Your biggest turn-offs in visual novels?
MikeY91 replied to CeruleanGamer's topic in Visual Novel Talk
well i can't say i am satisfied with the H-scenes in most visual novels, 95% of the time i just skip them, but what turns me off: like others have mentioned, unrealistic oversized breasts.i also hate it when they make the girls cum like a fountain, and they have their bodies sweating and drooling like crazy lolrushed H-scenes that ruin the route ( happens in almost all vns)i also dislike it when they have sex while they are not clean, to illustrate, while we know the heroine/protagonist haven't even showered for days (due to some circumstances) and yet they have sex like it's the most normal thing in the world, and even worse they do oral . i mean damn, their genitals must taste like sewer after all that... (sorry if i made you puke.)i don't like it when the heroine is overly shy about having sex and keeps denying that she is enjoying it even though she is the one who begged for sex, (i am looking at you Amane ..) i guess that's about it for me, when i started playing vns i was actually looking forward for H-scenes but now i am just meh. -
Favorite Group of Heroines in a Visual Novel
MikeY91 replied to VirginSmasher's topic in Visual Novel Talk
as for me i would go for Katawa Shoujo as well, uncertain whether it is because it was my first vn that i played or not, but i honestly liked all the heroines. (well i haven't finished Shizune's route). but there wasn't any character whom i felt was 'annoying', they all had unique personalities. PS: Rin drove me crazy ! -
I usually like a vn with a realistic atmosphere, mainly from the point of psychological behavior. And I would say that this is rarely the case in most vns, the best example I could give is Swan Song, so far this is the only vn that followed an almost realistic psychological approach. This is why for me I think it was a masterpiece, all the characters behaviors made sense and were realistic. So yeah that's the most important thing for me in a vn, I don't mind sci-fi and all that as long as at least the vn follows a realistic psychological approach. Other than that, I usually prefer a vn that has heroines and/protagonist with psychological problems, I like to see how they deal with those problems and how they handle them. Mainly I look for vns that deal with characters who suffered abuse/rape/trauma etc in their past, also my favourite type is a vn that has characters who suffer from social phobia or any related issue. I'm playing Grisaia right now and I like it so far, the only downside is that sometimes the vn takes the "supernatural" approach to explain things while it could have easily used the psychological way. An example is in Michiru's route: So yeah, that's what I mainly look for in vns. And sadly what I'm looking for isn't something that you can easily find in vns.

Is there a visual novel character who resembles your personality?
MikeY91 replied to MikeY91's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Ok I'll consider it, I'm reading Steins; Gate right now and I was actually thinking about reading another vn at the same time. -
Let's see, you could hate many people in Swan Song, Kugawata (not sure if spelled correctly Lol) is an example. At the beginning I actually thought he was one of the most pathetic characters I have ever come across. But after he changed, well...I understand the mental pressure everyone was going through, but it's still not an excuse for them to do all the terrible things they had done.

What were the Visual First novels you've ever seen?
MikeY91 replied to The Striker's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Katawa Shoujo for me too, i still love it. Hanako is so kawaii -
THIS, i think one of the reasons i dropped it is because i had very high expectations, i had the impression it was a 'masterpiece', i just found it very average, and slightly boring. i only played up to Kuds route and i dropped it when the route started. it is funny cuz i was looking up to her route all along, she is so kawaii but i just really felt so bored and couldn't play LB anymore, maybe one day i will come back and finish it.

could you explain why? ah i see, on a second thought, would you consider Steins;Gate to be 'depressing'? it seems like it has been ages since i played a non depressing vn -

i am already downloading it right now haha ok i will use a walk-through, i usually do that for all vns, i don't wanna just randomly play and arrive at an unexpected ending. -
Hello guys, i am about done with Swan Song, what an amazing vn ! definitely one of the top VNs i played. i am not sure what to play next, both Chaos;Head and Rewrite are on my mind. i am hesitant to play Rewrite because of the long common route other people mentioned, i dropped Little Busters because of that so i dunno if i will have the same experience with Rewrite. Anyway, i am looking for a VN that is realistic in terms of human behavior, i don't mind Sci-fi or fictional novels i just pay attention to the personality of the characters. my ratings for the VNs i played so far: Little Busters!: (dropped) Cross Channel: 7/10 (Could have been better but i hated the ending) Katawa Shoujo: 9/10 G-senjou no Maou: 7/10 (the plot was good, i just didn't like the characters, Haru was cool though) Saya no Uta: 9/10 Narcissu: 10/10 a masterpiece ! Swan Song: so far 10/10 You can really recommend me any genre, i like deep and thought provoking characters, i love emotional stuff, i am into human psychology, i like vns about Apocalypse, i like romance as long as it makes sense not just people falling in love with each other for no damn reason ! I don't mind violence, blood, rape etc. to summarize, i just don't like visual novels that will make me feel stupid foe reading them.

(Warning: major spoilers, don't read if you haven't read the VN yet. Alright, so i am finally done with Cross Channel, i really enjoyed the VN throughout the whole time... However... the ending is just....terrible.... How do i put this, Cross Channel revolves around mysteries, for example: the weeks repeating and odd characters behaviors, the game makes you feel that you are missing something, and (naturally) you feel that those things will be thoroughly explained whether late in the game or at the ending. well, WRONG, while many things were indeed explained, but many key things were left to "our imagination" if that makes sense. for example, Nanaka, i thought she was a brilliant character, and i was anticipating to find who she really is. but:
