Man the prose in RuiTomo. <3 Tomo is a really convincing trap, haha - especially that voice acting, damn. Cointidentally, I've also started a VN by Hino yesterday - Hello Lady!. The presentation in the prologue was very nice, but the engrish... ouch. Now I just have to see if I have the willpower to push myself through the rest of KonoSora or just get on Hello Lady! instead completely.

It's decent, but that's about it. It's nont utter shit, but it's not amazing either. The story is full of dumb conveniently written plot devices and deus ex machinas, but it definitely serves the point of being entertaining at the very least. And hey, the soundtrack is by Kajiura... she was actually the only reason why I even watched it in the first place.

Well, just finished Sayonara wo Oshiete ~Comment te Dire Adieu~. What a VN... it was so unique that I don't even know how to talk about it in fear of spoiling things. I will put the basic outline of the plot in spoiler tags just in case you want to know absolutely nothing at all about the VN - there aren't actually any real spoilers there outside of the prologue scene: Sayonara wo Oshiete is definitely the best denpa I've read so far. It should come as no surprise, but as such it also deals with some really disturbing imagery - in fact, I would go as far to say that this was probably the most disturbing thing I've ever read, and I've read a lot of things that are quite out there. The horror here isn't as much in gore (although it has its fair share of graphic content), but in the implications. The author rarely ever tells you anything straight, and that makes everything all that much worse, forcing the readers to torture themselves with their own imagination. The writing is definitely my favourite part of the VN, as it can be both erratic and completely nonsensical, but also roundabout but poetic. The entire VN is written in the NVL format, and the author takes full advantage of this, writing more of a novel rather than the usual ADV narrative. Another highlight of the VN is the haunting but beautiful OST - and while dated and odd at times, I can't help it but enjoy the art a lot too. Though I like old KEY art as well, so take this opinion with a grain of salt. Overall, Sayonara wo Oshiete is an amazing 9/10. There's nothing else quite like it - and if psychological horror, more specifically denpa, is your thing, you should absolutely give it a read. Just remember... this story is not for the faint of heart.

Currently I'm just wishing this was a real anime, because it is the best thing I've seen in my entire life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0clyZjGJLMY

I will just spam more Sayooshi, I'm completely addicted to this track. Considering where it is from, that might not be a good sign. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbdaF-CU7EI Yeah, you do need a h-code, but it works like a charm after that. Also you might want to leave this VN for when you feel confident and comfortable with the language, since you will need to pay attention to every little detail in the writing, Definitely looking forward to your impressions when you do read it, though!

News From 5bp/Mages Regarding The YU-NO Remake
Vokoca replied to XReaper's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Haha, I think we all know how this is going to go. Best brace for the worst and wait for that timed exclusive. That said, I'm really looking forward to this. Didn't have a chance to play the first one yet, and depending on how this pans out, I might just skip it entirely. -
Can a serious story become a comedy because of poor translation?
Vokoca replied to FirzenExpert's topic in Visual Novel Talk
This depends on whether you find the Cross Channel translation hilarious or traumatising. -
My roommate has gotten the Prestigio MultiPad Visconte 3 for around $205 and it performs really nicely for the price. Well, battery is only 6 hours at best... but if you want to go really cheap, this is probably the lowest you can go for a 10 inch screen tablet. Well, maybe your country has a better selection, but this is an option. It also seems like that the more expensive tablets usually come with a keyboard, which isn't really needed for this use I think.

While I don't really like KonoSora, I also have to agree with the OST, it is surprisingly nice. Sometimes, great OST comes from the most unexpected places: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juuOUfGg_FQ&feature=youtu.be Yeah, it's written like a novel rather than a VN, so it can be quite difficult - but it is very much worth it.

Time to revive this topic just so I can post this. There is something magical about this song. It's so calming, to the point where stopping it is almost scary. Got to listen to all of it, got to keep up the routine.... routine is important...

I didn't read Hanachirasu yet, but it's by the same author as Muramasa.... it has to be great.

What makes Grisaia no Kajitsu so great?

Also Makina and Michiru spoilers: -
Diving into Witcher 3, with a tiny bit of Soul Sacrifice Delta on the side. Starting the Witcher 3 on Blood and Bones was a good idea - it's surprisingly easy. I normally only play games on normal so I was worried about going for hard, but damn, normal must be easy to the point of boredom. If I compare this to how relentlessly I was rekt at the beginning of the Witcher 2 back when that came out...

Well, continuing my adventures through Sayooshi. Done with three routes, with only two more left. While I see why they made the structure like this, I think it would actually benefit more if they streamlined it and reduced the number of routes altogether, because they're mostly the same with just a few differences, which ends up being really repetitive. Though well, I didn't finish the whole thing yet, so this opinion might change as well, depending on what they do in the end. If anything, this is definitely the best denpa I've read so far.

Msost of the small differences in the UBW anime are there because it continues where Fate Zero left off. It has to take things into account that didn't exist back when the VN was written (the more detailed backstories), and it was a very nice change in my opinion. There also are other additions to flesh out some characters more than didn't get that much attention in the VN in the first place, which again seemed like a very nice touch to me. Also all the non-existent anime mentioned here, you all have great imagination. Maybe I should pitch in and make up one too... like Chaos;Head! Wouldn't that be a funny adaptation, hahaha! Haha.... ha....
-
Wait... what version are you watching? The DEEN abomination anime didn't have doulbe length episodes as far as I know, and ufotable focused specifically on UBW...

Finished Far Cry 4. A fun game overall, with rather... interesting way of treating the story. The early hidden ending is still the best ending, Pagan Min is clearly way cooler than all of the flimsy Golden Path combined.

It's the next level of Denko (´・ω・`) I'm just barely follow the chat at times, so that's why.

Sometimes, the denpa just gets too real.
-
All this is somehow making me want to try YU-NO without a walkthrough, just to get lost in it... at least for a playthrough or two.
-
At least it's not as bad as Reminiscence. I heard the author himself admitted he doesn't know how to write endings at all.
-
Things are slowly starting to clear up in Sayooshi, and the more they do, the more vile and filthy the VN becomes. H-hey, Ishino-san? ...can we go back to those nightmares about angels and monsters? Somehow these were way less disturbing... ;_;
-
If anything, you can narrow this down to just aOnikakushi spoiler, in one way or the other. Even if you can somehow twist it around to explain Onikakushi, it definitely doesn't explain anything else.

I've been reading Sayooshi for quite some time now. I'm really enjoying it so far, though the VN is slowly getting into stuff that definitely isn't pleasant to read at all. Not that that's a problem though, since that's exactly what I went in for. The denpa itself is amazing so far, very well reflected by the prose. If I had to compare to anything, it feels like My Own Invention from SabuHibi expanded into an entire VN - only the writing is probably even more erratic and confused, which is amazing. The old art is oddly nostalgic, and the OST has strangely catchy tunes. Can't really comment on the plot other than it being really intriguing, I haven't been so gripped by something in a while. Haha, Ryukishi does this a lot, especially in Higurashi. I felt like some TIPS were there just to deceive you, as opposed to actually helping. That, and he uses some (in retrospect) hilarious foreshadowing. Just wait for the beginning of Tatarigoroshi, you'll like that.

The arcs themselves (at least the original ones) are generally the same, although there were some structuring edits (and therefore some changed details) since the VN switched to a common route format starting with Matsuri (the PS2 remake). This mostly only applies to the SoL stuff, though, and even if there were edits to the actual arcs, they were very minor (for example Satoko is no longer running around naked in Tatarigoroshi for obvious reasons, cue MG meltdown here). The TIPS section also has a bit different structuring, but this again also has mostly to do with the common route and the new arcs. The ending was also reworked completely into a new arc, but from what I've heard Sui has Matsuribayashi again, so that doesn't really matter. I think there weren't that many complaints about the adaptation because this was actually DEEN's best attempt at adapting anything of this scale. The question arcs themselves were actually quite intact (even if there were some differences, it still at least made perfect sense without reading the VN, which you can't say about Umineko even ignoring the fact they didn't adapt Chiru at all), and that is why the first season is regarded quite well. Kai was where it all kind of crashed, probably mostly due to their weird pacing and arc selection, but even with entire (very important) characters missing, it again at least made sense on its own. That's my take on it, anyway.
