Finally here, Himawari -The Sunflower- released
Nandemonai replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
It doesn't follow that it's not a typo. If nobody thought to double check that the figure was correct, then the editors could have checked that it was the same figure in both places, and as long as it was the same, the mistake slips through. -
I don't suppose I can argue with that. Hadn't really realized the original English creator community had gotten big enough to have its own slang. At least I haven't started demanding that people get off my lawn (damn whupper-snappers) yet.
-
Seems to me the community's already settled on OELVN. Can we please not have more than one acronym for this? It will be a lot less confusing this way.

You've never read books that had co-authors? The Long Earth, for instance, is great. The Expanse series is also great, and that's another team of co-authors.

Visual novels with a mostly adult-looking cast
Nandemonai replied to Funyarinpa's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Oh, the 15+ version (with all the h-scenes replaced) was the one released that got translated. Why, I don't know. -
If you had to push buttons to advance the pages, probably. If it autoplayed, then you'd basically be using RPGMaker as a video player, so no.
-
I dunno, if Gone Home and Her Story are games, then so are VNs. To me, "video game" means the following: A computer program That is not a video or music player Providing a single focused experience Primarily (usually entirely) to entertain, or tell a story to, people running it And really, 2) and 3) are only necessary to keep smart alecks from claiming that VLC or Steam (the client itself) are video games.

Visual novels with a mostly adult-looking cast

They were translated by the guys behind Erogeshop.com. No, for real. This was back when they were calling themselves Himeyasoft, and for a few years, they translated a bunch of C's Ware games. As with most games translated in the late 90s (Desire is from 1999, apparently) the translations leave much to be desired. -
Uh... yeah, Brain, but where are we going to find rubber pants our size?
-
What the hell, I'll just go ahead and spoilerify the whole thing.

Nocturnal Illusion Renewal Translation Project
Nandemonai replied to Nandemonai's topic in Translation Projects
Alright, I see it's been basically six weeks since the last update. That's no good. No additional progress to report; school started back up again for my editor, and he's been crazy swamped. Don't worry, The Winds of Winter is still coming guys, I swear! -
Planetes is an awesome manga, but the anime pales in comparison; to the point I couldn't even sit through a couple episodes of it. It's a very short manga that got drawn out to a full 2-cour show, and the added content is not nearly as good. Love Hina I didn't much care for either, since the girls are entirely too willing to be homicidally violent over things they know aren't the main guy's fault. Instead of Love Hina, I'd recommend going back to the progenitor of the whole harem genre: Tenchi Muyo - the first 2 sets of OVAs are great, and the first TV show is pretty good too. Also, I second Stand Alone Complex; season 1 is excellent, season 2 is ... still good, but not as good. Never seen any of the others @ittaku mentioned, but My Hime and Kaleido Star are both on my list of shows I want to check out one day.

Happy Lesson is not worth it. Saber Marionette J ... I saw ages ago, and at the time I thought it was worth it but I don't know how I think it would hold up if I tried watching it today. Old anime that are really awesome, in no particular order: Evangelion, Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, Fruits Basket, Princess Tutu, Kanon (2006), the first two seasons of Kenshin, Full Metal Panic, Kino's Journey, Haibane Renmei, Dragon Half, Koi Kaze, Akazukin Cha Cha (no, really, it's hilarious), Crest of the Stars (and the Banner of the Stars sequels), and Spice and Wolf.

I haven't seen anyone mention Soul Link yet. Unfortunately, if you don't already have a copy of it, good luck getting one. Sure doesn't seem too likely that Navel will get back with MangaGamer anytime soon, and I don't think Soul Link would be a title they'd try to re-release (given that it apparently didn't go over so well the first time).

I do not consider Euphoria to be a nukige. There's too much story. It's very close to being one, but I don't think it quite makes it all the way over the line. Your mileage may vary on how good the story actually is - I personally feel like it seems like two stories awkwardly grafted together, and I feel like one of those stories doesn't have enough screentime - but there definitely is a good one there. Just be warned, the h-scenes are rather extreme (to the point I ctrl-skipped every single one).

Three new console vn localizations leaked by the german retailer
Nandemonai replied to novurdim's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Yes, I meant the fan patch. Specifically, I have heard that the translation was not very good; I consider the translations of Steins;Gate and S;G0 to be true excellence, some of the best work I've ever seen. If the same company that put out the Playstation versions of those two games is involved, I am stoked. -

Nandemonai replied to novurdim's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Ooohh, YU-NO. If it's being translated by the same people who did S;G and S;G0 then I'm totally on board. I hear good things about the game but not so much about the fannotation. -
Root letter apparently sold 200k copies
Nandemonai replied to WinterfuryZX's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I chose to buy the Vita version of Steins;Gate 0 for two main reasons. One, it was about twenty bucks cheaper (if I recall right). And two, I can use the Vita at work. Mostly that means when I'm in the lunchroom. But it also means the, uh, restroom. So I chose to get the technically inferior version even though I have a PS4. -
Non-Human Girls? XERO's Next Visual Novel Questionnaire!
Nandemonai replied to Vaelore's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Are you forgetting Suu? And Mero? And - you know what, just buy the license to Monster Musume. As for the survey, I figured I'll just dump mine here: 1. What kind of non-human girls do you want to see in XERO's next Visual Novel? The less commonly-used ones are best. Look at Monster Musume; do more exotic ones like that. (Both in terms of species and how they act.) 2. What kind of non-human girls do you think are the MOST POPULAR? Catgirls. Exhibit A: Nekopara. 3. What is your LEAST FAVORITE kind of non-human girl? Ones that look or act too much like normal humans wearing a funny costume. Especially those whose entire character is cribbed from the cliche lists. -
Well, there was that one time they "announced" Imouto Paradise by posting a sliver of the cover in a teaser, not expecting anyone could figure it out. At the time, Moonstone was a new partner. I don't think that holds much water anyway, since all we know is that at least six secret projects have progressed past the negotiation phase to the point work has started on them. That doesn't say anything one way or another about what it is. Personally, I'd bet on yuri and/or Liarsoft. Kindred Spirits did well enough the manga got licensed! (Seven Seas explicitly referenced MangaGamer's release in their announcement, it's probably safe to assume they're related.)
-
He's already TL'ing Maggot Baits. He probably did take a bit of a vacation, but MangaGamer is a business, not a fan TL group. They can't just stop. Fata Morgana's fandisk has obviously been put on the back burner. It's hardly moved in months. As for Del Segno, they must have been working on it before it was announced. (Just like they've already completely translated and edited one of their secret projects.)
-
I, uh, doubt that will be a problem. Has 5pb ever released an adult game? I'm pretty sure they haven't. And even if they have, I have a very (very) hard time believing a legit licensed game out of a big property like this would be turned into an h-game. It just doesn't happen.
-
It's currently knocked Rance off the #1 perch. That's a good sign. I also want to see huge games from MangaGamer, like more Koihime. In fact, wanting to play SKM is the main reason I started helping out on the project in the first place. At the same time, I find it very hard to even think about buying Da Capo 3. I picked up Da Capo 2 to see if it was better than the steaming hot garbage that was Da Capo 1, but haven't been able to make myself even install it. I'm certainly not picking up DC3RX until I get decently far into DC2.

I can tell you for a fact that is not true. I own several VNs on Steam, and I have got no such coupon. I also don't own IMHHW, which lends support to that theory.
