ef is pretty heavy if you're starting... Get something lighter, like Littlewitch's "Quartett" or "Period" (it's long). Or if you want somethig memorable, Katawa Shoujo. Also more recent catch-all titles like Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate and Noble Works.

Anyone dared to play the dreaded Panzermadels...? No warfare fans here?

Ever read a vn just for a certain seiyuu?
Okarin replied to mitchhamilton's topic in Visual Novel Talk
No, I put novels on the reading list if they look interesting. If it had my favourite VA but still didn't like it, then it would be a poor experience. -
Spot on... 3DS shits on DS' legacy. I managed to complete VLR and Tales of the Abyss... because a Tales game is always fine. Downright sold Etrian Odyssey IV and Persona Q... not my thing, not now. Not completed yet Bravely Default, Fire Emblem, Conception 2 and Rune Factory 4... mainly because of burnout. None of these games have hooked me for long enough. I think I should get shorter games from now on.

Sharin, so far, is the most overrated VN I've ever played. It's like if Katawa Shoujo, with all its hype, turned out to be hollow shit (which it doesn't, but it's a "what if" scenario). AKA a big letdown.

Pretty much like nuclear war... as seen in "War games"

Yeah... shouldn't you be asking for a good online Japanese dictionary? I'll present you with this... http://nihongo.monash.edu/cgi-bin/wwwjdic?1C

Machines don't understand human language, intonation, and innuendos, so anything processed by such a translator will sound alien. It's up to you to interpret what you get.

Kyouko is hands down the most boring girl in the game. Yuka is pretty easygoing on the outside, but suffers inside because of some factor. You have to rescue her from her misdeeds. If you get her bad end, it will surprise you, probably.
-
I don't know if it will fit, but it's pretty common setup. You get a boy that starts off as a moody, selfish and not-giving-a-shit jerk, then he falls in love with your chosen heroine and it's later described as "gentle" and "caring". Examples of this in run-of-the-mill eroge such as "Period" (a protagonist with some mood swings over the story) or "Yuki Zakura" (but that's generally bad). Also kinda implies that the heroines are won from minute 1, since what girl would be interested in an unlikable person such as that? Edit: sorry, you meant heroine, I'm talking about MC. Also check up the Yuka route from Crescendo, but that contains quite some drama. It's a story of redemption though.

Yeah Sepia Tears... I'll always recommend that one. You play over a week worth of events and the protagonists are very good, especially the girl. She really scored with me. ST is also available for Android.

You mean... this? http://store.steampowered.com/app/421670/

Yeah, I've followed the development of the game patiently. I know that the expected date was March, so I'm asking now because... it's March. Guess I'll just have to pick up Panzermadels and bash it to death. VOAB doesn't appear in the Steam "upcoming" list. Also I have a preference to play each novel on its season.
-
I saw this game on Steam's greenlit some time ago, and now I'd like to know what's the estimated release date. The dreaded "Panzermadels" is releasing within 2 days so I think this one is close too. I think that the author of VOAB is a member of this forum, so, how do you like it there's people hyped for your game? Probably an easy way to write decent OELVN is to follow a simple kinetic model, short in duration, as this one. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=445856818&searchtext=aurora+borealis

Full Metal Panic! is a great show, it's too sad I didn't get to watch it fully.
-
I'm in the anti-School Days club. Latter episodes are WTF. My records say I watched it on 2009, years prior to getting into VN world, and without knowledge about the work and its VN origins. But the conclusion of the story kinda disturbed me. Other people love it though.

Well I played one route of Rewrite, and it ruined the character for me. I was better off when I knew little of her. The route had interesting things but too many twists and by the end I was hoping for it to be over once and for all. You shouldn't spoil the Key ingredient, you should go play your Key game of choice and if you like it, then go try some other. Oh! No one mentioned that Key's humour can kill some people and it's not for everyone. Sometimes it's just cringeworthy.
-
"Key formula" is difficult to explain sans spoilers; but you play any game and it's sort of repeated through all of them. More different game could be Rewrite, which is also the most recent. But it does maintain the heavy fantasy elements, and I can't tell about the ending because I haven't finished it.
-
Only thing I can say, is that Key's novels come packed with heroines (usually 5 and up) and that it's very hard for any novel, Key or not, to keep quality and a diverse audience hooked for the entirety of the routes. Tl; dr you'll like some routes and probably dislike or be overly neutral to others. Also tropes apply, so it can't be helped that some characters score with you and others don't.
