  1. Yeah, that's why I "liked" maef's post (back on page 1) -- you've got a good point. The problem is that the Gravity Green theme ("The best theme in the world"©) uses those hooks a lot differently than does FuwaFabulous, so functionality/redundancy is difficult to balance. I'm all ears for more suggestions, but for the immediate future I'll put those links back up for you guys. Also... I think you forgot the part about how it steals candy from babies and owns slaves : P. Is it really that bad for you? Any suggestions for improving it?

Man. I know I keep mentioning it, but I just can't handle your avatar! So creepy. And I almost never get creeped out : P

      Tay

I don't have enough XP for this, then. Guess I gotta go farm some XP (I hear Batman hunting is XP-rich).

Good luck man. It's tough to achieve. I've only saw it because I was lucky one time.

This Tay character is out of control. Who in their right mind would read all of that? It's almost as if he's got something to hide within... the... massive slabs of text... ... fufufufufu.....
  4. What if I told you they aren't gone, never were gone, and never will be gone... just... moved...? fufufufufu I will make the psd available for anyone's tinkering : P FYI: sidebar is 250px Link: All in one row PSD Link: Four boxes PSD
  5. Okay... stable stopping point. Thoughts?
  6. Should be fixed forevermore.
  7. Yes, everyone, I know that there is redundancy between these quick-links, and the forums software links. We'll delete the redundancy once we're happy with a quicklinks solution on the index sidebar. RE: Nosebleed -- It uploaded the wrong version of that first block. Fix should be in just a sec.
  8. Changed to a small variant. Both options shown in first post for comparison. I much, much, much prefer the 1-row variant.
  9. They feel a little big and clunky for my taste, too. Maybe we should try having them all in a single row...
  10. Well, if we can do the quick-links right, then yes, we can start messing with the top bar again.
  11. As promised, yet more chaos has descended upon the Fuwa Forums index sidebar. This time in the form of quick-link images. Option 1 - Large Boxes Option 2 - Small Boxes I'm interested in criticism, praise, alternates, etc. We're already in this deep, I'm not afraid of doing some science : P
  12. Woah. Emi. Your avatar is profoundly creepy.
  13. Could you post screenshots?
  14. Quality of your game assets blew me away as I played the demo. Smooth writing. Color me impressed, sir. (But not surprised : ))
  15. I've been dealing with anxiety for a long time, and early this morning I had an inexplicable drive to write about some useful tools and concepts which have helped me manage and cope. I don't really have a purpose beyond putting these concepts to paper, but if anyone finds them useful, I'll be doubly glad. (Some parts of this post were taken from an earlier post I made sometime last year) Lastly, if you experience anxiety or depression, I can't recommend enough talking to a doctor. There are quick (~4 mins), effective screenings available to help you better gauge what tools are available to help you in case you need/want them. Cartesian Dualism vs. Neuroscience There's this thing called "Cartesian Dualism", which is better known as the mind/body separation hypothesis, which Western cultures have believed for a long time. The short version: your mind and body are separate from each other. It leads to a lot of misunderstandings and incorrect armchair psychology, and in recent years we've learned that it just isn't true at all. The recent research has shown that the mind and body are very much connected in a single system, and they can influence one another. There are two divisions of your autonomic nervous system (the part of your nervous system which doesn't control voluntary muscle): the sympathetic nervous system ("fight or flight"), and the parasympathetic nervous steam ("rest"). When the body is stressed (whether that be an impending exam, or a tiger chasing you), your sympathetic nervous system overpowers the parasympathetic, and you go into "fight or flight" mode. Your parasympathetic nervous system is what kicks in when you’re relaxing, or just finished a meal, or giggling on the couch as you read Fate/tay Night. It shunts blood to the gut and body core, dramatically lowers the levels of stress hormones/chemicals in circulation, and it makes you feel at rest. Think of these two systems as a teeter-totter: if one is engaged, the other is dampened. Anxiety and the Sympathetic Nervous System Have you ever been totally stressed out and somebody tells you, “Just calm down!”? I'm pretty sure it's never, ever worked. Why? Well, largely because you've got a sympathetic overload going on: you've activated responses which are near-identical to what you'd feel being chased by a tiger. That's one of the ways we understand anxiety today: a big sympathetic response. Why Cartesian Dualism can go to hell When you've got a sympathetic overload going on -- aka, you're feeling extremely anxious -- it's extremely difficult to mentally will your way out of it. There's a reason for that: your brain has labeled your exam, or your job, or [enter your stressor] as a metaphorical "tiger", and just like if a tiger was actually chasing you, you better believe your brain's more interested in you being freaked out and highly anxious so you'll escape the tiger and survive, than it is about your emotional well-being. That's why Cartesian Dualism sucks: it says that since the anxiety is mental, you need to deal with it with mental willpower/fortitude. Here are the two good pieces of news: Your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems work like a teeter-totter: if one is engaged, the other is dampened You can use your body to activate either one (and in so doing, dampen the other) If you start to breathe fast and clench your fists or exercise, your body's reaction will be to activate your sympathetic NS. But, useful to us, you can also do the opposite: even when your brain is super anxious, you can use your body to activate that parasympathetic NS and force the whole system -- mind and body -- to calm down. Stuff that has helped me build "Parasympathetic Tone" (also known as "Vagal Tone") The more you consciously use your parasympathetic NS to overcome sympathetic (anxious) responses, the better you'll get at it. That's sometimes called "parasympathetic" or "Vagus" tone -- it's a play on words referring to how your muscle tone (strength) gets bigger and stronger with practice. Here are a few resources which have helped me: The most effective thing I've been using lately are these free, guided meditation exercises from UCLA (link). The 5 minute one is my favorite (it's quick and really good). The 20-minute complete meditation is pretty strong potion, so to speak, and I'll use it if things get really bad Herbert Bensen M.D. and many teams in universities across the US and UK have studied/been studying meditation and they've been able to distill the reproducible core of transcendental meditation. If you'd like to try "real meditation" without any of the spiritual or doctrinal overtones from gurus or religions, I'll post the results down below (it's actually pretty wild that thousands of years of meditation practice can be analyzed and reproduced on a single piece of paper) There's a really common stress reversal technique I'll post below. It's not my favorite, but a lot of the people and patients I work with swear by it UCLA Meditations: Link "The Relaxation Response" (reproducible, distilled practices of meditation) Stress Reversal Technique (all of this is stuff I've been learning in med school, but it's definitely not medical advice! There are lots of resources out there if you're dealing with anxiety. Don't let asinine cultural shaming stop you from talking to a doctor and learning more about yourself)
  16. < 3. It was merely an act of self-preservation ; P, & it would have made its way to you soon enough. Last night I was stranded in clinic with no cell charger and people began messaging me en masse (like that very same Rooke who liked your post : P) asking why I hadn't immediately fixed the format. It was either post to quell the increasingly outraged masses before their PMs/chat messages killed my battery, or stop watching You've Got Mail in-between patient visits. I chose the movie. Forgive me, Nay-sama.
  17. Welcome! Katawa Shoujo and Fate/HA? It's like we were destined to be friends : P What was your first and your favorite route in KS? You a big type-moon fan?
  18. Welcome! Loved your thread in the OP board and I'm very happy to see you decided to finally emerge from lurkdom and introduce yourself : ). Have a favorite VN?
  19. I'm getting an escalating number of Skype messages/Google hangout messages about the formatting of the blog feeds. I know it doesn't look very good, but my first priority was making it functional. Each of the blog feeds are broken down into "Blocks", and each block has the potential to get custom formatting. I just don't know what I'm doing in that department : P. When I click "custom template" it gives me the following code (which I think is just a bare-bones starter point), but it's a fully-editable input box and I can't help but think this is where we can set the blocks to use the theme styling.: <div class='general_box'> <h3>{$title}</h3> <ul class='hfeed'> <if test="is_array( $records ) && count( $records )"> {parse striping="feed_striping" classes="row1,row2 altrow"} <foreach loop="$records as $r"> <li class='hentry {parse striping="feed_striping"}'><a href='{$r['url']}' rel='bookmark' title='{$r['title']}'>{$r['title']}</a> <br /><span class='date'><abbr class="published" title="{parse expression="date( 'c', $r['date'] )"}">{parse date="$r['date']" format="short"}</abbr></span> <span class='desctext'>{IPSText::truncate( strip_tags($r['content']), 32 )}</span> </li> </foreach> </if> </ul> </div> <br /> I don't know if that means anything. Part of me thinks that what I need to do to fix the formatting is create a hook for each of the blocks. The rest of me thinks I'm in over my paygrade here and I'm up for any knowledgeable person's guidance : P.
  20. 1. Go here: http://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=core 2. Notification Options Those are the only options the software currently supports.
  21. Hear ye, hear ye -- In case you hadn't noticed, Fuwanovel has a blog app which includes two dev-exclusive blogs (Updates & Recruitment) to help you out. The idea is that you post in one of these blogs, and it's broadcast to all the sites in the Fuwa network. Project Updates Feed (blog link) (rss) -- this is for non-trivial updates like introductions when your project first joins the Fuwa Ongoing Projects board, demo releases, events, announcements, final releases etc. You should also be posting in your project thread (i.e. small or check-in updates shouldn't be posted here) Help Wanted/Recruitment Feed (blog link) (rss) -- to be used as necessary. You can re-post job openings once every 3 days if you've having trouble finding help These two blogs are being integrated into the forums index, the Fuwazette blog, and the Reviews Hub, but in order to post in them you have to get a special "Project Manager" permission set from an admin. One person from each project will have free posting rights to both blogs (you pick who it'll be). The Developer role will give you access to post on the Dev update feed. Permissions to Moderate your own thread (lock/hide etc.) brag with a badge To get blog posting access you should have a project on this OP board, then please PM Emi the following: Who you want to get the permissions and what their relationship is to the project (team lead, PR, etc.) The name of your project The url of your project thread in the fuwa forums After getting permissions: How to make and format a post: Click "Add Entry" on the blog page (Updates) (Recruitment) Write and format the post just as you would making a post on the forums We highly, highly suggest you use at least one image in your post for us to use in the Wordpress featured image function. PLEASE NOTE: The first image in the blog post will be its "featured image" (the image used to represent the post on the other Fuwa sites), so make sure it looks nice, is appropriate (no nudity, etc.), and is of decent size (preferably larger than 300x200px). ^ If you choose to include an image, please do everybody a favor and compress it before using it It may take up to an hour for the post to appear on all the Fuwa sites, but if a post isn't appearing in <=60 minutes, contact an admin I'm going to do my best to make this a useful tool for you guys, and please don't hesitate to get back to the staff or Emi with feedback/input.
  22. Sorry to intrude, just realized I never let you know that Helvetica has dev PM permissions. AKA: you have free posting access to the Project Updates and Help Wanted blogs. We're still implementing them onto the Fuwazette news blog and the reviews hub, but I've got big plans for them : P Updates Blog: http://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/blog/18-dev-boards-updates/ Help Wanted Blog: http://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/blog/21-project-recruitment/
  23. Thanks for writing this post! I just gave you Dev Project Manager permissions, so you have free posting access to the Project Updates and Help Wanted blogs. We're still implementing them onto the Fuwazette news blog and the reviews hub, but they should be a good tool if you'd like to use them. Let me know if you have any problems with the blogging system: Updates Blog: http://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/blog/18-dev-boards-updates/ Help Wanted Blog: http://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/blog/21-project-recruitment/
  24. You should be able to see all the available notification/email options from within your profile settings.
