Seeing you liked Corpse Party and DanganRonpa, you might like Kara no Shoujo - probably the best macabre thriller VN out there, at least from the translated ones. There's nothing else quite like it - it's dark, serious, the protagonist isn't a high-schooler and it has interactive crime investigations that really require you to think; definitely don't expect anything as easy as DanganRonpa, there's no hand-leading in Kara no Shoujo at all, only punishing (and awesome) bad ends. Makina is such a good character that I even enjoyed her h-scenes because of how hilarious they were, and I almost never enjoy h-scenes. EDIT: Since I'm back on the dorms now, I'm not really risking Chinami's route anymore, I don't want to run into any accidental h-content in the worst times. Could anyone recommend me a safer VN for the time being? Or at least something with a safe common route.

Yeah, I don't mind it so far, since it at least sets the VN apart from regular slice of life stuff, which is nice. Though it's already quite ridiculous with what they've thrown out already as means of reasoning, so I'm kind of afraid of what will come next, now that you mention it. :x Also just got to the first h-scene. Yep, definitely not my thing, but thanks to the so far good plot, it's still way more tolerable than Aoi's route.

Yeah, reading Chinami's route, they're mushing the fantasy stuff really hard, so you can just write off that theory as wishful thinking. While this fantasy stuff is kind of interesting, I kind of wish it was the same as Umineko's magic instead.

I'm at Chinami's route in Hoshizora, and I'm surprisingly liking it a lot so far. The story is really nice - I'm currently at the point I honestly wish it would just end here, because I'm pretty sure I'll start disliking it once it goes into the h-scene territory. :S Well, they do call her a kuudere even in the VN itself.

I'm curious how they'll handle the memes and the like.

Just disable your antivirus while you're downloading, so it doesn't delete the exe file. You could then try whitelisting the file before turning the antivirus back on.

I was also unsure what to think of Nisemonogatari... then that toothbrush scene happened and it became the most disturbing and hilarious thing I've ever seen. I've never seen anything else that would make me uncomfortable and amused at the same time, that scene certainly was an accomplishemnt. Best moment in Nise.

There's already a fan translation on youtube as far as I know, so if you're going to do that, you don't even have to wait.

It's Michiru, Yumiko is a kuudere. People seem to like Michiru, though the only times I liked her were when she was getting beaten up by Makina. She makes for such a good punching bag character, it was hilarious. really surprised me. Personally, I would have preferred if You himself had Moving on to Komomo's route. Kinda unsure about her character; she's obviously tsundere, but I hope she's more than just that. I think I'd be a little disappointed if she isn't :/ Komomo was not only my favourite character, but she had the most interesting route so far as well. Don't worry, if it wasn't obvious from the common route already, she's one of the much more likeable tsunderes - she's not the kind who gets away with all of her crap just because she might act nice sometime down the line, she's actually a very nice person with just an awkward attitude. She might complain about things, but she actually gets things done... a major plus compared to the rest of the characters, if you ask me. Aoi is her polar opposite, she's the pinnacle of annoying characters. As for Asuho's route, I had this theory that

Hm, no good. The only h-code I could find on the wiki page was for Blood Covered (I have Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient, which runs on a completely new engine). I've tried messing with the HEX values to find the code myself, and while I was able to find the text, the software provided refuses to work with the game properly, so I can't really get any results from there either. I guess this is just too different from a VN... thanks for the help, though. Edit: No luck with Cheat Engine either, it keeps giving me ??? values. Oh well, guess I should work on my kanji.

Is there a way to make this work? After attaching it to the process, I don't get any text-- I was wondering if there were some settings to fix this, or am I out of luck with this one?

I'm pretty sure that's the main reason for them going with the Vita instead, since they can be sure it won't be pirated then. It sucks, but looking at it from the publisher's perspective, I think it makes perfect sense.

I usually dislike h-scenes, but there are rare exceptions... I'll be cautiously optimistic.

Well, time to fight through Chinami's route in Hoshizora. I really don't like incest, so this'll be hard. Though at least she can't be as pathetic as Aoi, can she? I am usually quite tolerant to overreacting in VNs, but this was just infinitely stupid.

Well, you just pretty much answered yourself. Sure, I might not have much say since I actually do own a Vita, but the loss of touch-controls and potentially better graphics/performance, along with perhaps some other features, definitely does not sound worth it to me. I haven't tried the Vita re-release of DanganRonpa yet, but I can easily see how much the game would benefit with the touch support alone. Let's take Virtue's Last Reward as an example - that game allows you to either use the touch-screen or the buttons - or better yet, a combination of the two - and that really makes a big difference. I probably wouldn't enjoy VLR as much if it wasn't for the well done touch controls. To get back to SDR2, losing out on the touch support in the exploration aspects probably doesn't seem like such a big loss, but just imagine how much touch controls would help with the trials, specifically the parts where you have to shoot down arguments with your words. Where's Persona 4: Golden? Blasphemy!

The whole F/sn is kind of unimpressive save for some parts, but Fate was the worst, yeah. And Danganronpa2 is getting a translation? Awesome, sounds like I can stop fighting with the kanji now. ------- Just finished Aoi's route. It's finally over! That was pure suffering. The route actually made me hate her.

Yeah, she could be cute, but that pretty much never happens. She sometimes says something funny, but that's about it. I really don't like how everyone just lets her get away with her insufferable personality and for some reason do everything possible for her, it just doesn't make sense... there are no redeeming qualities. :/ How are you liking Asuho's route? I was pretty unimpressed with that one, though it was still much better than Aoi's at the very least. And her character is likeable, at least, maybe save for the constant screaming.

Are you forgetting that they weren't exactly normal either in the first place? Let alone Yuuji. I think that's why it actually worked - and the fact she didn't really cut anyone, of course.

I'm having a hard time with Aoi's route. She's being incredibly annoying and there's pretty much nothing interesting happening.... why won't this end already. ;_; It's funny how Hoshizora has a wonderful tsundere and a horrendous kuudere, while Grisaia has a wonderful kuudere and a horrendous tsundere. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO--- Ehm... I'm dreading that route. Currently stuck at the beginning of Aoi's, and it's horrendously boring. Well, I did the mistake of playing Komomo's early, I guess. Did you actually like the final mission? I found it incredibly predictable and disappointing - tons of wasted potential there.

Umineko, no doubt. It's unique, catchy, and has amazing variety. I usually have one or two favourite tracks from any VN OST that I listen to a lot, but I love just about every single song from Umineko. If I had to pick a second one, probably Saya no Uta for these great creepy, mysterious tunes, and the wonderful vocal tracks.

No way, she's just an adorable loli in the world full of ugly monsters. All the other characters are just crazy. I love kuuderes myself, so as long as the dere delivers, it should be good. Though I'm looking for more story as well. But Komomo will be tough to beat. It has been a long time since I came across a tsundere that actually wasn't annoying as hell.
