  1. Yeah, I'd have no hesitation what so ever.
  2. I hadn't looked at the topic on Hongfire in awhile. Didn't realize this was released. This + the new illusion game will make for an occupied weekend. /end pervy mode.
  3. Aaaah, hurts me to say this as a huge Pokemon fan, but 1) a persona. I think a Die for Me! would come in handy. Would you rather... 1) drown 2) burn to death
  4. Hope everyone had a decent Halloween:
  5. Those teeth unsettle me. Worst thing about that picture. So strange.
  6. I didn't mean to downplay the quality of any of the series I listed, just wanted to highlight that I haven't seen much beyond what you might consider staples and the big-name series of the medium.
  7. There shouldn't really need to be any amount of grinding. Just making your way up Tartarus should be sufficent to get you through all the boss encounters. Unless of course you're referring to climbing Tartarus as grinding. As for the social link thing, that'll be present in P4 as well. It's an important part of the narrative.
  8. Oh, boy. I don’t really watch anime so my unrefined taste and uncultured palate will be showing here. Cowboy Bebop – I love everything about this show. I could dote on every episode. One of the few anime I can rewatch. My favorite anime and one I don’t see ever be usurped. Baccano – Lots of style, lots of fun. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Beautiful looking and interesting. Love cyberpunk settings. FLCL – Simply saw this at the right time. Something about it just clicks with an adolescent mind. It’s all about growing up. Akira – Not only is it a good movie, but the entire technical process behind it is so interesting. Planetes – Really cool premise. Enjoyed it a lot. Spice and Wolf – Just recently actually watched the whole series. As a business student it really tickled my fancy. Fate/Zero – I’ve only played the VN and watched Fate/Zero, but just between the those two I feel comfortable in saying that it has some of the most tremendous world building I’ve seen. Plus, the whole concept is just cool. Neon Genesis Evangelion – Another one that clicked with me when I was younger. Read or Die: the series – I honestly don’t know why this came to mind. I guess murdering people with paper just captures my attention
  9. I have a (tinsy bit) related feeling. As someone who has only been here for just short of 2-months, it's a bit of a bummer to see a prolific and respected member feel this way. It can be somewhat disheartening to newly join a community and see this sort of perspective.
  10. As a little aside, Catch-22 is one of my favorite novels. To keep it on topic, here's one: The paradox of nihilism The lack of absolute truth or meaning is in itself an absolute truth or meaningful.
  11. 2) While I prefer cold weather, that is only because I like to bundle up and keep warm. So I'll probably go with always feeling hot. Would you rather... 1) Have 3 wishes and you can't wish for money 2) $5 million USD
  12. I don't personally mind what you do with my thoughts. After all, I posted them in a public forum.
  13. Are you saying that there's discord in that the community is spread too thin or that some of those undesirable attitudes and behaviors solidbatman alluded to is present in more than just the forum itself?
  14. Another mashup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVL8dba7GwY
  15. Always go C.
  16. 2) At least you have a chance to get out unscathed. Would you rather... 1) Not have sex with a goat, and have everyone think you had sex with a goat 2) Have sex with a goat, and have no one know.
  17. I think what a lot of it is going to come down to is semantics and personal interpretations of vague things like 'I' an what makes 'you you'. Personally speaking, I feel a very large disconnect between 23-year old me and 15-year old me. So much so that I'd even say that that the person I was during my adolescence is like a stranger or entirely different person. Depending on how you look at it, you could say a lot of individuals are born through a single person's life. Maybe 15-year old me is dead and I'm just borrowing the life experiences from him and learning from them, like reading a book written by someone else. This is a fun exercise to play with, though. I'd be interested to see any other scenarios you come up with.

    Hello!

Hey, happy to have you! What would you say is your favorite VN?
  19. Scenario A: I'm assuming we're to play this straight and not really factor in any sort of doubt or disbelief at the bizarre scenario and treatment. I'd sign, no question. I don't know why someone wouldn't otherwise, barring any skepitcism over the situation. Identity is very important. It helps us interpret the world and colors how we respond to things. It's where we start when we look to create meaning in the things around us. Memories are a pretty big part of identity. It'd be further motivation to sign the consent form. However, even if you didn't undergo the procedure I wouldn't say she's lost you. You wouldn't cease to exist to her, it would be weird to think you'd just disappear from her life or she from yours. As for the gf thing, doesn't really affect the motivation to sign I think. I might have lost the plot a bit. I think I understand what you're going for with the questions, but I don't get why I'd hesitate in the first place to regain our memories. If you woke up a blank slate, you really wouldn't have anything to lose by undergoing the procedure. You have no memories or sense of identity to lose by regaining your old ones. I wouldn't think it'd feel like you're borrowing a life, but rather simply getting back what was yours in the first place. So, going back to the very first part of the prompt, it again seems like a no-brainer to sign. Individuals aren't individuals solely because of their memories. If that was that was the case, you might say we're a new person every second or that the things we forget are killing us. I don't think in the scenario you proposed that I'd think of it as killing my old/new self or creating an entirely new 3rd person. Sorry if my thoughts are a bit disconjointed, pretty late here and I was just writing my thoughts as they came.
  20. Another GIF for Halloween:
  21. That's a sentiment I can empathize with in general. Obviously things change as communities grow and that can often leads to some disconnect and disillusionment within it. All the online communities I've grown up with eventually took a turn where I felt that the quality of discussion had diminished and that I was no longer in sync with the place. Dissonance from the old meeting the new is a pretty typical consequence in all areas of life, not just the online part. At the same time, I'm not so sure how reasonable that sort of position is. I always feel that I'm being a sort of hipster or that it's just reaction from feeling diminished by all the new members. I remember the very early years of reddit. It's a very different for place, for better AND worse. As far the quality of the forums, I obviously can't comment. I lurked around here a bit last year, but I only recently decided to join in on the discussion so I've only really been tapped into the mood of this place for a couple of months. That being said, I haven't really noticed anything I would call mean-spirited or blatently rude. I may be overlooking some things though or simply lack perspective on the matter. I certainly haven't seen anything I'd consider 4chan-esque. I may be misinterpreting what you mean by that, however.
