  1. Sharin no Kuni, G-Senjou no Maou, Symphonic Rain, and ef are probably the best ones if you want a good story with lots of drama. Swan Song too, but the first four all rank pretty high on my list.
  2. The Sakino route in Mashiro Summer was pretty unbearable compared to the rest of the game. Whereas all the other girls had some supernatural issue that wasn't necessarily easily resolved, Amagi's only problem was" I was rich, now I have no money- until my parents randomly come back after hours of boring SOL and tell me I have to move away from the protag, who I've been living with for maybe a couple of weeks. All because I wished for my family to be closer!" It took me over a month to suck it up and finish her route because it was so tedious, and there wasn't even a payoff. At least the true route came straight after that and saved the game.
  3. I have to say, I'm really surprised that it's getting a hard copy in Japan first when it's not a Japanese VN... they get everything over there, don't they? Even the recent Planetarian English hard copy was released only in Japan.
  4. Honestly, unless 1. it's a character I really like, or 2. the scene is particularly attractive for whatever reason, I don't usually read the H-scenes unless I'm in the mood for them. In story-based VNs, they tend to break the flow of the story in most cases, so I don't always read them (unless I'm visiting the scene selection gallery after I unlock the scene, in which case it has my full attention ). Even when I do read them while reading the VN, I rarely read the whole scene, and tend to skip the text if the writing isn't very good. That said, if it's a nukige, then it would weird not to read the H-scenes (although I skip the ones with fetishes I don't really care for). Of course I read those.
  5. Well then. 23 points for me, I guess. I'll go all in; might as well.
  6. In terms of writing, I prefer that it be somewhere in the middle when it comes to how descriptive it is. So while, say, Air's scenes are an example of too little description, Eroge! from Clockup has so much (especially with the heroines constantly talking during sex, which is kind of a turn off) That it's not very enjoyable. Anything that's not at one of those extremes is fine, assuming that the art doesn't suck and the voice actresses aren't giving cringeworthy performances.
  7. Finally finished Mashiro Summer after over 2 months of sporadic reading. It was actually a decent game, save for one route, which was kind of awful. It's too bad not many people seem to have played it, because it actually had some unique ideas (at least, from what I could tell). I'm still plowing through Majikoi in terms of English VNs, but I plan to start Midori no Umi as my next Japanese VN tomorrow.
  8. Short answer: I drop it. Long answer: It depends. There are some anime: like Evangelion, actually- that I actually did feel like I should sit through, even though I wasn't really interested, simply because they were talked about so much that I was pretty left out of conversations if I didn't. But then there are shows like, say, Happy Lesson, that were so boring that I didn't feel the need to waste my time with them, and that I knew weren't really commonly discussed anyways. Honestly, I do think that everyone should at least give Evangelion a shot, even though I personally dislike it. It seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it thing, but who knows, maybe you'll end up loving it. Like others have said before me, it's really not all about the mecha.
  9. I didn't even make it through one route of this game before dropping it, so I commend you for getting through 5. I tried doing the little sister route, but I don't even think I made it to the drama, because the "comedy" was so boring. Not to mention how unattractive the art was. Yeah, I don't drop VNs very often, but this was a notable exception, and it looks like I made the right decision.
  10. So I was inspired by the recent topic filled with wham lines, and I realized just how many fantastic quotes there are in VNs that, without the proper context, are just... weird. A few examples from my collection: Ever17:
  11. I knew there was a reason I had a giant screenshot folder! Cross Channel:
  12. The only ones I've finished in one sitting were shorter ones (Saya no Uta and, most recently, Lonely Yuri, for example), but when I was reading Sharin, Chaos;Head and G-Senjou, I spent about 5-6 hours reading The last few chapters so I could finish them. I don't have a long enough attention span (or enough time) to do much more than that though, so it's gotta be really good for me to do that. Even one route in an average sized VN takes a few days for me if it's not interesting enough to grab my attention.
  13. I don't know, I think Sachi's ending was worth reading, as long as you enjoyed her and her route. It tied up some loose ends.
  14. Tales of Phantasia, for sure- it was my first RPG. I also played a LOT of Guitar Hero.
  15. Frankly, I preferred the exhibitionist girl in Aki Sora to any of the incest that happened in the series. Her chapters were more exciting.
  16. I might be a little closer to becoming a productive member of society. ...Just kidding, I would waste my time watching anime and playing non-VN games instead.
  17. I know what you're referring to, but it's still a game that revolves around an imouto. Even in light of certain plot twists, it still pretty much counts.
  18. Yep, it's true. The epilogue and a few lines here and there are all that changes. There are no real routes. Edit: And H scenes, I guess.
  19. There's always Kana ~Imouto~. 5 of the six endings revolved around the little sister.
