  1. 2016 > previous versions Don't bother even running the older versions. They are just outdated.
  2. Hey, at least they are starting young! Who knows what they might be up to in the next five or ten years
  3. Interesting and bold undertaking, but it takes a bit more than just passion and money to create something outstanding. Age has nothing to do with it and they probably have yet to experience it, to truly understand why people make these games. That aside, I wish them all the best.
  4. The issue with Rewrite is before that "grand" thing happens, you will die from boredom. Rewrite is Key's weakest work so far. As for F/SN, game in a nutshell: You probably need to change approach, if you want to see better stuff. That, or maybe the types of vn's you pick. Drop the popular stuff. Read the hidden gems and things people don't discuss on every single animay forum. What I can recommend right now, based on the feedback you left (no particular order): Cannonball - One of the greatest Space Opera vn's out there. Best main duo in the history of eroge and many memorable characters. Contains a ton of references to many classical sci-fi works and requires such knowledge to be fully understood and appreciated; quite a lot of sex scenes as well. Old school art style and quirks might not be to everyone's taste. Large portion of the vn relies on a racing game and choices made during that time have impact on the storyline; some people loved it, others hated. You've been warned. Along the Edge - Western vn about a young woman, trying to escape from her past. Plot changes massively along with the female protagonist - both appearance and personality-wise, based on the choices you make. Many different endings. Recommended. Dead End Junction - Wild west meets fantasy doujin vn, with a lot of travelling and adventures. Great, likeable cast of characters and engaging plot. Pray for Hizune to write a sequel. Sekien no Inganock - Fantasy steampunk with a captivating story. Magnificent world building and all round good prose, that borderlines on poetry at times. Interesting characters. Beautiful Soundtrack. Highly recommended. Shikkoku no Sharnoth - Another WAB series game by Hikaru Sakurai, as above. Might be even better than Inganock, especially if you like fictional London-based settings. One of the best female leads in history of eroge. Everlasting Summer - Also known as the russian "Katawa Shoujo". Part denpa, part russian sci-fi with heavy influences from 80's fiction. Interesting story, if you're willing to sit through the entire game. Great Soundtrack. Saya no Uta - One of the very best horror vn's, based on Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos. Ending the game will leave you speechless for quite a while. Demonbane - As above - More Cthulhu mythos, only with 300% more mecha. As with Cannonball, it's an oldschool game and might not be to everyone's tastes. Al Azif is <3 Those games have far less slice of life and typically focus much more on drama, action and adventure. I could add more, but titles I have in mind contain too much SoL to be taken into consideration (you need a break, otherwise you'll burnout). I'd also advise to stay away from goddamn long games and play more shorter ones; It's more healthy that way.
  5. I won't have to deal with this, because I'm not planning any children. You should do the same. They say stupidity multiplies with each next generation.
  6. To answer your question: neither. And no, you can't escape from SoL. Every vn has bits of it, to a lesser or bigger extent. I'd recommend changing tastes for a while, playing less shitty games might help.
  7. Supporting Moenovel is like paying to be able to suck a million dicks.
  8. I'd say she's most probably too young and inexperienced to see the gist of the problem. She probably doesn't see it the same way we do, including the possibility others might have been using her for their own benefit, while she just keeps drawing. Those statements are highly dubious to believe in from a freelancer's standpoint, because freelancing is underpaid nearly everywhere. The only exception is US, but you'll still earn much more, if you're a popular SNS artist open for private commissions, than a freelancer of a similar calibre, working for small companies / indie studios. You won't be able to survive on your own through freelancing for a single, small company in Europe - especially one like Winged Cloud and Spain... isn't currently the most wealthiest country, either. In fact, quite the contrary. It's just hard to believe in that post, unless someone's also directly providing for her daily necessities (bills, rent, housing, etc). Been there, done that. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. A stable contract is a lot better in nearly every single way. Depending on the place you live in, you get money, insurance, medical care and pay taxes like any normal, respecting citizen should. Anything else is either illegal work or plain refusal of your own future, as without discharged tax you're not earning for your pension. I'd be on the streets or living with my parents right now, if I'd continue small time freelancing in my country. It's NG, period. Europe is currently a bad place for artists in general, unless you make it to the top.
  9. There's literally no way to know, if this wasn't written by someone else, or whether she was forced to post this kind of response. Especially the last part of the statement; it's so hilariously awkward, I'd die from embarrassment myself if I had to post something like this on Twitter or any other social medium outlet. Eitherway, we'll probably never know. Maybe for the better. People should start to mind their own business.
  10. That's old stuff already. Some of those facts were already known long before that video was made, but people were too afraid to talk about it. I'm pretty sure Wanaca is being blackmailed, otherwise no sane artist with her kind of skill would ever allow to be chained like that. She deserves better. I just hope everyone will finally open their eyes and stop supporting Winged Cloud and it's shovelware.
  11. I seriously hope this is some kind of a sick joke. This rather sudden announcement made me go "wat", as I honestly can't believe Lose signed any sort of an agreement with Hikari Field. They are a highly respected studio and I really doubt they'd go to such lengths to actually publish their games on Steam, especially Monobeno. At one point, I breathed a sigh of relief, because there's no "english translation" available (yet), which might mean they are simply porting the new, all-ages version onto Steam. On the other hand - considering the fact Maitetsu has been licensed by SP, this leads me to believe Hikari Field might have plans to offer an "english" translation at one point in the near future. What is obvious, is that they are clearly unfit to do this kind of work and what makes me even more annoyed is the fact they're taking money for it, while Lose seems to be completely unaware with whom they are basically talking with. It's pretty much obvious to me now, Hikari Field is just a scam chinese company, trying to benefit from the current flood of far eastern games, with as low initial costs, as possible. I seriously hope, someone finds enough courage to mail Lose and politely explain them this whole situation as to why they shouldn't trust Hikari Field. I don't want them to have their western reputation completely ruined. That said, wasn't SP actually interested to reserve their whole game lineup?
  12. You could as well learn japanese and stop playing shitty games. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  13. Good lord. So, is this blog more otomege or more BL?
  14. I don't see why would he need to give a facelift to something, that's timeless in design. It's true it could benefit from a bit of a rework to fit modern standards, tho. It's not really the most mobile friendly website out there for now.
  15. Implying Tayutama 2 is even a good vn. First one was, second one... not so. That aside, this "translation" is the best joke ever since Moenovel's first sketchy attempts. I presume LoS preffered Hikari Field, because they probably charged less than english translators I expected no less from the Hitler of eroge industry.
  16. I don't really have the need to watch dubbed anime; did so in the past at times, but it was different; certain 90's shows kind of fit the bill for these, but not any more. There are certain shows that actually do sound as good or even better than the japanese VA (Rune Soldier Louie, for example), but it's often because of the shows themselves; it's much easier to get into voice acting, when it's something you're more familiar with.
  17. This game might be worth picking up now. For research purposes, of course
  18. Lying in bed everyday for as long as possible.
  19. As interesting that game seemed while early in development, I lost my interest after seeing the trailer. Honestly, the story seems to be all over the place and lost much of it's original appeal when less was known. I really don't like the blatant and forced h-aspect, either. Purple Soft games are a hit or miss, although they've mostly been misses so far with their latest releases and I don't feel Aoi Tori will be any different; it just seems to be wrapped in better packaging. Time will tell.
  20. Guess we're still not grown up enough to play eroge by japanese standards
  21. Thank gods they are releasing it, so I won't have to care at all about any potential fuck ups on their side. Tis' a wonderful time to live in. On a sidenote, I had never, ever understood what's so amusing about vn's dealing with astronomy clubs. It's the most bland, cliched and godawful way to tell a story, unless it involves extraterrestrial contacts, space anomalies or large celestial bodies (actually, just rocks) floating through the vast expanses of cosmos. Seriously, as much as watching stars (or more like the dusk/night sky) can be considered both interesting and romantic, reading about people doing so is not.
  22. Sakurai's games have a distinctively feminine vibe to them, but calling them otomege or female-oriented games would be a major stretch. It just so happens Sakurai is a woman herself (a thing that doesn't happen often in the jp eroge industry) and most of her games feature females as lead characters. This obviously makes most of the stories expressed from a female POV, which in turn makes it easier for women to relate to; her games have nothing to do with classic otomege, they are 100% story-driven experiences and even though romance quite often plays a major role, it's a secondary factor in most cases that doesn't tie her stories in any way. In fact, women in her games rarely end up in relationships with other people as means to end their tales.
  23. That's one hell of a master's thesis
