  1. They might as well, that's what's the point. There's no way they're getting a good translation out by September 2016 that doesn't use either machine TL or the existing fan TL. As if that's not enough, it won't even be a full (but all-ages) version. Edit: I am mad because the standard version will most likely cost as much as a complete one should. There is no proof, of course.
  2. Let's release routes as DLC! Think of all these people who only want one ending and will overpay for the full game they'll never finish. I support the idea of 'more options for the consumer'.
  3. Looking at your VNDB list and not finding these H2O -Footprints in the Sand-. The plot is very different from the anime, if I'm right about the reason you haven't read it. (less plot in comparison, but it's more atmospheric and makes more sense). If you ask me what's the best thing about the game, I'd say it's the music. Haruka Kanata. It might look like a moege on the outside, but don't judge a book by its cover. It's by SORAHANE, that should give you a clue on what degree of plot it has (though Sakura, Sakimashita is the one game by that company I've yet to read). Just make sure you install the latest patch (and there's a lot of patches that have come out since the release): the game is famous for being riddled with bugs. Oh and it's unhookable, though you probably don't care.
  4. While the sexual content in itself is usually irrelevant, it somewhat sets the target audience - and the developers may have to adjust the plot accordingly. As for the language, all it takes is asking a native English speaker with knowledge of Japanese (perhaps a professional translator even). Surely it can't be that hard. But they never do it.
  5. Nukige is a game that gives priority to sexual content over story, different from VNs that combine substantial story with high sexual content.
  6. You're confusing eroge and nukige, it appears. All nukige are eroge, but not all eroge are nukige. The plot-packed G-senjou no Maou is an eroge, for instance.
  7. The standards and points of view are different. The Japanese see eroge as entertainment, we call the same thing visual novels and see it as literature. When was the last time you or anyone saw good and proper English in an untranslated Japanese work? The answer is never, because they just don't care - all that matters is that they shove in some English and make it look cool. That's merely one area where our standards are different.
  8. Kotori: just good Chihaya: action-packed Lucia: dorama-packed Shizuru: idiocy-packed Akane: more idiocy packed Moon and Terra: the reason we love it I just hope they don't change it for the worse.
  9. The more I read VNs, the more I come to realise how bullshit almost all of them are. I've had suspension of disbelief broken almost in every VN I've read in the past year. Sometimes I look back on the stuff I enjoyed in the past and wonder how could I possibly have liked it. So no, I don't believe almost any VN, and I might not believe one that deserves to be believed simply because of my past experiences.
  10. It abuses cliche and has extremely generic characters. Should be more reasons, but it's been a long time since I watched it.
  11. Short answer, it sucks.
  12. I can get madly addicted to video games. Staying up until 4 AM when I have college the following day, repeating that several times in a row, skipping meals, all that. Pretty much the only way I can stop that is by deleting the game in question, hence my suggestion. Visual novels are nice in the sense that they have an ending (or several), though a really good one can be just as destructive (but since it's usually just one or two routes that are good, things aren't as bad).
  13. They squeezed the whole Yosuga no Sora into 12 episodes. It didn't have anything like a central plot or a true route, though.
  14. Perhaps they didn't want to spoil you on all the good characters, how about that?
  15. Some of the best comedy out there - provided you can speak moonspeak. https://vndb.org/v13892
  16. And there I was thinking I was the only one who actually liked Soul Link. It gets way too much hate for how fun it is (supposed to be).
  17. You're forgetting the greatly reduced mosaics.
  18. Remember SubaHibi or Ley Line? Do you still get hyped for fan translations that are supposedly right around the corner?
  19. Well don't get your hopes up for it, since it only pretends to be a plot game and reverts to the moege level when push comes to shove. As someone who finished it, I hope something better gets translated instead.
  20. tfw everyone in this thread seems to have missed Kure's latest work and brings up Princess Evangile.
  21. How does sexism come into this, exactly?
  22. Finished AQUA by SORAHANE. I suppose I overestimated my tolerance for sci-fi. It's a story set in future Japan and technological advancements have brought about floating terminals and such but above all holograms with mass. Frankly there's probably much more that could've been made with that kind of technology, but we've got what we've got. The VN is heavy on slice of life scenes, throwing in some plot from time to time. In fact, all of the initial three routes didn't leave any impact on me since the game reveals very little at that time. The reason for that is the presence of a central story in the game, where it will finally move from the countless SoL to the long-awaited explanations and developments... after some more SoL, they know you want more of that. Don't get me wrong though, there is quite a lot of plot in this game and the last thing you want to do is open those spoilers on VNDB if you're at least somewhat interested. What is my biggest issue with it, you might ask? It can in fact be pretty well described by none other than one of the game's characters (possible spoilers). Let's just say it's nowhere near hard science fiction. The soundtrack is good and fitting in a nakige title. Here's a sample. And now for the biggest drawback: no route (or H) for the best girl. Not only is she hands-down the most interesting and lovable character in the game, she actually has a huge amount of screen time, CGs and is practically at the center of the plot. It was a major disappointment. If you're interested in SORAHANE's works, I can personally recommend Haruka Kanata. It is much more down-to-earth and believable than this game. In fact there are many reasons for suggesting it, but I'd rather not spoil any of it for you. Just make sure you install the right patch, as it is unplayable without one due to all the bugs and crashing. P.S. Maybe I should write these in a fuwablog instead?
  23. Rewrite, obviously. The routes vary in quality due to the game having several writers though, with the true route potentially holding the most value. Or you could end up hating it, it depends.
