Oh Sono Hanabira isn't bad, it's just made for something other than story. It really depends on how much you can tolerate absolutely mediocre slice-of-life. I can tolerate it, so the first two games weren't too bad for me, and then I was completely blown away by Alternative.

Air, Deardrops, Deus Machina, Enzai, Hatoful Boyfriend, Katahane, Little Busters, Snow Sakura, and Wind are the walkthroughs that still have "Attributation" instead of "Attribution", if anyone wants to edit them. I still can't believe I didn't notice it...

That's a nice list, even if a lot of it is Sono Hanabira. But you're missing a lot of great VNs: Ever17 and Steins;Gate are must-reads, if you like Key stuff (Little Busters and Rewrite) you should try their other VNs: Clannad, Kanon, Air and Planetarian; Symphonic Rain is similar to Key stuff, but is not made by them. If you want something short try True Remembrance or Saya no Uta, although the latter isn't everyone's cup of tea. Finally if you want some mystery, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Umineko no Naku Koro ni are great. A lot of this stuff doesn't have H-scenes though, with the exception of Kanon, Air and Saya no Uta, but skipping them for that reason would be silly in my opinion. Edit: Oh, and how could I forget the Muv-Luv trilogy. It has both H-scenes and a great story once Alternative starts. Extra and Unlimited are worse but generally considered required to get the full experience from Alternative.

I had my hopes up until about halfway through the first season, at which point I realized that having any kind of high hopes for this adaptation would be silly. I still watch it because it's not too bad, but comparing it to the VN is an exercise in futility.

I remember reading somewhere about an idea for a game where you play someone who can become invisible. The catch being that people can still hear you/feel you and will be incredibly alarmed if something starts moving on its own, even if they didn't see it (like for example they know they always put the remote in one place, and now it's in another place). I also recall things like if your objective is in some sort of guarded facility, you could get people to call the guards multiple times when they hear something, and end up having the guards ignore them because of all the false alarms, and then you'd have free reign. Sadly I don't think this idea lends itself well to game development.

I'm bad at ordering stuff, so in no particular order, some number of the best characters I can think of. 1. Kudryavka Noumi (Little Busters!), because she is best girl 2. Ushiromiya Battler (Umineko) 3. Falsita Fawcett (Symphonic Rain) 4. Saya (Saya no Uta) 5. Okabe Rintarou aka Hououin Kyouma (Steins;Gate) 6. Lyra Belaqua (His Dark Materials) 7. Jeffrey Lebowski (The Big Lebowski)

In addition to what Kanpachi mentioned: Steins;Gate, Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative, Air, Planetarian, Higurashi and Umineko, Da Capo 1 and 2. More or less in that order. All of them have romance, although it isn't as pronounced in Steins;Gate, Higurashi and Umineko.

Flutterz is the only one I've been using much as of late. The story of how I came up with it is that I was on an MLP IRC with Fluttershy as my nickname, but whenever someone mentioned her it would ping me, so I changed it to Flutters but because of the way the browser client work, it still continued to ping me, so I just changed it to Flutterz. I don't really have any irl nicknames because my name is short and doesn't lend itself well to nicknames.
