Regarding MoeNovel and what can be done.
VirginSmasher replied to The White Cat's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Honestly, that will never change until localization companies stop relying on people randomly buying VNs on Steam to get their sales. Steam buyers are usually clueless about the quality anyways and usually, don't care about said quality after purchasing it. -

One reason. Money talks. If they keep making money, they'll keep up their shitty business practices. -
Hello. I relate to living in Canada, but I live in a shit part of it and want to move somewhere better here. Anyways, 1. It's MoeNovel. What did you expect? 2. No. 3. Yes if you have a decent list of VNs that will never be TLed and don't want to limit yourself to English releases. 3. 1. You can make money, but not good money. However, if you're passionate enough, I guess you can get by. 4. Himawari, Subahibi, Ever17, Fata Morgana, and G-Senjou no Maou should tide you over for a couple of months. That is all the wisdom I have to give to you today. Have fun here.

You can't do anything about companies like MoeNovel and SakuraGame. They'll keep making money off of clueless people who buy their shit products on Steam and it will continue like this unless the English VN Market crashes completely. -
Pretty shit list besides Chrono Box and Hikari no Apeiria. The only two interesting VNs on there.

Sorry. Don't think a medium that has the reputation of "Porn Games" attached to it will ever be capable of winning any Nobel awards.

Hello again. It's been quite a while since I was able to report a decent amount of progress. Here are the updates! Translation: Prologue - 100% (1791/1791) Branch School - 7% (408/5846) Edit Prologue - 46% (818/1791) Translation has started on the branch school as you can see, which is pretty nice. Other than that, we're still working hard to get that prologue patch out. Since our former TLC left last week, we are looking for a TLC for this project again. If you feel confident in your abilities, please PM me. That's all the progress I have for this week. I'll see you all soon with more progress.

Evenicle Release by Mangagamer (on June 28th)
VirginSmasher replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I just see this as another VN to delay the interesting VNs that MG still has. Was really hoping for DameKoi this month as well. -
Fortissimo FA to be "Translated" to English by SakuraGame

Things like this are why I'm studying Japanese this year in school. -
I'm gonna say that the golden age of VNs was from 2007-2012. That's when it looks like the most quality releases were coming out. For the West, the golden age is still ongoing from early 2016 to right now in comparison to Japan, where it's probably in its worst state in terms of releases and variety in years.

Nice bait post.

Back in the day, companies also had worse TLs overall. Whether that's because of buying TLs or their own staff is up for debate. Plus, quite a few SP releases have involved fan TL teams and weren't good quality as a result. I've definitely had a better experience overall with official TLs, but that definitely doesn't mean they're flawless. That being said, I still think official TLs > fan TLs on average.
