Have you tried a reverse image search? https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/1325808?p=searchbyimagepage&hl=en

Yeah, prices are absurd in Japan. One day they'll learn that if they lower their prices a smidge they'll get more customers.

Firstly, JAST releases a boatload of quality games. Their current lineup of upcoming games are as follows: -Stein's Gate -Hanacharisu -Django -Kikokugai -Sumaga -Seinarukana -Starless -Starry Sky -Romanesque -Shiny Days -Osadai FD -RAIDY 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Sweet Home -Sumeragi Bitch And let's not forget that they just released Yumina. Nukige is currently Mangagamer's specialty. Secondly, supporting a developer does not mean supporting a distributer. If you don't want to support Mangagamer but can't read Japanese (but still wish to support the developer,) then import the game from Japan AND download the pirated version. The VN industry (and indeed the game industry in general) has been in decline in Japan for about a decade, possibly longer. They need all the support they can get and if they don't get any, then don't expect as many VNs to be made in the future. Personally I'm getting too old to be 'taking a stand against the man,' so I'll be buying the game from Mangagamer because it's the easiest way for me to support the developers.

Secret Game series translation by Lemnisca
Darklord Rooke replied to johnnysasaki's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
*Whips out pistol* I will be sensitive to their needs -
I see. So, if you're supporting Nyatraap's dungeon crawler, a joint European and Japanese development team by the way, it will mean more nukige games made (and licensed) by Doujin company Morningstar. Which is a bad thing. Thank you for clearing that up. If anybody needs me I'll be off pumping money into Obsidian - I've always wanted Blizzard to make more Auction House games...

I've never used a Torrent either. I suppose one day I'll be forced to learn how, but that day hasn't arrived yet. Welcome nicole1312. I'd post a welcome image full of blood, gore and people fondling intestines, but I'm too lazy I've misplaced it.

Secret Game series translation by Lemnisca
Darklord Rooke replied to johnnysasaki's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
In the old days people used to vote with their wallet. They didn't, for example, go on and on about how Moenovel was 'ruining the industry' -
Secret Game series translation by Lemnisca
Darklord Rooke replied to johnnysasaki's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
Never understood the angst over the removal of h-scenes in VNs. The anger directed at Moenovel, for example, pushed the boundaries of conventional ridiculousness to the limits. I have no problem with what Lemnisca is doing. -
Oh shit, 2 please! I have Erythropoietic Protoporphyria, which means I can only go to the beach if I'm willing to spend the next 3 days in a great deal of pain. And by that I mean my hands will feel like they've been set on fire. I'm going to rip off Red Dwarf for my question. You've died and have gone to the afterlife. Before your soul can undertake its final journey, all the actions you've performed in your lifetime are to be reviewed and you will be judged. Who would you prefer to be judged by: a) An omnipotent God b )Your own conscience

Japanese and the West have different story-telling techniques which will keep them from being a success in the West. An example I like to use is bloat (because it's easily identifiable), bloat isn't accepted in the West but there is a ton of bloat in visual novels. Visual novels need to have tighter writing before they'll sell in the West. It's also the price point. Visual novels are aimed at young people, but they're damn expensive. You're paying the same price as a game for what is essentially a novel. Movies are cheaper, you can buy seasons of your favourite TV show for cheaper, young people don't have a lot of cash to splash around. And I suppose it's also the sex.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies Released! (3DS)
Darklord Rooke replied to Ryechu's topic in Visual Novel Talk
The recent Ace Attorney games have been a little disappointing. The original trilogy was awesome, but imo, the recent titles haven't been able to recapture the magic of the originals. I'll still get this one, but it's no longer a priority for me. -
Would You Sacrifice Yourself For Another You?
Darklord Rooke replied to Silvachief's topic in General Discussion
I'd sign. A person grows with their experience, you have no memory and so you have far less growth. Which means you're less of a person than you used to be, not a new person. On the other hand, if you're experiences were mainly bad, then it is possible that the growth you obtained before was not helpful to you, and starting with a clean slate may not be a bad thing. You'd still be less of a person than you were before, but you didn't want to be that person so no big deal. That being said, what I'm feeling from the paragraphs above is that before the amnesia, that person wasn't living a bad life. Which means I'd want all that growth back, and thus I'd sign. If there were evil henchmen waiting in the background, eyeing you eagerly and fingering long knives, then I'd think twice. -
These are my thoughts as well. However I don't use FB, Twitter or IRC, so I wouldn't know what the atmosphere is like in these places.

And this is the second reason using 'eroge' is inefficient. Not only does the term 'eroge' provide no information about the gameplay mechanics of a title (it does not imply 'VN' Joyjason. It's why Lightning Raidy is called an 'eroge' despite being a dungeon crawler RPG,) but you're reduced to referring to Stein's Gate and Ever 17 as 'games', again a term which provides no information about the gameplay. We label games by gameplay mechanics, VN, RPG, shooter, puzzle. 'Eroge' and 'galge' are descriptions about content, which is why a lot of people don't use them. @Albedo - I don't like referring to VNs as 'games' either, but people call 'choose your own adventure' books 'gamebooks' for some reason. I suppose calling VNs 'games' is consistent...

Leviathan: The Last Day of the Decade
Darklord Rooke replied to Darklord Rooke's topic in Visual Novel Talk
[Low blow aimed at Square-Enix]I'm still pissed they included Lightning Raidy on their database but not Final Fantasy XIII. I think everybody will agree that FFXIII has far more visual novel elements, and fewer RPG elements, than Lightning Raidy [/Low blow aimed at Square-Enix] -
Plenty of diversity is a good thing. But I agree with you on mystery VNs, can't stand them.

Wow, that was short... Oh. I should have read your first post instead of just skimming it.

I've just spent the last 5 minutes trying to work out what the thread title means. Does it mean you 'didn't quite make the VN on offer' or 'the game on offer isn't quite a VN'? A further 5 minutes was then spent wondering what that said about my personality I've just downloaded your game and will be giving it a whirl soon.

Rose Gun Days Season 2 is translated now!
Darklord Rooke replied to farispie's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Awesome news. Unfortunately, it will take me a whole year to clear my backlog so I won't be playing it anytime soon, which is not so awesome.
