She just appeared in the route for the first time for me... and I almost agree already. As for the humour, I don't really mind. I guess I just have high tolerance for this, I've read/played things with a much more out-of-place jokes, and I still laughed at them - Drag-on Dragoon 3 (not a VN) for example is incredily dark and serious the whole time, but it has several bizarre 4th-wall breaking jokes that come absolutely out of nowhere... and it somehow made it even better for me.

Where did the first episode go? I completely missed this when it happened and now it's gone.
-
Exactly, that's why I liked Yuuji so much. The only similar character I can think of is the MC from AkaGoei I'm reading right now, but even those two are very different from each other. They just both have some messed up past that has shaped them up into something quite incompatible with society, but they both deal with it in a very different way.
-
Yeah, that's understandable. Yuuji's not your usual goody-MC for sure. Not to say he's a bad person, but the way he goes about doing things... well, you'll see. Definitely makes for an interesting read.
-
Ah, I kind of forgot that part. Well, the h-scenes are about the last thing I remember from VNs, though considering Yuuji's character, what he did shouldn't be that surprising. I wouldn't say he's a downright sadist by any means though, considering his reasoning behind the actions.

Cheetah manzai... yeah, I think I've seen everything now. As hilarious as this is, it also seems a bit out of place. Also, just when I thought Tae wouldn't get her way... freaking warheads! Was he really? I can't really remember, though him being a sadist is what Amane wants either way.

I've been trying my best to play off the robot thing as a joke, but sometimes it's really hard. And talking animals? I see there are still weirder things waiting for me.
-
Just started Tae's route in AkaGoei. I think I'll do Aya next, then Reika and leave Moe for last, as suggested. Also those robot jokes are getting so out of hand I'm starting to think they aren't jokes at all. ---- Played some more of her route... uuu, she's so cute. I usually find these characters annoying, but Tae definitely has her cute moments. Although her inability to write kanji properly wasn't even funny, because my kanji finals will look even worse than that.

Since I dread the VNs that don't have the "skip already read text" option, no, I don't reread. Assuming the system works, you'll never miss out on stuff either. Plus there were some random events, like the recordings on Sunohara's tape and scuh... man, Clannad was so good content-wise.

Well, I don't know how I got there, but I've finished Tsuki's route in AkaGoei. It's pretty funny, since I really liked her character. Loved the route, the climax was some really dark stuff, I really liked the twist. Well, onto the other routes, I guess! Even though I have absolutely no idea how-- this will be fun. Hahaha, you have no idea...

I highly recommend going without a guide, using a walkthrough would just ruin all the fun the choices present. Just make sure to save often - there is a LOT of bad ends, but each one comes with an (often hilarious) hint corner, which tells you exactly what you did wrong, eliminating the need of a guide completely. Plus, if you watch all the hints, something cool happens~ There is a nice flowchart out there if you really hate choices for some reason, but yeah-- using a guide takes away from what VNs are all about, in my opinion.

Hm, was KonoSora so popular? I read only Ageha's route of it and had enough... Well, I am planning to get back to it someday, I hop the rest is better.
-
Yep, definitely. Just don't do it in reverse order, like I did.
-
Reading AkaGoei a bit at a time, it's a bit tiring in Japanese. Anyway, it seems as if I am in Tsuki's route already, unless the common route focuses on her a lot. Her route or not, I'm really liking the backstory. What a shocker! I was just wondering if it has updated art or something, but if it isn't anything important, then yeah, I will stick to the version I have now. Plus, I wouldn't want to re-read so soon anyway. If you're stupid like me and look for ost tracks on youtube, it can happen easily. Even if you manage not to look into the comments, there still is a danger of CGs and video names. I was once looking up OST for a certain anime after finishing it, and it found the OST from the second season of the anime (which I haven't seen yet), with "CHARACTER X DEATH SCENE" right behind the song name in the title. Worst part was that this was a VN adaptation.
-
Hm, thanks for the tips! So far I haven't came across any choices that would be a clear indication of going towards certain routes , maybe except for one, but I will keep the Moe one in mind! By the way, I've just now found out that there's some sort of a re-release titled Trinity, any idea what's that all about? Am I missing something if I'm not reading that one, or is it just like a bundle of all the three VNs in one?
-
Tch... you got lucky... this time. Kidding, I know that feel. I always get really curious about the VN structure and get tempted to look up the common/heroine route details. Or looking for OST... those two almost always managed to spoil me without fail, so I stopped doing it completely.

Reading more AkaGoei. Got to some more interesting story bits, but the way things are going, I really can't imagine how the routes will even work. Seeing what the routes entail is taboo to the MC no matter which character route it'll be, I'm really curious in which way things will go. And the main route (Reika has one, right? Or does it work dfferently? I have no idea what to make of the structure so far, but that's pretty fun in itself too--) I can imagine the least.

Visual Novel Games You Liked Unexpectedly But Still Never Finished
Vokoca replied to Gahaha's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Kyonyuu Fantasy. I just wanted to try at least one dumb nukige, and it ended up being surprisingly entertaining, even story-wise. I am planning to finish some routes eventually, but there's at least one I can see myself never doing. EDIT: Oh, Muv Luv would be a more normal example. I actually liked the humor a lot and the story was passable for a slice-of-life thing, but I found the characters mostly unlikeable - so even if I finished the two main routes and suffered through the unexpectedly bad Ayane route, I will never be coming back for any of the other characters. Same for Unlimited, one route was enough for me (and that extra end). -
Good, that's the correct way to play these kinds of things.

Reading more of AkaGoei. Why do I have to go with that fat guy's plan? Ewww... I have a really bad feeling about that. If you can get over bad production values (okay at best art, bad, repetitive BGMs, almost non-existent SFX and the dreadful silence), you'll enjoy the story. There are some cool concepts, and even though the plot-points in the routes can be repetitive, it's an enjoyable read. If we ever get that remake, I might very well like it more than F/sn, to be honest--but then again, I wasn't too crazy over F/sn. At least Maria is nowhere as awesome bad as Rena and Mion/Shion. Now that was some amazingly creepy shit. When it comes to the creepy factor, Higurashi is still a clear winner in my book.

I definitely agree with what was mentioned above, you can't go wrong with KEY stuff. Even if you've seen Clannad already, I really recomend the VN for the sheer freedom it offers - plus none of the route endings beside Nagisa's were animated, and the whole theme behind Clannad is explained much better. I would even recommend Little Busters!. Even if you didn't like the beginning of the anime, I am pretty sure you'd like the novel - the anime wasn't very good, and mainly, the story gets really awesome only once the story hits Refrain, which is LB!s equivalent of Clannad's After Story - so what you've seen wasn't really a good representation of the piece as a whole. Rewrite is also great, though it is quite different from the usual KEY stuff. Not as much focused on love and friendship like the previously mentioned two. You could also go for Kanon if you want to read something older, but it probably won't impress you that much, especially if you know Clannad already. At least it didn't have such an impact on me.

Looking at the stretchgoals... isn't that Umineko parody a bit too much? As in, isn't that way too close to the source material for something they're getting paid for...? o.O
-
Sure, that could work. よろしく~

Don't, there are much more qualified people than me here. I'm still just a beginner.

How could he not, it was obvious that it was (Not spoilers, but just to be safe. )
