  1. This will sound really vague, as in your case it's obvious the shit has already hit the fan, but. Everyone should take it easy and strongly avoid sources of stress. Dedicate time to things you enjoy and make you feel at ease and relax. No matter what they are (eroge are okay, by the way; it's the effect, not the source that's important). Exercise or go for walks in your free time if you're able to. Always keep yourself in good form mentally, morally and physically. Sometimes this won't be effective, that's why relaxation and meditation are in high demand today. Hopefully you can find some of this around your place, try it and see if it works. Even though it's hard to understand at first, the definitive method of bypassing pain, worry and so is to "live in the present": experience it, focus in your surroundings, your physical state, your breath, ambient sounds, etc, and clearing your mind of thoughts like "it's good/it's bad/I like it/I dislike it". Just focus on the sensations. To do this, however, you've got to develop your attention.
  2. To be honest, I found the sex much more interesting than all the low-key morals (objectively and subjectively). The drama was the worst part of it, the sex was just boring in the long run. I mean, when one approaches Wanko to Kurasou, he's much better expecting lots of sex, slice of life, and silly fun than expecting nakige-grade drama and feels.
  3. Supposedly Zero Time Dilemma (here in 2 weeks) will feature complete cutscene graphics. But they'll talk. A lot. And besides the novel part, there's the escape rooms that are basically puzzles. It won't be a typical novel but it won't reinvent the wheel.
  4. Dog Days was pretty bad. So was Wanko to Kurasou. But there's a small light of hope that someone focuses on dog girls or something and makes a good game. We have precedents like Kud and others.
  5. Well FMA is a blockbuster and those happen only once a year or even less; but you have your fair share of shounen, only that they all can't be good. D-Gray Man looks particularly interesting.
  6. Cheating is good for finishing bad games. It won't change the fact the game is bad, on the contrary, but it will let you race through it, see all there is to see, and wrap it up never to touch it again. If the game is good, you should abide by its rules -but only if you're entertained.
  7. It's quite uncommon to click the icon and it does nothing. I'd have to see carefully how your system differs from mine (that works). Under the assumption this is a recent installation, you should try to install regular components like DirectX, Visual C++ and generally other games alongside Koichoco. Koichoco is from 2010 (or VNDB says so), so it was designed for Windows 7. Also I strongly suggest to grab VirtualBox or some other virtualization software, throwing a virtual machine with an earlier Windows, and testing it. Another common trick is to take a look to Windows log (Windows has an application log for errors on programs) to see if it displays any useful information. Always keep your system updated, so if you've missed some updates, or even if running the first Windows 10 version, things can go awry. The latest version is called "1115" for November 2015. It's some work but if it fails, you'll feel an accomplishment if you make it run. Edit: Oh! another idea. Maybe your game was not functional. I remember downloading a version of Hoshimemo that couldn't even make it through the prologue. It was buggy as hell.
  8. Try running as administrator, reinstalling etc. It's hard to advise anything without any further info.
  9. Set your program locale to Japanese. If in another setting, it could cause the .exe to not run. Although the classic scenario is just seeing the code, giving an error and being unable to run.
  10. Seems like basic knowledge to me. I know those facts since long ago, only that I don't use them in everyday life so I've gotta think a little to recall them. But when asked about seasons, yes, that's the proper thing to say. Maybe the club will be more interesting later. Anyway you can just use the thread to discuss astronomy a la Hoshimemo.
  11. I'm using Windows 10 with Japanese locale and the game runs okay.
  12. I managed to finish this game and you should be able to, too.
  13. Nowhere to be found. Obsidian has major chances of screwing it up. They're a company that can hardly cope with the times, like Bioware. Going the way of the dodo soon.
  14. I dislike enforced playing order and locked routes, but sometimes it's necessary to structure how information is presented to the player.
  15. Wasn't Sharin crappy and pretentious? I really didn't like any characters in it.
  16. About #4, any market is unstable and particularly Nintendo could end up like Sega if they aren't careful with their new console (coming home March 2017), so imagine a much lesser market like VNs. In general, all console making companies are committing a lot of bad deeds recently. Like saving up the Zelda for the new console, thus killing away the Wii U. Or those 70 $ games for the PS4. Or the rumoured multipart remake of Final Fantasy VII for PS4.
  17. To confess and be cleansed?
  18. But Makoto is a tsundere done right. Her attitude is even justified by her backstory, and then leads to drama and feels. Most tsunderes are tsun just because, why not?
  19. Well, just for the record, I did finish A Profile, and dropped Sharin instead. It helps that A Profile is shorter and has a better flow. Like people said, it's not boring, it's just poor. But for some reason, I read on amused. On the other hand, I think I could use Sharin to cure insomnia. I never thought about it, but parallels can be traced between Kaine and Sepia. Although Kaine is a little fucked up. And Miou, good Heavens. A very fucked up character that I ended up not understanding at all, because she's so twisted and unrealistic. Overall all heroines were kinda WTF, and not good ones. Also I don't like the enforced playing order in any VN. You can read a little more here: http://sanfter-flugel.tumblr.com/post/129492836987/a-profile-eroge-review
  20. All cars wouldn't fail, only the modern crap equipped with electronics to the brim. I picture the police making patrols in old Ford models. The factories would, and that would be disaster. Also, how would you know everything failed worldwide? You'd have no communications outside your home town (which is worrying enough). There would be seemingly instant martial law. But fret not, because such a thing is impossible. Only possible if Sony acquires monopoly over electronics and delivers faulty equipment like the Playstation 4 Edit: Also radioactive contamination isn't "irreversible". The damn isotopes last for A LOT of time, but the land is recoverable in several hundreds of years (judging by the information I have on Chernobyl affair). Another matter is that we could wait for that long. About the isotopes, funny thing is there's a balance: the most harmful ones are the most short-lived ones, by the very nature of radioactive material: the more energetic they are, the more unstable they are.
  21. I like the concept of banging her as a way to shut her up. In some cases, even that isn't enough (ef's Kei Shindou).
  22. Because I want to openly discuss the novel for anyone who wants to participate in the thread. In this way, people who are considering reading it will have a backup (with no spoilers hopefully). I asked Vorathiel specifically since I saw that he finished the game recently, and can talk with recent memory of it. The game was translated some years ago.
  23. Saw on his sig that Vorathiel recently finished "A Profile" (Akabei Soft, perpetrators of the renowned but terrible "Sharin no Kuni"). I'd like to know his thoughts on this one, because I found it terrible, on par with the beloved "Yume Miru Kusuri", only that I received no porn.
  24. Right, but I suspect girls like Audrey do exist, at least having that attitude for certain people (this I can confirm, tsunderes are a thing). Real girls like Chinami, on the other hand... I don't know, maybe in Japan.
