About 80% through Grisaia no Rakuen. All that's left now is the big finale - with a lead-up like this, it had better be good! It's about time Yuuji shows some badasery. On a side note, damn, what a diverse harem he's got. Starting with the best route, I see. Enjoy!

I've decided that I wasn't jumping between VNs enough and went back to Kyonyuu Fantasy. I've finished Roxana's 'route' and Isis's... well, there's not much to say, really. Shamshel is still the best girl, the story still continues to exist, surprisingly enough, and the h-scenes continue to be kind of repetitive. I think I had enough of ridiculous breasts for quite a while again, so I'll give it a rest for some more time. Other than that, I'm making good progress in Grisaia no Rakuen. If anything, the Grisaia series should get commended for the sheer amount of retcons they managed to stuff in, but they do make sense and it makes the story more enjoyable. It even made me like Michiru a little bit more, madness. I'm somewhere halfway through the story, looking forward to where the second half goes.

What's Your Favorite Death In A VN? [500th Post Celebration Thread]
Vokoca replied to Funyarinpa's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Hm, that's an interesting question... Well, I'd have to pick Muramasa huge spoilers -
I don't think Secret Game is getting a translation, or at least not right now, yeah. I've read somewhere that Secret Game has slightly different endings, different personalities for some characters and one more route, but otherwise it should be the same as Killer Queen. So it's basically a remake as an official VN, as opposed to Killer Queen being a doujin.

The first half of Chaos;Head is pretty atmospheric, but that falls apart later on when it heads in a completely different direction. Cross;Channel is also kind of disturbing depending how you look at it, but it's definitely not scary either. From what I've read/played, Corpse Party is your best bet, though those games devolve into a fanservice gorefest the further they get. And thanks to the not so well done 3D in BloodDrive, the scares are nothing but hilarious, unfortunately.

OELVN Project Violet Hill (DEMO released)
Vokoca replied to Helvetica Standard's topic in Original Projects
Hi guys! I haven't really introduced myself here properly yet, so here goes. I guess I couldn't hide forever. D: I'm Vokoca, and I've joined the project back in February. I do a little bit of composing as a hobby, so when I saw that a project as interesting as this still had this position open, I thought it'd be interesting to try making some rubbish music for a visual novel. Helv for some reason really liked it, so here I am now. Luckily we also got the awesome Palas on our team, so the OST should have some nice variety. But enough rambling about myself, lets get to something that actually matters. What can you expect from Violet Hill's music? Rather than trying to clumsily describe it with words, here, have a listen for yourself - the new main menu theme included in the demo 3.0. On the topic of the demo, I have some more updates. We're aiming to release the demo this October, but because of some timing issues, we will have to leave some stuff out for now. It's nothing major, but from the music side, some of the place-holder tracks are still present - though you will be able to enjoy most of the new OST already. Of course, all of the public domain tracks will be completely gone by the time of the full release. Anyway, that's all from me for now, look forward to the demo coming later this month~! -
How do those VNs work? I was thinking of jumping right to Secret Game, since it just looks like a remake of Killer Queen, but is it really?

Reading through Grisaia no Rakuen. It has a rather interesting change in style compared to the previous two, and I'm still not exactly sure if I like it or not, but it is definitely fun to read. Couldn't agree more with this; the main character might just as well be the most important thing in the VN, since you get to experience the story through him/her. Also, infodumps can be great even in the middle of battles. It all depends on how they are done, I suppose - I thought I really dislike infodumps, but the ones in Muramasa really added to the experience. Well, that was mostly because a lot of the battles were decided with the first move, so a lot of the fight were the explanations/psychology itself, so I guess that's why it worked. Sudden infodumps about the history of this and that in the middle of an intense moment aren't that great, though, and there was some of that too.

Oh no, now you got me interested in something weird again.... Adds to backlog.

Just watched the first episode of Kiseijuu. Damn that was weird and disturbing... just like the manga. I guess they're succeeding at adapting so far?
-
Just finished the main route in Grisaia no Meikyuu. All I have to say is... wow, that cliffhanger. Wow.
-
Hotaru has a route in the fandisc, afaik.

I disagree, there are VNs that rely on their unusual structure, and even when they don't, they often have bad endings to give some.meaning to the choices. Using walkthroughs is throwing away the little interactivity there is, and that's not really always worth it. Though if you just want to read it like a book, go ahead.

I couldn't take it anymore... gave up on Michiru's After Story and went right for the main route going into Yuuji's past. Really liking it so far, Yuuji went though some serious shit.

Just saw the first F/sn episode. I expected it to be good, but this... this.... I CAN'T CONTAIN ALL THE HYPE, ARHG!!! EDIT: Also just saw the first episode of Grisaia. It was as bad as I expected in terms of skipping stuff, but my god those last few minutes, that was amazing. I feel like I will enjoy this, no matter how bad the adaptation gets. Well, as long as they stick to the original in a reasonable way, that is.

If you liked Michiru and her route in Kajitsu, you're going to like this as well; it's pretty much more of the same thing. I just can't take Michiru seriously, and definitely not as a heroine on top of that. Her idiocy is great when she fills the comic relief character role, but in the heroine position it just has the opposite effect. But again, if you liked Michiru as a heroine, you're going to love this.

Reading Michiru's After Story in Meikyuu and... oh my god, she's so retarded that I just feel bad for Yuuji. This is no romance, this is mental torture.

Taking a short break from RuiTomo since Rui's route had a relatively satisfying ending and reading Grisaia no Meikyuu. What can I say, the upcoming (probably horrible) anime adaptation hyped me up too much... Finished Makina's After Story, it was surprisingly full of feels and nostalgia - and the usual over the top perverted humour. I think I've enjoyed it more than Amane's AS, since it focused much more on the other characters as well... I wonder what the rest of the ASs is like? Gonna read Michiru's next. I love her as a comic relief character, but I can't really see her in any romantic way at all; she's just too good as a joke character. Well, let's see how the AS goes. When I'm done with Yumiko's and Sachi's too, it's finally time for the Grand route, woo~!

Appreciate all the mods! Appreciate! -
The only thing that does that that I can think of is not a VN but a game - Freedom Wars on the Vita. Some of the characters in that game use voice modulation for their dialogues, so they can pronounce the name you input too - and they do call you by it - but eah, not a VN.
