And just when you thought the new generations will be more liberal and open-minded... You were wrong. Sixty years ago they put blame on the rock. Then on the drugs, then on the rap and cartoons. Right now they stigmatize the internet. Within the next decade they will blame genetically engineered catgirls. It's been always like that and I doubt it will ever change. I can only hope you'll be able to raise your children (if you'll ever have any, to start with ) in a more appropriate manner than the previous generations.

Glad to see you guys around here. I read Everlasting Summer during this winter and it was a really memorable experience, perhaps because it reminded me of my childhood. I expect great things to come with this visual novel and by looks you've definately made a step forward, especially in terms of character and event CG's. It's also interesting you're placing the events further back within the last decade, instead relaying on present times. I guess this is the "sci-fi" project you were talking about earlier? If that's the case, I'm really curious how will it evolve. Good luck!

This Show by Rock figure costs roughly $25,000
Narcosis replied to Getsuya's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
You have to agree characters are really charming in case of this show, but I'd rather hire a personal maid, than waste it on such a figurine. -
Favorite Visual Novel publisher/developers?
Narcosis replied to kamiwakai's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Liar-Soft, the now defunct Littlewitch, Nitroplus, Leaf and Alice Soft. I used to like Minori and Key, but that's in the past now. I have a couple of other studios on my list I consider decent, but can't say much about them, since I barely played any of their games. Your tastes are questionable and leave much to desire. -

Eroge. Serious business. -
What are the prequisites for a VN to be adapted into anime?

F4S isn't even a company, and it definately wasn't small -
Looking for a mature/seinen anime
Narcosis replied to Deep Blue's topic in Anime/Manga Recommendations
Not sure if it's to your tastes, but I'd recommend Monster. Either that, or Jin-Roh. Then, there's Casshern Sins. Kurenai is good if you're looking for a more dramatic, slice of life story. Ima, Soko no Iru Boku and Shin Sekai Yori are decent recommendations as well. -
What are the prequisites for a VN to be adapted into anime?
Narcosis replied to GLM4475's topic in Visual Novel Talk
A highly popular and successful title with decent sales. A franchise is a plus, another one goes for a well-established studio with a good backlog. Publishers don't throw money into something, that won't at least pay back and anime industry is always business in the first place. The reason why we don't see that much adaptations is because it's actually difficult to adjust the script. Another reason is that the vast majority of vn's sells poorly and only few of them ever reach a certain degree of popularity. It's often still not enough to ratify an adaptation. That's why only the biggest games make it into the anime industry. -
Only trolls hide their genre. You should know why

Damn, all those ships. I pity my imagination. Didn't saw my name anywhere either and it makes me a little bit relieved.

Something I don't understand about charage and moege
Narcosis replied to starlessn1ght's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Charage has a lot of characters; it focuses on interpersonal development and relationships (sounds so wonderful in theory), but usually it's just a visual novel with more characters you can stand. Moege is everything that gives you lethal diabetes in less than five minutes (unless you're already used to it... or dead) and generally, genre I don't read, nor play. Both types are the curse of modern japanese game industry, since their very existence decimates other genres. Devs believe they are a godsend, even though it's just them being lazy and uninventive. -
The sole thought of waking up to yet another, meaningless day ever since I came back from the hospitalization. Being unable to return to normal life. It's more than enough to turn my days into nightmare fuel.

There are players who can do 6 EX songs in a row. It's a vast difference between someone who can do only two for the same worth. In other words, you have literally no chance to compete against veterans, unless you plan to spend loads of money in the process. I myself can't really bother about a game that revolves around p2w tactics to ensure maximum competitivity. It just shows how much power a franchise full of preety fictional characters has over people. Everyone's ready to hand over their wallets and credit cards just to ensure they'll be able to show off how much they love their waifus. Capitalism, ho.

Umi event. I can only expect things to go batshit crazy later on.

"Liberation Day" - Sunrider Teaser
Narcosis replied to Soulless Watcher's topic in Visual Novel Talk
The last one available was Aldnoah, which is times better and there's Sidonia S2 airing at the moment, which is propably even better. I'm not entirely sure about the lack of space operas, unless you mean grand epic stuff like the Legend of Galactic Heroes. Hopefully not, because we don't need more bloated tapeworms. -
"Liberation Day" - Sunrider Teaser
Narcosis replied to Soulless Watcher's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm actually amazed people managed to get into it so much. I played the first part and everything about Sunrider is so cliched, I couldn't expect myself to waste time on another space opera with mechas. I simply love how the entire crew of a battleship is compromised of females, while the captain suprisingly remains the only male; there's this peculiar feeling the entire theme is just a joke, while the guys had fun playing with all the ideas. I couldn't really bring myself to cope with it's elevated seriousness at certain points. Suprisingly, it's still a decent indie turn-based strategy game, which remains the best thing it has to offer. As for the story, I'd rather watch the Legend of Galactic Heroes from scratch, than play Sunrider again. I'd say, if they will manage to conclude the series and end the story, they will show they're at least capable devs. You can pray their next game will be more original and won't revolve around copying various anime cliches. -
Got a good laugh, thanks. It's even more amusing some people are dead serious about it.

I spent countless hours on some titles, but almost never finished any of the longer vn's in one go. It's often way too much for a single sitting and the longer you sit, the less enjoyable it starts to get if you're forcing yourself to continue. Taking breaks is the best way to go and some titles even require that; having an appropriate ammount of time to digest what you've read, letting it flow and take over your imagination makes it a lot more pleasant. Withdrawal periods happen regardless whether you took in something fast, or not. It's more of a matter, where something was so enjoyable, you simply can't live without it anymore; you've been used and exposed to it so much for extended periods of time. Of course, everything has an end. Then you're left with emptiness in your heart and sadness starts to overwhelm, because you know those blissful moments are no more - the story ends and there's nothing else that can replace it. We often relieve those moments afterwards, until they finally fade away and we're ready to move forward. It is a reading addiction of sorts, just like drugs. A certain state of mind. That's what it is, at least to me.

What were some of your favorite games as a kid?
Narcosis replied to Shikomizue's topic in Gaming Talk
It's wasn't necesarilly for the better, though. The current trend with studios reverting back into retro looks actually shows that people have fonder memories of those older times, where games were much simpler in terms of art and design, but delivered more of a real deal than any of the modern games do. -
I don't feel like it accomplished anything, but it's definately the highest score I ever got in an event. I'll use that another Hanayo for my pure team as well. I'm a bit disappointed, since I'm more interested with making my smile team stronger, since it's been the weakest one of all for weeks, but all I get are constantly pure and cool members and there's no hope for a smile prize member anytime soon, ugh. No luck from the tickets either. I'm lucky it gave me at least the new Maki rare. Also: Kasane is invading my member list. HALP

A milder, western version of Hanabira with a weak excuse for excessive female relations. Not that I mind, it's just going to be what it's meant to be - another mediocre yuri themed vn, just like Hanabira series. Hopefully, it will at least meet people's expectations, which I won't doubt it'll do.

Play the original, ditch the remake. Modern remakes of old games, especially all-time classics make me cringe. Why remake something which was and still remains seemingly perfect? Aside from money milking promises, it often reeks of complete lack of respect towards the original and it's creators. I have to admit what little has been shown looks decent (promising, perhaps?), but I simply can't do anything than shake my head to see even the old-time japanese eroge studios jump onto the global remake bandwagon.

What were some of your favorite games as a kid?
Narcosis replied to Shikomizue's topic in Gaming Talk
You're all so young. I want to cry now. Giana Sisters, Dalek Attack, Archon, Spy vs. Spy, Overlander, Xiphoids. A bit later I remember spending countless hours playing Virus 2000, Recoil, JJ2 and UT. Not sure if anyone even remembers Elvira, Exiled or Chaos Engine... maybe? My gaming history is so vast I can't even actually remember when was the first time ever I actually played a computer game, except for the fact I was very young back then. The only thing I'm amazed about is that I haven't made any games myself yet. If gamers think complex survival games or simulators are a modern thing, they are so damn wrong. All devs do since 90's is constantly reinventing the wheel. -
This game was really something back then when it came out; it's aesthetics and design made it a pinnacle of the rising indie scene. It isn't anymore, though as you look at it in the same way we all use to look at Pacman or Donkey Kong. The highly limited and minimalist approach to the gameplay reminds me to treat Limbo more as an experiment, than actual game but it was a darn beautiful, captivating experience and I don't regret that hour or so I spent playing it. As of now, Limbo might actually fade into obscurity, but it's design inspired countless other developers to strive into reaching a better consensus between art and digital entertainment. I'd wish they made a proper sequel, which would be more of a real lengthy game, rather than a short and shiny tech demo.
