  1. True and there's a super annoying theme running through the game that's just naive and childish and is just superficial as hell. It just makes me want to roll my eyes ... in fact I do constantly roll my eyes. Blaming everything on *refer to spoiler above* is such an utter cop out. I'm a fan of the time constraints and the seriousness with which the characters treat the problem though. So the game is more constrained time wise which makes it better paced imo (it doesn't devolve into as much slice of life and makes the game more focused, which is a positive for me but a disappointment for others) and the characters are treating things with the gravity they deserve (except for Ryuji, who I want to eject out of an airlock. I'm sad this game isn't sci-fi because that means no airlocks ) It's mostly a preference thing, there's not too much different between the two but some will prefer one over the other. My sister loves the pants off Persona 4 and didn't like Persona 3 as much, but I was always the other way around. One thing which is an undeniable improvement is the gameplay. The dungeons are superb, there's vertical space used in ledges and climbing and they're not randomly generated which is a massive improvement. There's more tactics, more skill types available, it's just another step up.
  2. To me Persona 4 had a superficial plot and it focused more on the characters. Persona 5 has a more substantial plot with a bit less focus on the characters. I like the balance more in P5 but if you like the characters I can understand why you'd go more for P4. Also I just have problems with the whole 'reaching into a TV' thing and why nobody just stuck their hand into a TV in front of people. Like the police, for instance. I'm also digging the atmosphere in this game which is just the right amount of 'dark' for me, similar to P3.
  3. To be honest I'm preferring the characters from Persona 5 over those from Persona 4. The main characters from P4 (yosuke, Chie, Yukiko) all felt ... 'young' to me whereas there's a bit more maturity (ignoring Ryuji) from the ensemble this time around.
  4. Just starting the third dungeon Why aren't there more than 24 hours in a day!
  5. Of course, some RPG fans didn't even like BG2, thinking it was RPG-lite: Source: creator of Age of Decadence http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/why-was-bg2-subpar.1935/#post-17979 That being said their games still sell well, so *shrugs*
  6. Before that people hated ME2 for taking out all RPGness from ME1 (before replacing some in ME3) to make it a generic shooter ... with mediocre shooter mechanics. Before that people hated ME1 because it meant Bioware was heading down the shooter path. Before that they hated Jade Empire for being just an action game. Before that they hated KOTOR because it meant Bioware was developing games for "console casuals." Before that people hated NWN for "false advertising" because it was meant as a multiplayer game, but the "sample single player scenario" was advertised as a full on single person game. The Bioware hate is old-hat. It's not as recent as people portray it to be, and the ME3 ending drama was blown out of all proportion. The only uncontroversial games Bioware ever released was the Baldur's Gate series. What's really hurting Bioware is that for the first time in a very long while, they've actually got some competition 0.0 CD Projekt = new Bioware? The rumour going round is that Casey Hudson was responsible for the ME3 ending
  7. That's a really good question, and you're from France ... what an excellent opportunity to ask. Why didn't you guys just go to another christian country?
  8. Ryuuji remembers to go to the toilet BEFORE taking a trip to the other world. This automatically makes him superior as a companion
  9. Now I feel bad for mocking you ... because the game is legit awesome ATLUS should port their games to PC
  10. Wow, that's a whole 2 weeks away. I don't know how you'll manage, Funya, I mean everyone else will only be playing the best JRPG of the decade while you'll be ... twiddling your thumbs and stuff
  11. How many days do you reckon you'll need to finish a dungeon? 3ish?
  12. Wasn’t Nekopara just a glorified gallery for people who were interested in a famous artist and her 2 famous cat creations?
  13. It’s been a blast so far. The story and atmosphere/characters are less juvenile than Persona 4 (which was actually my main complaint about the game.) Very stylish presentation and the battle system is as addictive as ever. Only managed to put in a couple of hours though, but I can’t wait to get back to it … in a couple of days time
  14. Hooray, apparently save points in dungeons. About freaking time. It's good news but disappointing that Persona 5 still hangs onto the outdated save point mechanism. I'm over the whole 'developers want players to play certain blocks in one sitting' thing and will like to raise them a 'people are becoming increasingly busy with RL and work and often don't have huge chunks of time with which to play games, therefore enabling a put-down and pick-up gameplay style by incorporating a save anywhere system would be most appreciated'.
  15. It's already the 4th in Australia, which means everyone can already legitimately pick up their copies
  16. Lol. People often just want their prejudices reaffirmed rather than viewing things with an open mind, and modern education systems will sometimes pander to these people by striking offensive topics or discussions from the curriculum. Stupid stuff really. The collapse of the Ottoman Empire and its subsequent carve up was the worst thing to happen to the Middle East.
  17. Out of curiosity how did you find the trilogy? I've often been tempted to read Abercrombie but he's always seemed a bit too dark for my taste. Is his work real good?
  18. Oh now you're just taking the smeg. How could you not know 'gobbledegook'? It's one of the most useful words in the English language!
  19. But it's the 2nd of April in Australia :3
  20. Typical discussion of politics isn't that interesting. Typically either people seclude themselves with other like minded people so they can circle-jerk (or offer useless one-line snarks) in peace, and you'll just have an endless back and forth of the same points they agree with followed by choruses of "yeah", "too right", and "fuck them" (on rare occasions they'll stick all three responses together to create a single really long response, and then they'll collapse exhausted from the effort.) Or you have a flame war between people that don't want to listen to each other, because opinions have already been formed and they're not interested in changing. EDIT: There's a reason why political discussions are sometimes banned from forums. If you like political discussions though, you should watch the first 4 seasons of the West Wing :3 I've got it Dear @Okarin Kurisu-chan is a tsundere and changed his mind about leaving in his stereotypical tsundere manner. While no longer leaving Fuwanovel he is still a complete tsundere and would like everyone to refer to him as such. Tsundere-chan is his preferred name, but Tsundere Kurisu-chan would also be acceptable. Yours in complete honesty, Rooke There, explained. You’re welcome Tsundere Kurisu-chan
  21. It's a valid complaint. A high school setting means young characters, and younger characters means (generally) less history and therefore less personality. Less depth. Younger characters tend to mean less interesting characters. It's probably part of the reason why some VNs resort to extremely unbelievable backstories to try and give their high school characters depth of character.
  22. A QWERTY keyboard was specifically designed to slow the typist down, because if you typed fast on a typewriter the mechanical pins would all raise at the same time and jam. So they designed the QWERTY and made it so your fingers and wrist have to travel farther to type. A Dvorak keyboard is designed for the computer, it puts all the most used letters near the home position, and it cuts the distance your fingers have to travel in half resulting in less stress on your hand and wrist. It also means faster typing once you get used to it. Of course, if you use a claw grip for your mouse you're just asking for problems and a DVORAK won't help Good luck with your recovery
  23. I'm hearing people say that Bioware has gone to poo and are far from the studio they were when they produced such classics as KOTOR. People seem to have short term memories, this sort of thing has happened every time there was a bioware release. When KOTOR was released, people complained about the writing, Bastilla and Carth, the linearity of it, Bastilla and Carth, the short length, Bastilla and Carth, and the corny dramatic "twist" in the middle. Remember these EMOTIONAL and IMPACTFUL natural sounding pieces of dialogue: I've always loved Carth's emotional reminiscence. Very natural. Did anyone else like that tiny afterthought of an info-dump in the middle? Or maybe people remember that at the beginning of the game when your ship was being boarded by a dark jedi, the guy who woke you up calmly explained things to you and gently guided your hand through the ship. How natural was that? Then came Jade Empire which everyone hated, and Mass Effect series which many people hated, and DA:2 which many people hated, and every time Bioware releases a game it's like all hatred of their previous titles magically disappears. I'd examine the phenomena but I have bigger issues on my mind right now, but I will say it's downright wacky. The newest complaint though is that Bioware is "overrun with SJWs" and I have no time for that. If they stop catering games to you then stop buying their games. Also the Asari "fix" that anon dude did is horrible. It looks like a 15 year old's wet alien dream, complete with seductive overbite. Anyway, Mass Effect Andromeda. So far I agree with InvertMouse that the game is nowhere near as bad as people have been saying. The writing seems fine. The characters are where Mass Effect is shining here, with dialogue revealing personality and character while still moving the story forward, and this makes the game quite fun to explore and engage in. A story is about people and when you have great people with (generally speaking) good dialogue, that's a major tick in the plus column. Unfortunately (and I'm not far enough into the game to say for sure) I don't think the story will be one of the game's strong points. But considering ME2 didn't have a plot either, I think we can forgive them that. Bioware have never really had exceptional plots (ME1 being an exception.) The worldbuilding isn't on the same level as the original ME trilogy (which was exceptional.) Lastly the villains of the game sorta suck a little. All in all, it's not as good as the previous Mass Effect games, but the writing is fine/good. The combat is better than any of the other Mass Effect games, which means I suck a little at it because I suck with action games in general. I've died 6 times so far, but I bumped the difficulty up to hardcore and I refuse to bump it back down I can live with the facial animations, although as has been said they do make the dialogue seem worse than it actually is. I can live with the walking animations (we've all played Beth or Bioware games, right?) It seems like exploration will be a big theme in the game, so I hope it proves to be fun. I'm just heading out to Eos, which is apparently the Hinterlands of Mass Effect Andromeda, so I hope the experience there won't be overly dull. So far I've had plenty of fun. Had to put the game down yesterday and was yearning for the moment I could get back to it, and that's always a good test to see whether it's been worth the $100 :3
  24. I know that a couple more great otome titles would not only be welcome by me but also by much of the VN community Here's hoping these hopes will be realised :3
