjoy the genre.

I have a Vita, but I don't want to format my memory card every time (the japanese account isn't my main one) and I prefer physical games on it. I already own Date Alive on Vita but I'll look into the other two, thanks. I have one, but it's a pain to look something up in there it's faster to use my PC. I don't have a problem with kanji in general, as long as they use the easier and more common ones I don't have to look them up. That's not japanese only, I already played all the translated ones on PS4.
-
I don't see if one is hard to read though.

I currently have a few thousend Yen to waste on my japanese PSN Account and figured I might buy a VN on PS4 which isn't translated. Are there any good ones? (preferably one that isn't hard to read, I don't want to change places between my PC and PS4 every few minutes because I don't know certain Kanji ) Thanks in advance.

Nothing speacial. I was going to school, read books the whole day after getting home and didn't bother much about anything else. 2009 we got an internet-connection for the first time but that's all.

I mainly let it run in the background. I do watch a a few hours per week though, mainly news, Kabarett (not sure what the english word is) and a few other shows on the not-ad-funded channels.

I don't know if it's the same cause, but I had trouble playing it when I hadn't installed it in the default folder (In my case the game didn't force close, it just got stuck when reaching the opening with a black screen, but if you didn't use the default path it's worth a try).

I don't have many hobbies aside from VNs. There would be gaming, reading (a lot) and sometimes watching animes but you also do all that when reading a VN so I'm not sure if that counts. There's also sleeping, eating (yes, those are hobbies to me) and physics but I'm not sure if it counts because I study it at university.

Recent (Japanese) Things You Have Purchased

I was able to see the picture when I first noticed your post, now I only see this: Same Browser as before. I guess the problem might be something that changed when you edited the post? -
Death isn't really something to be worried about in my opinion, it's inevitable anyway and isn't always a bad thing. At least that's the conclusion I came to when I was often thinking about it a few years ago.

Are you sure there's a translation for it? According to vndb there isn't. -
Kono Oozora was heavily altered for the western release though, aside from the H-content and (please correct if I'm wrong, if there's a full rastoration patch that would be great) the restoration patch doesn't fully restore it espacially the translation issues. I have it in my backlog as the japanese PSV-version, but I currently don't have the time or energy to read a whole VN in Japanese (i still need more practice in reading japanese, sorry should have mentioned that I'm looking for translated ones). Played Grisaia already, it's one of my favorite VNs. Now that I think about it, I should have mentioned which I already read, sorry again I was in a hurry when i opened the thread. Canvas 2: Sounds good, but do I need to read the first game to understand everything. I'm always worried I might miss something if I jump into a series without knowing the previous ones. Da Capo: How did I miss there was a second one? I played the first one a while ago if they're similar I'll give it a try. Thanks. Hoshizora no Memoria: Played it already, not one of my favoirte Stories but the great soundtrack compensates for that in my opnion. KiraKira: I don't really mind if the setting isn't in school, my examples were only supposed to show what kind of story i'm looking for in general because I didn't know if there's a specific term for it. The point with the depressing ending worries me a bit though I think I'll keep the VN in mind but play it at some other time. Shuffle: I started it ones but stopped it after a short while, I don't even remember why. To Heart 2: For some reason I always thought that was a SRPG, guess I confused it with another game. But here I have the same question as for the first one mentioned: Do I need to play the first game before for the full experience? Wagahigh: it has an actual story, I stoped playing it after a short while because it the beginning lookid like the start of a H-manga. Hatsukoi: never heard of it before, but the descriptions sounds intersting I'll give it a try. Yoake: I'm not sure if that goes too far into the fantasy dierection, but I'll give it a try later. I played 2 routes of Dracu Riot already, but it goes too far in the direction of the more action-heavy VN, that's not what I'm currently looking for. Noble Works' description sounds interesting though. While I don't need them to enjoy a VN, I don't mind H-Scenes, I don't even think my mood can get bad enough to be opposed to them. Thanks for the help, I think I'll start with Wagahigh (Now i really want to know how they turn that start into an actual Story, And it's the only one I already have).

First of all: Sorry if there already is a thread like this, I seem to suck at using the search function. Since finishing Chaos Child two days ago (where even the best endings were kind of sad) as usual the bad mood is sticking on me, so I'm searching for a good VN with good/happy endings. (the story can have it's sad or depressing moments, it's just a good or happy ending I'm searching for. So it doesn't have to be a pure comedy VN or something like that, though I wouldn't mind that either). While I'm fine with any kind of genre in terms of story, I'd prefer soething similar to Katawa Shoujo or Koichoco in this case, so nothing too fantasy- or action-heavy since I read the latter kind of VN very much lately I would like to read something different for a change. Oh, and it should be obviously story focused so no kind of Nukige or similar stuff please. I don't care if it's a 18+ or all ages VN as long as it's not a version censored specifically for the western market, or in other words I'm fine with both as long as there's an identical original japanese version. The plattforms I'm fine with are: PC, PSP, PSV, PS3 and PS4 (btw I won't be able to look at the thread for the next few hours, just in case you're wondering why I don't respond)
