Looks pretty neat, I'll have to keep an eye on it. If only october wasn't going to be so hurtful to my wallet already. The early alpha testing looks like it'd be a nice treat.

From a narrative point of view, they’re not necessary. Sometimes they even end up detracting from the story and cheapen it. They are often out-of character, out-of the moment, or just flatly end up cannibalizing good characterization and attaching it to all those annoying clichés present in like every H-scene ever. You know the ones. Ideally, if an H-scene could be removed and nothing in the story would be affected, it shouldn’t be there. I don’t mean two characters banging should be the reason the big bad gets defeated or resolve some central conflict, but it should end up being reflected in their relationship and offer character development, for good or worse. Most importantly to me, I want them to be contextually relevant and natural. From a marketing stand point, I couldn’t say. I’m not all-that knowledgeable about the eroge market. I get the impression that they’re a staple of the medium and a good marketing tool. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of sales were helped along by them just being in there. That being said, I’m more than a little of a pervert, so I’ve certainly found enjoyment in them. In fact, I'm mostly okay even if they don't add anything to the story, so long as they don't detract from it.

Thank you for sharing that, Nayleen. You must have been apprehensive about getting that personal and going into all that, but it was a very touching and I enjoyed reading it. It’s awesome to see how a small online community for a niche hobby can mean so much to someone. It’s no doubt a testament to all the great people here. I wish you all the best and I thank you for all the hard work you’ve put in.

I don’t know. The true Catherine end is fun, but I think I prefer the good Katherine end. I just felt like it was more in line with the Vincent’s character. I told my girlfriend at the time I found it so compelling because it focused on themes that typically don’t get a lot of treatment in videogames: infidelity and the fear of commitment. Plus, horror/romance is an interesting genre combination when you think about it and on top of that they threw pretty fun puzzle mechanics into the mix. Thaaaat's enough gushing.

Granted, but everytime you teleport you die and a copy of you takes the previous one's place. I wish I could read minds.

I haven't really actively watched AMVs in like 6 or 7 years, but I took this thread as an oppurtunity to dig up an old favorite of mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5mvu3U89KY

I started replaying Catherine tonight. One of my favorites.

That's a little difficult to pinpoint. I had dabbled here and there, but the first one that I consciously identified as being a “visual novel” and got me hungry for the medium as a whole was G-senjou no Maou. I was hooked from the get-go the moment i heard Air on G. So much so that after I completed it, I just had to immediately start Sharin no Kuni.

Noob needs help ASAP with Little Busters!

I'm not very technical, but I believe it bascially makes automatic flags in your system data as you clear content. Your save games are more or less something of a bookmark and all the stuff having to do with clear data and unlocking stuff is automatic. -

You simply need to start a new game. You can skip all the stuff you've already read. -
Started watching Spice and Wolf tonight. I had previously seen like the first 5 or so episodes of season 1 a few years ago. Don't remember why I stopped watching it, probably just got caught up in other stuff at the time. A cute wolf-goddess and finance, a compelling mixture.

I'm not familar with this issue, so I took a poke around google to maybe hopefully help find a solution. There was a couple of people who had the same problem patching over FF9, but it wasn't really helpful. One said he fixed his problem by finding a "different copy." Are you trying to load the .bin or the .cue? Maybe try finding a different image of the game or use a different release of PPF-O-Matic? Good luck.
-
Are you having trouble getting PPF-O-Matic to work or are you saying you don't see the option to load the patch file and apply it in the progam?

That's true, it is the more recognizable title. The thing is drawing in the people who don't know about the anime or even those who are indifferent to anime in general. That might not be who they're targeting, though. Either way, I hope it does decently enough and it doesn't dissuade any future attempts. I'll most likely buy it to support it.

I'm partly glad, but to reiterate a common opinion here, I really wish they put forward something with more commercial appeal. It just doesn't seem like something that would be met with much success, though they may have their own reasons. They may have just been half-heartedly testing the platform. They know their business better than I do. I can imagine the steam community's general response to the game.
