  1. "Sharin.exe" is the correct file. I also use Windows 7 (x64), and after trying on both settings, I got the same, exact error you did (according to the screenshot) when I wasn't actually using Japanese non-unicode location. When I correctly set up Japanese location, it works great. So. Let's set your location: >Open the start menu >Type "Region Settings" (Open "Region Settings" which comes up) >On the "Administrative" tab is a "Language for Non-Unicode Programs" section. If yours says "English (United States)" or anything other than Japanese, change it to Japanese >Click button "Change system locale..." >Scroll down and select Japanese >Restart your computer. Then it should work. Please let us know if this fixes the problem.
  2. Awesome! Love VN projects : ) I'm actually funding my OWN VN right now... so funds are a little tight. I'll think about donating plasma or something, though, and pitching in : )
  3. I remember going through a similar customization myself. If I were you, I'd start with making sure you have the proper fonts you're selecting actually installed on your computer, and checking the english patch's INIs and config files to make sure the customization options aren't there. I'm not at home (where my version of FSN is installed), and am at the University until late on Mondays. I'll be happy to look into it tonight or, depending on the time/energy, tomorrow. This is a common complaint, though, so I'd imagine a simple google search "Fate/Stay Night customize font" will help you out.
  4. Our new member, Skeith, has posted an AMAZING walkthrough. Thank you so much for the hard work/time, and for helping out with the Great Walkthrough Quest! +788 XP +346 XP Bonus +100 XP Chain Bonus Oh, man. For those that missed it, Down just Down'd me with his sword of eternal justice. Then, to make matters worse, the post above (which I quoted just now) made me laugh out loud and further convince the people in the library around me that I'm crazy. Thanks a lot, Down. (lol, really, thanks!) +723 XP +345 XP Bonus
  5. I'll second the suggestion for Sharin no Kuni. It's a GREAT game. It's hosted on Fuwanovel, so it's an easy-download. When you're downloading it, make sure you get "Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo". That's the original game. One you've finished it, Fuwanovel also has the fandisk "Sharin no Kuni, Yuukyuu no Shounenshoujo", which has extra epilogue-esque content, and a bonus prequel story.
  6. I just finished Oreshura. I really enjoyed the characters and the character art. I think they could have been so much more if the show had better structure and more time. As it ended, I couldn't help but think that the problem was that the writers never decided what they wanted to do with the show, and ran out of time. It's a little disappointing. I gave it a 7/10. I know lots of people didn't like Oreshura at all, though. I need to surf the forums to read why.
  7. Normally I'd ask you to post according to the rules, but since this one looks simple I hope we can just get it out of the way: Open up your antivirus, go to "quarantine" and restore the file. The antivirus shouldn't take it after that. If this doesn't work, let us know! (If there's another problem, please post the info required in that linked-to thread) Thanks
  8. This was fantastic. Each episode I've been more and more impressed with your intuitive grasp of level design and gameplay additions. You've got a lot of skill. It's awesome! I like the . Fun design, and again, good characterization. Ugh. We need a really, really rich benefactor to just pay you enough to have you quit your job and just roll these puppies out ; ). Looking forward to the next one!
  9. Granted, but it measures 0.056e-9 meters^3. ; ) I wish I was so rich I could buy a small nation and move all Fuwanovel-ians to houses on it free of charge.
  10. That's the current plan, yes. Are you a Ren'Pyer?
  11. @eclipsezero<br style=font-size: 9pt;"> So I've said this to you before, but you've got a great mind for world creation. It's really cool. While, yes, it would be hard to make something like this on our budget, that doesn't mean it can't happen in the future : ) Epic, sir. Thank you! @Via This will definitely factor into our discussion. Thank you! @Zalor Well, sir, it was hard to just quote two paragraphs of that! Great idea. Reminded me of Gatsby before you even made the comment : ). This could make a great VN, but also a great novel. Have you ever considered writing it in that format?
  12. Have you tried the suggestions here? I can't see your screenshot very well, but I divined two things from what I could see: 1) close all torrents, check your antivirus, and make sure no files were quarantined 2) I think I spy a slash instead of a yen symbol in the error message. If you're in Japanese non-unicode location, your slashes will be yen symbols. Double check that your non-unicodelocation is Japanese, notjust language.
  13. Gosh darn it, people. Why do I have to like you so much? Why so many fun ideas? Okay, so, like I said, for THIS project (I hope there will be more! Please, more!), I have to stick with my guns and run it the way I know how. For now what's going to happen is: a handful of people will take these amazing ideas to a secret google-docs location where we'll mash them up and come up with a plot we're all excited and engaged with. Once we've got the plot, we'll bring it back here to Fuwanovel, post a teaser with some minimal plot info, and get feedback. If plot devices like "7 mysteries" make it in, and the writing team feels like it would be awesome, we'll open it up for more suggestions from this awesome community. Sound good? I'm so excited by these ideas, and the mashups we're already seeing in the secret google-docs headquarters.
  14. Well, that's a good idea, too. My writing experience is still pretty minimal - I've published some poetry and short stories, and have taught a few community classes on creative writing - so I'm going on the advice of others here. From what I've heard, most writers suggest giving a writing team some room to come up with/mash together ideas (especially ideas they don't outright love). Then the writers, having come up with a basic outline, can go to a community for feedback. Community-collaborative writing from start to finish is hard to do and takes a long time. If we want to produce other VNs that way, I'm all for it! But for this one, I think I'm going to try the process described above: take good ideas and a team, get some space, and merge and melt until one plot comes together. Criticism and thoughts welcome!
  15. Like a plot development thread? Not just for this project, obviously, but for writing in general? That could be awesome! (though, for people in the US, you need to be careful about how much you put online, else you risk losing some copyright bonuses)
  16. Hey everybody, thank you for the amazing contributions so far! The more the merrier! There's been some confusion about this topic, so I just wanted to spell this out as clearly as possible: I'm going to produce a short VN and would love to have people join me in the project. A VN needs writers, artists, musicians and programmers. This thread is for creative people to contribute plot ideas which, in a day or two, will be looked at and mashed together in different combinations, until we get a fantastic plot idea. At that point, I'll select a handful of people to join me on the writing team. Once the storyline is nailed down and the literal game dialogue is being scripted, I'll commission the art, purchase the rights to the music, and start coding. All of the above ideas are wonderful! It may end up that we use one as a base idea with modification, or we may divine a new plot from the creative processes of mashing them together. Note: This is -- I hope -- the first of many VN creation groups on Fuwanovel. If your story idea isn't used, it doesn't mean that it wasn't good: I have to balance playtime, money, and other plans in my head. If you really love your story idea, make it! EDIT: Re: Genres - Anything goes. : ) So long as the writing team is passionate, we'll be set. EDIT 02: I'm pretty handy when it comes to Ren'Py (the program I expect to use), but when it comes time to build the game, any help will be appreciated. If you have any thoughts/suggestions about the programming side, tho, I'm all ears.
  17. That's a good idea. I made my own thread for a game I'm going to produce, but there are a lot of ideas out there, and I can't pick them all, which means it's a good thing anybody can pick up and start writing a VN ; ). I hope everybody will keep posting about VN ideas, tho. I think it would be awesome if we could get some VN creation groups (plural!) going.
  18. It's great to have you! We're here to support you, so make sure you keep posting : ) Glad to see more Russian-learners here! I speak/write fluent Russian and would also love to help. With Russian, grammar is in a lot of ways more important than vocab, so when it comes time to start declining those words, learning how to do participles, or doing the more advanced stuff, I'd be happy to help (or point out good resources!). (I say it's more important than vocab because, when you're living in Russia, you find out that Russians are not very good at picking through your sentences and trying to figure out what you meant. It has to do with the fluid sentence structure, and the way their noun/adjectives decline.) And I'd love to Russian-it-up with you, too, Rackshen : )
  19. Okay, okay : ) You convinced me to post. Thanks for such awesome stuff, eclipse!
  20. The more the merrier! Now for the challenge: (Now, remember, as the producer I have to keep money in mind. Some of the limits are going to hurt, but they're necessary. I'm a poor medical student, and so I have to keep character art, music and a few other costs in mind as we go): I've written a story I think would work well for a short VN. But I want you to think of one, too. Once we have a handful, we're going to start flirting with combinations, etc., to see if we can come up with something really good. Limitations in your story suggestions: - Up to 5 characters with sprites (aka: five drawn characters) - Preferred limit of 2 outfits per character, though the more characters with only 1 outfit, the better - No H content. Sorry! - Shorter story length (flexible, but not too long) Can't wait to see what you come up with! I'll post my story idea tomorrow after class (need to pull it off my cloud storage), but please, I'm all ears : )
  21. Some of you remember my earlier, crazy attempts to drum up a team to produce a VN here on Fuwanovel. It was met with mixed success, and ultimately my contest was won buy a Russian guy in another forum. Well, here we go again . I'm producing a short Visual Novel from scratch, and am looking for a writing team to help me brainstorm the foundation of the story. For the initial volunteers, I'd like anybody with creative inklings who would be wiling to help me brainstorm to post below. The time commitment is flexible and you can stop whenever you'd like. Whoever wants to join in is welcome, so please post below if you're interested. Thanks!
  22. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaooooooooooowwwww! This is no mere game. This is the Leviathan! Okay. Yeah. Definitely a long-term project, but could be really awesome. Let's build a dream team, and go from there, huh?
  23. Holy flip, Eldin. That's both very interesting, and very huge. It's a game I'd love to play. The ambition in it, though, intimidates me. Six routes, lots of choices for each route (to make your really, really cool dynamic -dere transition systems), and lots of art. I'm buying the vision, but I'm worried it may be a little more than we can chew all at once. That said, it's still really awesome and should really be made. What do you say to the idea of seeing who else is up for making a VN, and we discuss it further? If nothing else, maybe we make a shorter, trial-run VN together to learn to ropes and build our skills, and then try something more ambitious? WHO ELSE WANTS TO MAKE A VN WITH US!?!?
  24. Voted yes! PS: We should be Steam friends.
  25. There've been some projects (lol, one even made by me) similar to this idea, but none so bold as to come out and say it. I, for one, like this idea and think we should do it. Who else is interested?
