Have you checked Tay's install guide? If you haven't it's available here. What operative system are you running? Are you in japanese locale? Have you made exceptions in your antivirus for the .exe on the disc and your install directory?

I'm using w7 though. But if the permissions where the problem you'd probably have gotten them earlier anyway.

Just right click on the whole folder and choose take Ownership. As you say this shouldn't affect anything but it can't hurt to make sure.

I'm pretty sure he refers to the original Muv-Luv as Alternative only has one disc. You shouldn't need to use a second disk at all. It should be able to install Extra only. You shouldn't need to use the Unlimited disk until you're actually playing it.

EDIT:You're not running Rugp.exe to play the game are you? That's only the engine not the game itself. You're supposed to run マブラヴ11.exe -------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it works fine so I'll write down what I did. I'm not using the fuwa version (I torrented it before fuwanovel opened) but I checked the contents of the fuwa torrent and it seems to be the same. Okay mount MUVLUV_EXTRA.ccd and run setup.exe Choose install. You shouldn't need to fiddle with these. Choose directory. I used E:\Program (x86)\age\マブラヴ11 I don't know if installing it in another folder than マブラヴ11 can affect anything. Also I found out that my current antivirus hates muv-luv (was running another program when I installed it the last time) so make exceptions in your antivirus for BOTH the exe file on the disc (In my case it's F:\マブラヴ11.exe) and the directory you're installing it in (E:\Program (x86)\age\マブラヴ11 in my case) Otherwise your antivirus may delete files so it won't install correctly. It should install now. It might show an error message when it's done but ignore it. Run the english patch. Install the game and extras if you want them (i have always used therm so I don't know if ignoring them affects anything). Make sure this is the same directory you installed it in originally. Choose to run it. This should pop up. Let it be. Then the VN should start. But what about Unlimited? You can ignore Unlimited completly right now. Extra is playable by itself. Once you're done with Extra and start Unlimited it will ask for the disk. Install it then.

Also have you installed the english patch? Muv-Luv won't always run on windows 7 (The w7 edition does though) the english patch makes it work though.

Since you messed with your saves. Have you tried restarting the Moon route (Not loading a save file). You can also check the registry and make sure there are no faulty Rewrite entries left. Also check that you have permission to read/write in the whole folder.

I have installed it on a 64 bit windows 7 so it definitely works on that. I don't recall having any problems so the OS definitely isn't the issue. I didn't install unlimited until I had finished extra though.

It says something about not being able to find the data. You have to install extra before unlimited. Did you do that?

The upcoming If My Heart Had Wings (Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete) is censored and therefore completly all-age It looks kinda tear-jerking but I haven't read it so I don't know. Kira Kira has an all age release. Its mostly comedic but I have heard that some parts of it are very sad. There's also Higurashi which certainly has many tear-jerking parts though they're never the main draw. True Remembrance and D.C. I.F. might also fit but that's certainly pushing it. (The latter especially, I wouldn't ever cry to a Da Capo game, but there are people that do so).
