Nooo, taking more VNs alongside each other is evil, trust me... it never ends well. Especially if you take something like Umineko, that thing will hook you and won't let go until you're done with all 8 of the crazy long episodes. Plus leaving totono to play something else... hm... not sure why but that sounds really bad for your health. Or your body. (´・ω・`) But in all seriousness, enjoy!

Another hype train? (07th Expansion's new project)

Another fail update on Trian Thology: If you open the site ( http://trt.07th-expansion.net/) and check the window title... 07th Expan tion?! Hahaha, is this really happening? Come on... -
Getting all of my gaming time eaten by Bloodborne.

Another hype train? (07th Expansion's new project)

Ryukishi doesn't really mesh with anyone, giving his specific writing style - the difference in Rewrite was very apparent even after the translation. That said, I don't think it'll be a problem, if the stories are going to be separate in one way or the other. Wouldn't it be cool if the separate stories also had seprate art? :x -
Just finished the Watanagashi arc (originally the second one) in Higurashi Sui. I saw the anime before and read the manga version too, but this was my first time reading it in the definitive version... and damn, this was good! The epilogue especially is a higlight for sure, it's almost ridiculous how many mysteries and plottwists you can stuff into one ending. Also the voice work in that scene was great... creepy as hell. I'll probably just go for Onikakushi next, so I actually get back in order at least a little bit. Either way, enjoying this a lot. Also, this is completly unrelated, but whoever came up with the ida to have your batery status show up in the pause menu is a genius. Fromt he technical standpoint, this might be my favourite VN yet - integrated flowchart that lets you jump around scenes, backlog that rememebrs everyhting even when you load, including the choices; allowing you not only to replay voices, but to actually jump to specific lines from the backlog itself, scene display, BGM display... kind of a shame this isn't the standard even on consoles. I guess I'm just glad this isn't a lazy port job... even the Oyashiro Shock Quiz is a hilarious and amusing idea. That's one hardcore Higurashi trivia checker.

Another hype train? (07th Expansion's new project)

Sui actually seems to have new sprites (and CGs?), they're a bit different from the PS2 ones. Not sure if those are the DS ones by any chance, but I find that quite doubtful, given the different resolutions - and the fact that Sui uses a lot of close-up sprites that would just destroy the quality completely. As for Alchemist having all the rights... I woner how this works with Sui? I'm not really sure who exactly Kaga is, but as a matter of fact Alchemist doesn't appear anywhere in Sui at all; not in the OPs, not in the logos, or copyright - only Kaga and 07th Expansion actually get credited. I do understand that getting rights from those companies is probably near impossible, but bleh... in the 'worst case' scenario they could've just tried to translate the console version instead, VNs are making their way there already either way... But oh well. I think the biggest takeaway from this will be the re-translation, because that was sorely needed. -
Another hype train? (07th Expansion's new project)

It's not like the PS2/DS arcs aren't canon, they include more backstory on the events, characters and even Umineko tie-ins (and a completely new endings that's apparently better than the original, too), so it's not really fair to dismiss them all. I still think that MG should've just gotten their hands on Sui somehow instead of wasting resources on redrawing the art and then missing out on voices anyway, not to mention all the other content. Probably just too naive on my part, but hey, if Sekai could get the Vita assets from Grisaia, this should've been theoretically possible too, right...? If Sui didn't exist, it'd be more bearable, but MG's re-release kind of just feels like too little, too late now. Anyway, to get back on topic, here's a fun fact about the VN announcement. Trian Thology (which is also a pun on Tri Anthology) was actually originally announced with a typo in the logo itself. Good job guys... -
Another hype train? (07th Expansion's new project)

I honestly think people are either just lying to themselves or are blinded by fanboyinsm because they read through the original first. Ryu's art is just bad, and the resulting atmosphere comes after the fact, in my opinion. A console remake might be the only thing we can hope for right now, but that's quite doubtful since this isn't strictly WTC. -
Another hype train? (07th Expansion's new project)

Most of my hype for this is killed by Ryu-art and the most likely lack of budget tht signifies. I love Ryu's stories, but damn it he needs to stop drawing and acting like he's still a circle. Let alone with three writers like this... this deserves far better treatment than a mere doujin it's trying to be. -
I don't think a workaround would even be possible, SubaHibi uses the h-content to emphasise the dark themes, and a lot of the plot would quite possibly fall apart if you took the twisted scenes out, as it explores situations taken to absolute extremes. While there are a few exceptions, most of the h-scenes are there to make a point, to disgust and horrify you even - and taking them out would not only remove the impact, but also some plot points.

Other than the tiny progress I made in Senshinkan, I made it into a new arc in Higurashi Sui - this time Watanagashi. I was already getting rekt by feels in some of the scenes leading to this,,, how am I supposed to survive the arc itself? Or Meakashi after that... the feels.
-
As long as this is a full blown sequel, I'm more or less down - though there are way too many S;G titles out already. I'm much more curious about the other VNs that got announced at the same time.

Playing through it now, Ryuu ga Gotoku: Ishin! has some amazing tracks as well, especially the battle ones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXGI6yESr4U

Just finished my first arc in Higurashi Sui, the Taraimawashi arc! To sum it up into two sentences, it was something like: "So you want to run away from the problems? Well here, have a horrible bad ending!" Even the characters joke about how little clues this arc actually gives you in the bonus scenes after the ending... which are great, by the way; the self-aware 'Wrap-up parties' are a hilarious idea. Really enjoying Sui so far. Can't wait to mess around with the choices now that I ran through the flowchart once, let's see what arc I land into next. Please not Tatarigoroshi.
-
Sounds like exactly the kind of VN I will enjoy, pushing it up in my backlog. Thanks for the info!
-
Woohoo! Sui has taken its trolling to the next level - I was't locked into Tatarigoroshi after all! Seems like the Watanagashi festival is the arc-splitting point - and it has thrown me right into Taraimawashi, the all-new arc that wasn't in the PC release, and the exact arc I was trying to get. This is going to be so good... hype intensifies It's interesting how they both have a route-splitter, and then an arc-splitter... very excited to explore this structure further. So glad the flowchart is built in.

Also, I love these "living in a real world or is the real world actually a game" kinda things. Hehe... what can I say? You will get more of those scary things, and maybe even of that what you really like.
-
The problem is that by the time the choices to be nice to her appeared, they were actually the only choices I could pick - I somehow locked myself into that route without even knowing about it. Well, I consciously avoided Onikakushi by not going with Rena to the trash heap... but apparently I somehow avoided Watanagashi as well. D: That said, Satoko is slowly growing on me, her speech is getting a little bit more tolerable. Just a little though.
-
So, I made progress in Higurashi Sui, and my fate got sealed. No, no, no, no, nonono..... no..... Noooooooooooooooooo! I don't deserve such a cruel fate.. ;_;. Why Sui, why?!!!
-
Oh don't you worry, Totono is one of the VNs that just keeps getting better the further you go. And not just by bits... quite exponentially. Also, I don't know if you have this number or not, but you might want to write it down somewhere... you know, just in case.
