  1. I would share, but I'm actually not home at the moment. Posting from my phone. Plus I'd have to find something I'm proud of enough to share hahah
  2. Nothing much, I keep a journal with me at all times and those fill up pretty fast. I'd like to write more short stories in my down time but I can never find the time to flesh them out.
  3. Pleasure meeting you! I'm far more comfortable writing than I am making art hahah. That being said, I love seeing what others with real artistic talent can do. The most I can do is draw mediocre cartoon characters which would probably look pretty laughable to anyone who can actually draw.
  4. I keep a box of Q-tips on my desk exclusively for this purpose. Dunno why, but I clean mine every day. I just kinda assumed I was some bizarre dude who enjoyed the feel of a freshly swabbed ear. Good to know I'm not the only one.
  5. Wow, thanks a ton Bookworm! I just pre-ordered my copy. Plus that site looks pretty awesome, I'll probably end up using it a whole bunch. You've saved me not only $12, but also a really, REALLY awkward conversation. Good times all around.
  6. I'm actually in a pretty weird situation with JAST right now. I'd love to preorder the physical release of Stein's;Gate, regardless of when it's coming out. I respect the fact that it's even getting localized, and want to support things when they actually happen. Problem is, I don't have a credit card. Typically when I buy things off of the internet, I'll borrow my parents' credit card and pay them back with the money I make from my part-time job. Unfortunately, that would mean linking my dad's card to a distributor with tons of eroge. Regardless of what Stein's;Gate is rated, I know he won't approve of that. So what do you guys think I should do? Should I go through the awkward conversation of trying to explain that Stein's;Gate isn't actually porn, or hope to find a second-hand copy off of ebay or something? The odds of finding one seem really unlikely...
  7. Nothing too Okatu in my room, mostly just games. Sorry about giant pictures, I didn't realize how big they actually were. .__.
  8. Clannad. It was one of the worst crying sessions too because my house was super dry at the time, and I'm prone to nosebleeds. So the scene in the flower field during After Story? It's 1 am in my house and I have a nosebleed, AND I'm crying. So bloody tears. It's probably the least attractive I've ever looked. Also Ever17. (Sora's route made me feel like a dirt bag). I was surprisingly fine through all of Katawa Shoujo...
  9. The cheaper it is, the more inclined I am to give it a shot out of the blue or via recommendation. Anything that's $20+ I'd have to research because it feels more like an investment. As far as game length goes, I never really worry about it before my purchase. I rarely feel "ripped off" because of a simple time figure. If the game is only two hours long but I had fun, I consider it a good use of my money and I'll still recommend it. I bought Wonderful 101 for $60 and it was only about 8-9 hours, but it's my favorite game of last year because the gameplay is fantastic. There's no easy "conversion rate" for hours-to-dollars. Just know that most people probably don't feel the way I do. I'd say compare your game to other indie games on steam, compare their average lengths, and price accordingly.
  10. I actually pitched Juniper's Knot to people with the "It's only 30 minutes long" argument, and just playing that convinced them to buy Dysfunctional Systems.
  11. I definitely think Dysfunctional Systems could have used more dialogue options, and it did feel pretty brief. Regardless, the world they created seemed like it had the capacity for all kinds of neat stories. Plus Winter is a fun character. On the bright side, we are getting a Juniper's Knot... something. I thought the Fiend was adorably charming, so that could translate well into an animated series.
  12. I was wondering if there are any other Dischan fans who were saddened by this news from a couple weeks ago. https://dischan.org/devblog/2014/01/dischan-state-of-affairs/ They're not gone, but it seems Dysfunctional Systems did pretty poorly. I personally adored both Juniper's Knot and Dysfunctional Systems, and it sucks to see western visual novel developers struggle. Did anyone else enjoy their titles? It's been harder to find fans of them ever since their forums shut down.
  13. I think that's a better way to put it than calling it the "treasure" at the end. I was talking to a friend of mine about Katawa Shoujo months ago and he described the H parts as his "reward" for reading the story, and I think that just really rubbed me the wrong way. I feel as if the story should be the reward in and of itself, not something you have to trudge through in order to get to pictures of naked girls. If you go into a VN solely for the H, it's like you're going in for the wrong reasons. I understand the allure of having that goal in mind, but I still think the story is always more important. So seasoning makes sense. It adds spice, but it shouldn't be the main attraction.
  14. I think most of us are happy that at least the forums are up, that way we still get info. Do your best, hope you feel better!
  15. Precisely this. I can think of very few (if any) H-scenes that wouldn't have been more tasteful and just as impactful if they had just done a fade-to-black or something. Take Clannad for instance. Apologies if somebody has said this already, I haven't read the whole thread.
  16. I know it's been said, but freaking Makoto. Makoto was so bad that I couldn't actually make it through the School Days anime. I just gave up halfway through since I really didn't care about any of the characters. Then somebody spoiled the ending for me, so I never felt motivated to go back to it.
  17. I feel like a lot of people have played games with visual novel elements without even realizing it. I loved Phoenix Wright and 999 (Not technically VNs but kinda similar) but I never even knew what a visual novel was. So I guess my first real one was Katawa Shoujo. From there it was Ever17 and then Clannad. I think the one that really grabbed me was Ever17, since I prefer sci-fi settings. Plus it used the visual novel medium in such a clever manner, I couldn't help but love it. Basically, it's a story that would never work in any format other than VN and I thought that was incredible.
  18. Have you seen the bonus alternate universe episodes that focus on Kyou and Tomoyo? Those feel way closer in tone to the game than the first season did to me since they were able to just focus on a single character. (That being said, I don't particularly care for either of those episodes since they feel ultra condensed and awkward, which sucks because Kyou and Tomoyo are my favorite characters ;~; ) I think they did the best job they possibly could trying to convert that game into a show, and had to sacrifice some things in the process. Yeah, basically this hahah
  19. Little Busters is actually next on my to-do list since the last thing I finished was Clannad and I wanted more Key. I'd love to play Steins;Gate too, but I hear that's getting an official English translation, so I might wait for that.
  20. It kinda makes you wonder where he gets them all from ._.
  21. It's cool to see somebody new to visual novels as a genre. I'm new to the forums today too. Mind if I ask which ones you've read?
  22. Hey guys! I'm new. I've been a fan of Fuwanovel for a few months now, but never made a forum account. Guess I was just sorta nervous; I haven't really jumped into a forum before. Still, love what this place is doing and I hope to be a part of it! And for the record, I'm mostly into sci-fi/mystery VNs. 999 first introduced me to the genre, but I fell in love with it after Ever17. Beyond that, anything with solid characters usually gets me hooked.
