I won't discuss the censorship issue (again), everyone has to know for themselves to what extend they don't mind it. For me it's enough reason to buy the game only used for a few €, or wait until I learned enough japanese to play the original version. Whatever happens first. Denuvo is a bigger issue though. Many say it wouldn't be bad or not even DRM, but that's just wrong and outdated information (Denuvo changed since it was first used). 1.) Other than the early Denuvo versions used on DAI or LotF, it now requires a 3rd party online veification by their own servers which makes it a full DRM. 2.) PC versions of BNE games tend to need fanpatches to fix issues, which won't be happening for this one because of denuvo (which also means the censored scene will not be restored by the community, and the performance issues on some new systems which are already known won't be fixed that way either). Because different from the earlier Denuvo version which barly affected modding, the currently used one checks more than just the games executable but the triggers are spread all accross the games Data in the RAM. 3.) The preservation and the ablity to play the game in the futrue is not given, if Denuvo shuts down the servers, changes their adresses without the publisher patching it (and they won't care if the game is older) or MS simply starts to see it as an Security issue because it sits rather deep in the system (like they did with safedisc or Securom) and blocks it via an update all Denuvo Games are reduced to useless data. Or the DRM could just become incompatible with newer drivers or Hardware (same thing apllies to all intrusive DRM measures) 4.) Especially annoving for many is the online activation of the game which happens at various times (after OS-Update, afer change in Bios settings, after game crashes, in a set intervall which is different for every game and for some games even everytime you boot your system, meaning every time you start your PC) 5.) It's very deep in the system, some of the files even stay active after the game is uninstalled what they're doing is still unknown (excepting for the Denuvo developers and some hackers of course). And I advice against any program which behaves like a virus on your PC, even if itself doesn't cause harm it's still a potential security issue. If you should buy a PS4? For one game definitely not, it's not worth the money. If there are enough games so it's worth it I would always recommend having a console in addition to the Gaming-PC so you can avoid terrible Ports and intrusive DRM measures.

Concerning the consoles: (I don't know what the 7th generation is exactly) The PS3 and the Vita (if you don't mind handhelds) would be the platforms with the most good JRPGs (there are several VNs too on the Vita). There would be the possiblity to play games from older consoles too on the two of them if they're offered in the PS-Store (it's not possible on the PS4) but since those can be played via emulators on PC too it probably doesn't matter. The PS4 has some too, but not as many as the 2 mentioned above and many of them are avaible on both PS4 and Vita/PS3 without much difference in terms of content or quality. There will be more PS4-JRPGs in the future (Trails of Cold Steel 3 for example) but currently the Vita and the PS3 have way more good games from that genre. The Nintendo handhelds have some good games, even though some of them were hit by ridiculous censorship (If you mind or not is up to you). But if you buy them solely for good JRPGs, I'm not sure if the handhelds are worth the money (they aren't for me at least). Just stay away from the MS Consoles if you want to play JRPGs, exclusives from that genre are almost not existent on them.

The grinding in Agarest was one the worst I expirienced in a RPG so far and I played a lot of them...

Final Fantasy 8, level scaling and the need for levels
sarkasmus replied to InvertMouse's topic in Gaming Talk
Level-scaling actually takes almost everything from an RPG I like about the genre.... Increasing stats/skills by leveling up and being able to defeat enemies you couldn't beat before and if necessary compensting a lack of skill (if the enemy requires a tactic you're not used to or are simply bad at, learned the wrong ingame-skills for and so on) by patience and effort, those are some reasons why I'm playing RPGs that much. (another reason is the focus on the story but that's not what was asked) If I wanted a purely skill-based game I would play another genre..... -
The Guide mentiones an offline alternative to Jisho, I can't reach the site though. Did the URL change or is the site down and in the second case is there another offline alternative? My internet connection is very unstable sometimes.

I only played the PS3 version of Ar Nosurge but if they didn't drastically improved both story and gameplay I wouldn#t recommend the game. The Story is weak, there are worse JRPGs in that point but it's not something that keeps you playing. The gameplay is a turn-based-RPG system. You always fight several waves of enemies. Both battles and grinding work somehow (a bit below average in terms of quality) but it's slow and gets boring very fast. I didn't play odin Sphere so I can't say much about the game.

Calm down, I said the worst one I played. I only played all the PS3 games including ToV, ToP, ToD, ToH R and ToZ.
-
Only Tales of Zestiira so far, which has a PS4 Version. I can't recommend the game though since it's, at least in my opinion, the worst Tales of game I ever played. The upcoming ToB will have a PS4 Version too.

That depneds onhow much you want to do. 6 hour ist about one playthrough without skiping, to see everything you need at least 5 playthroughs if you follow a detailed walkthrough with smart saving& loading. If you want to complete the gallery aou have to earn points by playing a minigame, in the translated game you don#t need as much time as you would in the original (you earn way more points now) but you might still need to play it a long time (how long depend on how good you are at the minigame and on your luck).
-
I can't say much about the first 2 games since I didn#t paly them yet but you should avoid SO5 until it's way cheaper because the reviewers are right, though you forgot to mention the huge amount of backtracking without the option to fast-travel and that the game ist very short (about 20-30 hours depending on how you play) and the skill system which is....not good (you get skills from chests, generic sidequests or merchants for huge amounts of ingame money).

It's not that bad. The Zoll barely ever looks at what exactly you ordered as long as they see that it's the same which is mentioned on the invoice (yes in bavaria). And as far as I'm aware: as long as you're allowed to own it you're allowed to buy/import it. if neccessary you just have to take it out of the package in a way they don't see the possibly problematic parts if they even ask you to take it out sometimes they just see: seems to be the same as it is on the invoice, no need to waste more time on that one (They aren't allowed to open the package, you have to come and open it).

Need a editor/compiler for Tactics_arc_file
sarkasmus replied to Natsume Kyousuke's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
I tried and I failed. I figured out that it's a special kind of compression, which is not supported by any usual archiver. How to handle it is beyond my knowledge though. -

sarkasmus replied to Natsume Kyousuke's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
That's an archiver. winrar and 7zip don't support .arc but FreeArc does, you can both extract and compress it with that programm. the problem is that the files you have aren#t normal .arc files they're either protected against extraction or aren't archives. I can try a few things but it could take a few hours to know if it's possible to get usable data. -

sarkasmus replied to Natsume Kyousuke's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
the FreeArc archiver can compress selected data to .arc files if that's what you mean. I'm abit confused that you're looking for a compiler which is a programm to create an executable from a source code. -
I read in the GOG forums (it's released on GOG too) that the PC-version has more content than the other versions (additional scenes and endings which were removed in the console/handheld versions), I don't know if it's true though since I haven't played the PC version yet. Found another source of information about it: http://xseedgames.tumblr.com/post/142874655105/corpse-party-pc-3ds-victims-memoirs-1 "- PC: Completely different Japanese voice track with different nuances, one notably exclusive Extra Chapter, additional scenes and endings, original indie art, fast-forward feature, swanky text boxes." " PC Number of Extra Chapters: 4. One exclusive to this version of the game (but it’s a doozy!). Main benefits of playing this version: Completely different Japanese voice track with different nuances, to such an extent that much of the game’s dialogue was re-edited to account for subtle shifts in mood and tone. The “Tooth” chapter from Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, fully recreated here in classic 2D adventure style; easily the biggest and most involved Extra Chapter in any Corpse Party game to date, thoroughly expanding upon its Book of Shadows counterpart and providing lots of new content both in terms of story and gameplay alike. The presence of a genuinely fast fast-forward feature, making ending collection a breeze. And last but not least… those beautiful, beautiful text boxes! Seriously, those have to be the swankiest, most mesmerizing text boxes I’ve ever seen. Observe in our trailer: "

I dont know about the other Digimon games but the sotry in Cyber Sleuth is surprisingly good, far from being as good as the high quality stories known from some other story focused games but still surprisingly good. -

Yes, very linear.
