  1. Try playing the game, it really gets to you, especially in CGs.
  2. That's different. It's done very cheaply in Canvas 2 and I can confirm it looks awful.
  3. Appreciate the reinforcements, OP.
  4. Thank you for what you're doing and for the food for thought on VN translation.
  5. It was pretty noticeable that Michiru and Yumiko in Kajitsu had a different artist behind them, particularly obvious in the HCGs.
  6. I don't keep .zip, installers or games that I didn't like one bit.
  7. Just finished the long-awaited last volume. 10/10. For a light novel. With my poor imagination I really need all that VA work, BGM and art (a lot more of it than in this work). But the story was superb and there was nothing wrong with it, it really feels like the author writes according to his beliefs and not catering to the audience too much, which is different from the vast majority of Japanese works. That has to be why it's so highly regarded in the west and isn't so popular in Japan.
  8. Memrise recently made some ridiculous changes to the interface, making it oversized and uncomfortable to use. They claim it reduced the load off the servers by 75% but I guess that comes at the expense of it loading 750% longer on the user side of things. I wish all my courses weren't on Memrise, otherwise I would have already switched to Anki which must be more reliable since it's a program and not a website (never used it, could be some glaring faults with it too).
  9. I've played To Heart 2 and Canvas 2 (maybe some others as well) which both have changeable names for the protagonist, however if you didn't change the default name they would use that and it felt right. It would've been nice to have that option here.
  10. Well I wrote a review about this game. I think it's rather overlooked and deserves some attention from the VN community. Fair criticism is welcome. http://steamcommunity.com/id/Funnerific/recommended/320760/
  11. I got a halfway end in Hanahira (same dev) simply by not being embarassed and readily accepting what the partner was suggesting. Then I had to replay a few times to see which choice I made wrong as there are two more and was surprised at the truth.
  12. More News: Considering re-recording VA for MLA intro to replace the Engrish I and others suggested to them that if they do this, they need to make it optional for those that may want the original unintentionally hilarious intro.
  13. Are you sure that's what was used? I don't recall seeing the text say "eishi" much (or at all) after the scenes where the whole deal with TSFs is introduced. Didn't the fanTL use "TSF pilot"?
  14. About half a year ago I was stuck with no technology beyond my smartphone for a long time. At that time, I decided to give light novels a shot. Hakomari was literally the only good thing that happened to me over the hardest four months of my life. If you look at my VNDB you'll see that I rate stuff pretty harshly, but if I could I'd put it among the 9/10 titles over there.
  15. So I played through it, have to say it looked extremely promising for an OELVN (I'm also glad you plan to do the H-scenes).
  16. I was in Singapore once as a kid, my biggest memory is how hot it was even inside an expensive hotel. Are you guys used to it?
  17. I already regret buying Valkyria Chronicles, the story is kind of fun and the heroine is cute so I'm sad to drop it but the game is just too based on luck. The enemy gets more moves than you, they tend to have more accuracy and they don't waste movements while you would take extra interception fire. And there aren't any difficulty settings. The eden* revenue boost is amazing. It must be all the anime fans most of who never played a visual novel but saw an anime-styled game on Steam.
  18. The anime. A certain heroine's arc is expanded greatly and really nothing is lost except for the really short individual romance for each heroine which I didn't really feel in the VN anyway. Also mind the visuals.
  19. No offense to Narcissu fans but had that been my first VN I never would've picked up another one, probably (the heavily limited art assets being one of the reasons). It's just not a good demonstration of the medium in my opinion.
  20. Have it in my wishlist, will definitely be buying it in the Summer sale. Oh and it has Japanese UI too.
  21. Utsuge isn't just a tearjerking drama. It is basically the equivalent of tragedy. Nakige is a tearjerker too but it has a happy ending. These terms only apply to visual novels though, notice the -ge suffixes.
  22. I second this. Don't let the harem-like common route discourage you, it's very much straight 1-on-1 once you get in a route and there's no H before that. Oh and there's still tons of H-scenes.
