  1. I'd say it's at least intermediate. The fight scenes can prove especially tricky, so I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner. That being said, if you really want to read it, there is no harm in checking out the trial to gauge whether or not you'd be able to comprehend the rest of the game at your current level. Akabeisoft is quite annoying, as they block IPs that aren't Japanese from accessing their website, but you can still download the game's trial from sites that sells the game, like Getchu. (Just hit the "体験版DL" button on this site.)
  2. Hmm, I'd say Ryuu Kishi Bloody Saga fits pretty well in a lot of ways. Most of the points are pretty spot on, honestly. While not all of them play into the "journey" directly, most of what goes on in Roy's mind, and the way he changes through the game very much follows that structure. It's a pretty underrated game in my opinion. Definitely worth checking out.
  3. Of course. They add honorifics and titles, just like we remove them, in order to adapt the text to our culture, and make it more readable. I've seen some very good Japanese subs and dubs in the past, and they do exactly what we do, in the sense that they localize. Translation is about localizing the material to fit the target language, whether you are translating to English, Greek, Japanese, what have you. Leaving in something like honorifics, which is completely alien in English, is objectively a bad idea, unless it simply cannot be avoided, which is incredibly rare.
  4. You can use Jisho's radical function, where you can piece together kanji by their radicals. Each time you select one radical you see in a kanji, you'll get a list of suggestions. The more you add, the fewer suggestions you'll see. It's an easy way to look up kanji, and a great way to practice remembering the radicals, too. Software doing this will always be kind of iffy, and once you learn the radicals, you will be able to look up kanji faster than the software anyways.
  5. Seems like that might be the Beat games. They released Ixseal last year, and are already working on a new one. Now that Rance is finished, maybe this will be their go to series.
  6. Just download the game from Mangagamer again, and the patch will already be applied.
  7. Yeah, I know, I've read the opening myself. I figured maybe he already knew that part of the story, and was looking for the title in general. Though, I do believe a PC version of the game is available.
  8. Well, it does have a VN https://vndb.org/v21047
  9. That's like, all of them. I recommend this one (/ω\) Three lewd kyonyuus. What's not to love.
  10. Cherry Kiss is doing a survey, asking fans what games from their catalogue they'd like to see TLed next. For those out of the loop, Cherry Kiss is a fairly new startup company, with access to the entire Norn / Miel catalogue. (That's... a lot of games.) Link to the survey is here.
  11. It's quite a fun series. Well... I personally didn't really read it for the plot at all, and just for the "plot". (The "plot" is very good (/ω\)) I've read... ("read?" :P) vol 1-2 in Japanese already. Definitely cool seeing games like these that aren't pure vanilla being localized by Denpasoft. Hope they pick up more stuff like it.
  12. Happy birthday @Emi! Also, happy belated birthday to @Darklord Rooke and @Jun Inoue! (/ω\)
  13. It's pretty common to keep the game running in the background when translating, so you can check what's going on for context, be it voiced lines, CGs, what have you. I can't speak for other translators, but I'd never translate a game without having a copy of it at hand, in case I want to check something.
  14. This is a very chill server with lots of cool people. You should definitely check it out!
  15. Sorry, I should have clarified, I didn't claim he is the CEO, I meant to question Dovac's tweet, (the one being responded to in that link,) which made it sound like he is just another normal employee, which clearly is not the case.
  16. I mean, I understand where they are coming from. They have no control over the assets in the game, so they can't fix it. They just sell the game, but end up getting complaints left and right. So, obviously they feel some spite towards SP, who were ultimately at fault for this. They seem to be saying that they would never make a mistake like that, and if they did, they would fix it asap. (Of course, I have not bought much from Fakku in the past, so whether that is true or not, I have no idea.) As a new customer, though, I very much like what I see from them, so that's something. Also Hmm...
  17. I just got a refund for my copy. To me personally, this is a matter of principle. I have had bad experiences with Sekai Project in the past, but chose to buy this game either way, with the thought: "hopefully this one will be handled well, at least," much like Dovac himself. (See this) It sadly wasn't. People make mistakes, yes, and if this had been their first big mistake, I would have given them a chance to make up for it, but ... well, there is a reason why the document above has five different apologies, not just one. In addition, while I understand that to some people, a handful of censored CGs isn't that big of a deal, it is to me, and many others. I specifically paid for an adult version of the game, and the assets in the story itself are still all-ages. Not to mention, noticing this mistake is very easy. It took me a couple of minutes to notice it, and I wasn't actually looking for any issues when I did, I just stumbled across it. So, not only is this a mistake that should not happen, but it is a pretty big deal, all in all, despite "only being a handful of CGs." The game is literally not what I paid for. The TL being kind of awkward just puts the final nail in the coffin for me, and I chose to ask for a refund. That being said, people throwing around death threats and going on crazy witch hunts are being completely silly. (And it in fact just drowns out the actual proper complaints people have, so please, stop that stuff...) Fakku is being very helpful and understanding, which is good. People who are dissapointed can get refunds. Dovac's apology post is also a step in the right direction. I do hope that SP will improve moving forward, but I will personally not buy any more of their games until I see this happen. I gave them one more chance with Maitetsu, and it sadly did not go very well. Hopefully the issue gets fixed soon, for the people who chose not to get a refund, and patiently wait for the fix to be implemented.
  18. They have confirmed that it was indeed by accident. (I mean, they wouldn't leave the H-scenes intact, then start censoring some panties )
  19. Fakku gave a response on twitter, saying they are aware of the issue, and are trying to sort it out with their partners. (Fakku just sells the game, so SP is at fault for not supplying them with a proper 18+ build, it seems. Good work once again, SP.)
  20. I checked, and the bath scenes are covered up in my 18+ version as well. (And that's not the case in the JP verison.) Tweeted Fakku asking what's up with that.
  21. It's hard to edit your own work, as it's very easy to miss mistakes you made. Self editing can at best help kill some typos, but that's no better than simple proofreading, which is not at all what editing is about. For a VN this big, I strongly recommend you try to figure out a way to get an editor onboard. Self editing simply won't be enough.
  22. Yeah, that comment scares me a bit... It's also kind of silly that editing is considered as a stretch goal. Editing is something a translation must have, not something that could potentially be added through extra funding from fans... I hope they figure something out there. A game of this size going unedited will read very poorly, even if a brilliant translator handles it.
  23. Guess we'll have to wait and see what SP does with those scenes, lol. It will be interesting if they leave them in the game with partially covered nude lolis. Seeing as Maidens of Michael got taken off steam, something like that would get nuked from orbit in seconds by the steam crowd.
