  1. The weirdest doujins I could find... someone would watch it. To give a more serious answer, I'd be afraid to pick anything at all, honestly. A lot of great VNs work exactly because they are VNs - and this doesn't have to be just because a VN doesn't have to deal with episodic time constraints, rather than being able to use story telling conventions anime couldn't - or very hardly - could.
  2. Finished Looking-glass Insects in SubaHibi. There's not really much I have to say about it this time, as most of the plot was actually in the alternative ending already. They made me appreciate that alternative ending even more for sure, though, because this was possibly the most horrible stuff I've ever seen a character go through. :x If I'm not mistaken, the rest of the arcs isn't as long, so I might just as well finish them all in one go, if that's even healthy. Wait, is the chapter you have left the Tooth one? Oh god, I have to laugh at how stupid ghat one is every time I think about it... The last chapter is good, but it's just a prologue for BloodDrive... speaking of which, I really need to resume playing that.
  3. I'll take a pic for you when I get back home tomorrow, unless I was somehow mistaking that fancy 4K logo/seal for something else this whole time. But yeah, this is probably the reason why the VN came on 3 DVDs.
  4. This was kind of rendered invalid by the EP8 manga, not to mention that it ignores a lot of Umineko's themes that aren't directly connected to just the mystery itself - but yeah, with how the story was ended, you can more or less come up with any explanation you want. Also, possible spoilers on that video preview? ^^;
  5. Glad I'm not the only one going for weird nukige out of curiosity. Looking at the NSFW pics on Marunomi, though... oof, that's rough.
  6. Kimi ga Nozomu Eien had quite a lot translated last time I checked, but I'm pretty sure it's not the whole VN, yeah. :/
  7. Just finished the alternative path of Looking-glass Insects. It's amazing how this keeps happening, but again... I was blown again. It does overdo itself every single time, as impossible as that sounds. This VN screams 10/10 at me so loud that it's more like 11/10 now. With how good this is going, I might either die from disappointment or die from amazement... I don't think there is a way to finish this VN in a safe way.
  8. I've read it already, but I liked F/SN a little more. Maybe because I didn't play Tsukihime with music. Will replay it though.
  9. I also agree with this, I've enjoyed Tsukihime's story more than I've did F/sn's. The only reason I gave the VN a lower score is so I can push it way up when the remake comes out... if it ever comes out... maybe in 50 years? ;_;
  10. Had to join in with the santa hats... sneakily.

  11. *Looks at the username, and then into the spoiler.* HF spoilers
  12. Just started Looking-glass Insects in SubaHibi, and
  13. Aaah, I knew I would forget to mention something! And 5th time? ...wow! You must know every little detail there is to the story. ^^;
  14. Just finished the "bad" (can you even call it that? I think "alternative" might be more appropriate here) ending in SubaHibi's "My own creation". Wow.... where do I even start? It was way longer than I expected! And because of that, it gave me so many impressions that I won't be able to stuff them all in here even if I was to post a whole essay in here. To put it shortly, I absolutely loved it. This VN just keeps outdoing itself - with how things are going, I'm honestly afraid there is no way the rest of the arcs can even keep up. But judging by what the writer has shown me so far - I trust him to deliver on the rest of the VN as well. At the beginning of this arc, I was disappointed to leave the perspective of the #1 Cool FeMC Yuki, though I thought I could get to like Takuji a bit more now that I would see the story through his eyes. Then I was promptly reminded that this is the VN where nothing goes how you'd expect it to, though, and my impression of Takuji only worsened with each new scene. But you know what? That'S perfectly okay! Protagonists don't have to be likeable - and while this one was plain disgusting at certain points, it made the story all the more enjoyable. It definitely went into places I didn't expect. Perhaps the most unexpected one was coming across a h-scene that mgiht've been even more disturbing than anything in euphoria - and then, in contrast, a h-scene that was perhaps the most hilarious thing I've ever read. Truly, what a ride.
  15. What? No way. Proof:
  16. I had a very similar experience. I was turned off by the protagonist at first, but once I grasped the setting, the bizarre behaviour and feel of just about anyone became really enjoyable and interesting. It's just a shame that Cross Channel is translated like it is... I hear Romeo knows his words and how to use them in interesting ways, but the translation made the writing style feel average at best.
  17. Again, not all VNs do this. If there is some actual effort put into the h-scenes, they can fit into the story, and they can actually serve as important character development moment, rather than just a sudden personality switch. I definitely know what you're referring to, but that should be taken as lazy/bad writing, not as the standard. Though if we look on nukiges alone... I guess there's no character development in the first place, so I might just be bringing up an exception after all...
  18. I should probably add to this thread rather than just posting pointless stuff, so here goes. In that sense, h-scenes definitely have a negative effect on VNs - though I still wouldn't call it an one-sided negative effect. I agree with Zeno's idea of a 'mixed influence' in the way that the negative influence affects generally people outside of the niche group - not so much the ones inside of it, where you could argue it even has positive effects. It's also probably unfair to blame the difficult approachability on h-content alone. People will find it weird for being Japanese already; the culture is different, with different standards and measures, and even if I take the erotic content out of the quesiton completely, I still think the general public will find it repulsive in one way or the other. In this way, perhaps the general public is to blame, not the medium itself? I would also like to mention that judging h-scenes as a whole just on the bad examples (even if they are in the majority) is rather unfortunate. Sure, there are lots of VNs that have h-scenes just to fap, and there are story driven VNs with h-scenes shoehorned in so badly that they could do without them just fine - but there also exists VNs where the h-scenes are a very important, if not an integral part of the story/mechanics. Even if I disqualify euphoria for being a nukige through and through, there are other examples, like Subarashiki Hibi (where the h-scenes are used to portray just how crazy and bad things can get), Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi (where the h-scenes are an integral plot/concept point), or even the much more familiar Saya no Uta, which I would honestly rather read with the h content than without, too. And just to make this clear, I am not a huge fan of h-scenes. I don't fap to them, and I generally have to fight the urge to skip them (and I sometimes do) - but I've learned that sometimes they just are good. Sometimes, they are just as important as the story itself. And even if they are complete trash shoehorned in just for the faps and cash-- if you got this far into eroge, which make up the majority of VNs, screaming about how inappropriate they are seems kind of silly to me. Also, let's be fair here, just as much as some people would like to deny it, visual novels aren't the only medium depicting sex out there. There are plenty of books, movies or even shows - and lots of those happen to be popular. I wonder why it's okay there, but not in VNs?
  19. I wasn't going to post, but I just can't handle those arguments anymore. I have to admit that I haven't laughed this much in quite a while.
