  1. Fortunately, I already have a santa-hat type of this. I'm a bit curious about the details of this - do you mean a physical copy of the Japanese release or the Sekai Project version coming out next year? Furthermore, can the winner choose between physical or maybe the digital versions, as some people (myself included) might feel more comfortable with a digital one as opposed to physical?
  2. What about the ones you thought were guys that were actually girls?
  3. It's a figure of speech, but I feel like it conveys the emotion fairly well. Also, -I liked your old avatar better. W_W
  4. Sounds fair enough. I wonder if the dev team is asking them any questions for clarity's sake. I'm also mildly worried about whether or not being based on real people will limit creative freedom. If it's a VN-style game we're used to like we've been assuming, as opposed to a straight-up dating sim, it'll be difficult to still take the plot and character development in interesting directions without hampering the image or accuracy of the real people. That said, good luck to them.
  5. I felt that way after completing some of Rewrite (Can't remember which route it was exactly - Kotori was first but I took an extended break after that) but eventually I powered on through and finished it. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, it just means the writers are doing their job. But the feeling only lasts a week or two at most, and if it left that strong of an impression you're likely to finish the game eventually. I'm more likely to stop playing after a single route because the game managed to lose it's source of power, or if the path to the next route felt too convoluted (Ex. Comyu, where it would auto-skip past the new scenes and severely hampered my enjoyment.) It's a bit vague, but I suppose I am that type, at least in exceptionally good VNs.
  6. -Battler overtook Ryoji as my favorite male character a while back, yet I still haven't changed my avatar. -I consider myself a mild lolicon, not because of any huge preference for them over the average, moderately sized type, but rather because the watermelon breasts MILF category makes me want to gouge my eyes out. I can't tell whether this inhibits social relations with Fuwa's main lolicon party. -Despite what everyone says about them, Fate/Stay Night contains the only H-scenes thus far to not make me want to gouge my eyes out. (Fate route's were standard fare but after that they got much less painful.) Special mention goes to Tonya's first scene in Ayakashibito, which was standard fare until Shuugen came along and did spoilers. -99% of all hentai videos I've seen have made me want to gouge my eyes out, I think I would like ecchi better but I'm not good enough at talking to ask anyone for recommendations straight-out. -I feel like I'm going to have to show my 'collection' to a significant other at some point, but if they're not a fellow gamer it might be too large and it'll make their computer implode :< -When browsing for pictures to add to the collection, often Firefox will crash before I'm able to save all the tabs I've opened. It's happened so often now that I get nightmares about all the unsaved lolis females. Right now I have a little under 230 unsaved pictures in a private window. -The above statement is a half-truth. I'll let you decide which parts are false.
  7. In all honesty, I'm curious as to whether or not the actual group of youtubers is on board with this. Of course, they might not be making it, but the questions and 'seal of approval' might actually help this get better. Not sure I'll play it myself, but more quality and resources is always a good thing. (Also, what does Asagao mean in the context of the game? My limited knowledge translates it as 'Morning Wolf' but I'm not sure if that's what's being intended.)
  8. Frankly, I'd wait a few years before trying it, either until someone puts a fan re-translation out to merge with the restoration patch, or until MoeNovel puts out an 'un-uncensor' (Basically everything that wasn't a straight-up H scene, as I'm okay with those removed) that also fixes all the translation errors. Truth be told I'm a bit curious on whether or not the original Japanese version was any good, but I suppose that can wait. If you're looking for a different VN to buy on Steam, Cho Dengeki Stryker is by far the best one yet, at least until Mangagamer releases Higurashi, and Sekai gets Grisaia/Clannad up. After that there's going to be some contention. But yeah, I'd wait til later on If My Heart Had Wings. Maybe we'll get a patch a long time from now, but we have plenty to read until then.
  9. Cross Channel's protagonist is effectively 'as perverted as a man can get while still being morally correct.' At least in my opinion. Fate/Stay Night is probably the most well-known classic, and it's quite good for someone getting into the VN world. Clannad would be the suggestion for a fresh one looking for something less action more romance-y, but with the official release coming along soon (Late October 2015) the download isn't on Fuwa anymore. My personal favorite would have to be Umineko No Naku Koro Ni, but I'm not sure how it would look to someone new (Though it was the first VN I finished aside from Ace Attorney and 999, I can't say whether other fresh ones would see it the same way.) There's quite a few more of course, but those are the ones that pop to mind first. After that, I'd reccomend looking into G-Senjou no Maou, Ayakashibito and Comyu. They're all fairly high-quality and the translation seems to be well done, even if they aren't as well known as some of the larger ones. (Though Comyu has way too many sex scenes and I think the protagonist is a cheating bastard ><) Haven't finished them fully myself, but people have said a lot of good things about them.
  10. I've been considering reading something Clannad-like, so if I haven't finished the subject VN already I might join up, though no promises. I'd also rather it be up on Fuwa, as I'm somewhat disinterested in getting one from elsewhere (Aside from Steam, but the selection there doesn't really compare.)
  11. *poke* Awaiting completion like everyone else, though probably not as much as some other people. What's left to translate after Miyako route, aside from sequels/different games in the franchise? Will that mean the whole game is effectively 'done' or is there still something more to do? I'd rather start playing when the whole thing is completed, but I haven't been able to find a full clarification on this. Also, my regards to those working on this - you seem to be doing an amazing job, and I can't wait to see the fruits of your effort.
  12. Just checked, it seems like he hasn't been on in a while. About one to two weeks to be precise. I don't remember anything about Nasu's works being taken off Fuwa (As none of them have been slated for an official release, unlike Grisaia and Clannad which started off the whole project) so I don't see why they wouldn't be put up personally, but it's always good to make sure. Is there anyone else in the upload department who can explain the situation?
  13. I've been watching EC for a while now. Quite the friendly bunch, and they have a ton of information. Still waiting for that VN episode :<
  14. Persona series for sure. 3 and 4 are on the PSN, if you don't mind missing out on the extra content from the PSP/Vita ports. Persona Q comes out in a few days for the 3DS, but you'd be better off playing that one after you beat 3 and 4. 3 and 4 are only 10$ each from what I remember, and Q is probably a full release.
  15. Filled mine out, can't wait to see the results~
  16. 1. Ushiromiya Battler (Umineko) 2. Ryoji Mochizuki (Persona 3) 3. Tie between Kisaragi Soushichi (Ayakashibito) and Sakutarou (Umineko) There are a lot of characters I'm fond of, but those are the first ones that come to mind.
  17. Recently got back into using TF - feels nice to return to my comfort zone after trying other stuff for so long. Also, I'm surprised I'm not on the OP list, this sounds like something I'd have posted in long ago o_O Server - NA Zodai on both forum and in-game.
  18. In all honesty, usually single-heroine means linear in some fashion. My instinct tells me to go ahead and suggest Umineko No Naku Koro Ni, while it isn't primarially a romance, it's one of the best out there and it's certainly linear enough to avoid the issue stated earlier. Aside from that, my instinct also says to go Clannad - while it does have multiple heroines, there is a 'true route' so the final choice is already made. Fuwa's version has been taken down in anticipation for the official release (Though that's estimated to be at least a year away, with the full re-translation and whatnot.) but if you can't wait there's probably another place to find it. In terms of more romance-based, I've played through the first chapter of Sekien No Inganock, and it seems to be linear with a single heroine, though it isn't a pure romance it's still closer than Umineko. That said I haven't completed it and can't give a full reccomendation based on what I know. That's what I've got. Good luck~
  19. Usually buy digital copies on steam, or maybe something on the PS3 if a PC version doesn't exist. Truth be told I'm not very comfortable buying digital releases outside of Steam, so unless it's released there chances are I'll end up going the other route until such a release becomes available. Hard copies are a bit tougher to keep track of for me, and I don't have the necessary skills (nor spare money for import fees) to get from overseas. I'm totally willing to purchase when possible, but oftentimes there isn't a route to do so.
  20. Recently heard about the steam release. I've heard people liked it after MoeNovel's severe removals were...well, un-removed, so considering this has popped up again it seems kind of... I lost my track on that sentence. >< Anyway, is there any news on whether or not the steam release will change anything, at least in terms of removals? Truth be told Cho Dengeki Stryker didn't have any removals too noticeable aside from nudity and the main sec scenes, so it certainly seems like at least a bit of risque'ness is appropriate on the platform. Is there any news on pricing as well? Chances that Fuwanovel's patch (I seem to remember Fuwa being one of the main sources for it at least, though I can't say for sure) will work on the steam release as well?
  21. Ah, understood. I suppose I'll be skipping the first one, then.
  22. Don't feel like joining at the current time, but here are some resources and advice from someone's who's gone down this path before. Firstly, from a pure writer's perspective, here's some resources for understanding the basics. http://www.writingexcuses.com/ http://davidfarland.net/writing_tips/ Writing in and of itself isn't something that can be underestimated, and regardless of someone's particular philosophy, letting the writing get the short end of the stick, in any of its forms, won't bode well for the final product, and should be the highest priority regardless of previous experience. This isn't something that can be slacked on. Just as important, is the ability to work as a team and keep communication in check. No matter your talent as a writer, a VN is not a solitary work, and if your team is arguing or doesn't know what to do, then people aren't working as efficiently, and chances are the team will fall apart. Leadership skills are ABSOLUTELY VITAL for a project like this, and it's both one of the less obvious aspects of making a VN, and the place where people in the field are usually lacking, as the niche audience around it makes meeting our fellow folk outside the internet a near impossibility. If you absolutely can't get this done, you're probably better off with a traditional novel for a few years. Personal experience tells me those are the two most likely stumbling blocks, but there's a lot of smaller things to keep note of as well. Feel free to take inspiration from wherever you can, but make sure to put something original on top of it or mix two ideas together to keep it fresh. Be open to suggestions, both within and outside the development team, but you have no reason to feel obligated to implement something if it takes away from the priority goals. If you feel like you want some more advice, or if you feel like inviting me to the team personally, feel free to shoot me a PM - it's not entirely likely I'll say yes, but I could use the experience. Just be aware that my team skills are sub-par at best. They're something I need to improve on. I wish you luck, and hope to be seeing a product in the coming months.
  23. How inferior is the PC version as opposed to the PS3 one? Have the graphic improvements in the PS3 version mentioned in the thread ever been patched into PC? If the PS3 version didn't exist, would the PC one still be worth recommending, and how difficult will the second one be to understand if one has played the first on PC, but hasn't touched the PS3 version in any regard?
  24. So, having noticed the first one on Fuwa's site, and with the recent buzz about the sequel getting localized, I suppose I should inquire about this - the art style/gameplay reminds me of Disgaea to an extent, and as the consoles are currently outside of my bedroom, a PC SRPG of similar tastes may be useful. What's the gameplay like, is the first one localized as well (assuming not) is playing the first required to understand the second, is the second console-only or is it PC as well, etc etc. A general understanding of the quality in terms of the series as a whole would be useful as well. Thank you for your assistance. --Minor mental inconsistencies of whether this was VN enough to be posted in VN talk. Hopefully this will not be of too much concern.
  25. Actually, before this gets locked, could I get more information on this alternative release? What exactly are the differences and is one translated as opposed to the other? Mild confusion on my end, and I'd like to make sure this won't be an issue for me later.
