I tried setting up the VNR, and I got it to work on normal visual novel programs.. still having trouble with getting it to work on PPSSPP v0.9.8 no luck with the PSP Fushigi Yuugi games. maybe I'm doing it wrong or that game isn't supported.

Lump of Sugar Opening Theme Similarities
Cyrillej1 replied to OriginalRen's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I think the most notable similarity is the voice.. otherwise the tune/song still sounds different enough for me xD. I liked Nursery's song more, but I liked Prism's video more. Just from watching those two openings, I would choose to play the Prism game ^^ The cutesy song intro (even though it can be considered childish) seems to make the girls presented in the VN come off even more cute which could help draw in. Perhaps that's just how it makes me feel, lol. And I think the childish aspect, can make people feel young again when playing the game (if they are in their older years). -
Wow... and you played through them all? Sorry if it's a wrong assumption, but how long did you study Japanese before you were able to play through those kinds of games with ease? If you ever start on Kanji, I suggest the Kodansha Kanji Learner's Dictionary. It's really awesome.. I bought one brand new at a local bookstore for only $10. Ohh, I like your tastes ;p. Thanks for the posting the picture, neat! Makes me want to gather all mine together and take a picture too.. lol. How much did you spend for the Fate Stay Night VNs?

Yes, I think it'd be a good first game to try. I haven't tried it for a while, but I remember it not being too difficult to understand.. as long as you have dictionary and some basic grammar, you could understand the gist of it enough to play. Do you have a PS3.. I personally would recommend that version since the graphics quality is so much better, plus on a bigger screen, the Japanese writing would look much more clear (not as scrunched up compared to small DS screen)..

Once I started studying Japanese and thought I knew it decently enough.. I got the urge to import Japanese video games. Well, then I realized they were still a bit too difficult for me to play without constantly stopping and checking up the dictionary and such.. lol. Still, one day I would like to play them without having any/little difficulty. So, it's one of the things that keeps me motivated xD. I was just wondering has anyone else imported video games? Which ones? And you can share if you've been able to play through them or not. I'm just curious how many imported Japanese games others have. If you've finished them, you can share whether it was good or not ;p and difficulty level. Here's my current list: 1) ホワイトアルバム (PS3) White Album only played the intro. Kanji level was still a bit too much for me and I only knew basic level grammar, lol. 2) ニノ国 白き聖灰の女王 (PS3) Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch I stopped at the part where I headed to the shrine in the desert (with the yellow haired girl)? I forget why I stopped actually... xD 3) テイルズ オブ ヴェスペリア (PS3) Tales of Vesperia I actually haven't even played it yet.. just really liked the english version I played and wanted it for the PS3, plus extra story & characters xD. But I doubt my level is good enough to play it yet anyways. 4) 月蝕の仮面 零 (Wii) Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse I actually bought this to play the English Patch before I knew any Japanese at all.. I may try playing it again someday without it^^ 5) タイムトラベラーズ (PSVITA) Time Traveler Well, I couldn't help it considering I love time travel stories... It has furigana so I thought it'd be a good game to practice on too. Buut still haven't tried it yet, being lazy I just watched Zakobot's videos, since I found out he was doing it at the time I just got it, lol. 6) テイルズ オブ デステイニー2 (PSP) Tales of Destiny 2 only played the intro. I plan to try playing them again when I feel my Japanese is at a higher level.. especially kanji!

-Mostly, anime/VNs & video gaming, movies & tv-shows. -Studying Japanese, it can be fun having something I try to improve on everyday. -I like to draw sometimes (but haven't for a long time). The feeling of being totally focused on something & zoned out while drawing can be nice. -An interest in Psychology/Sociology, learning about people's behaviors/relationships. I like reading things about it.

You can send me a PM if you'd like a list of RPGs for the sony systems. xD I think I played/familiar with most of them that are available in English, so I could recommend certain ones for you depending on the type you're looking for. I know you said PC though, but perhaps they can be played on an emulator if you're ever interested in trying that.

It may be a bit strange, but I always watch English videos with English subtitles... it even helped me learn new vocabulary/how to spell certain words I wasn't familiar with and such.. I think it may have even improved my own English just a little. Perhaps you could watch English movies with subtitles, and just read out loud after hearing them speak.. or even read out loud along with them. You could always rewind and practice if you don't understand something. It might be a bit similar, but currently I'm trying to learn Japanese.. and my speaking is probably not very good since I don't have much opportunity to speak as well. I try to practice by speaking out loudly to myself as I read anything, along with visual novel game voices, or just repeating phrases to myself I've heard in anime/movies. I wonder if there are any English video games that have the function of 'repeating voices' like how most Japanese visual novels do... I'll try looking through some of my video games, and see if they have anything like that and then I'll edit this post if I find anything Hope you find something that works!

So, what did everyone think about today?
Cyrillej1 replied to Kimanor's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
I remember watching NHK a long time ago (been years).. but from what I can recall, I actually did not hate Misaki but sort of liked/related to her in a way. If anything it was Satou that annoyed me more. But maybe I'll have to watch it again to really remember how I felt. I know I cried a lot in the end though. Oh, and I thought about how cool Erza in Fairy Tail was B) -
I think (Shy) characters are cute in their mannerisms and such Examples (Nako Oshimizu) from Hanasaku Iroha (Sae Nakata) from Amagami SS Although I also think Tsunderes can be cute when they act shy/embarrassed too.

I prefer Anime for action genres, such as Naruto, Sword Art Online, Fairy Tail, etc. since the battle scenes are cooler and more epic to watch. You get music, sound effects and all that, and can actually see what's happening (like how fast etc.) I prefer Manga for horror/romance/slice of life genres.. it just seems to have more feelings portrayed in the way it tells the story, and can also use your imagination more.

Cyrillej1 replied to eclipsezero's topic in Gaming Talk
coool. I wish SC would come out sooner, but I'm happy as long as it'll eventually come out here xD. I've already played FC on the PSP and Loved it. -
I took the test for fun and got (Chaotic Neutral). Not sure what it's for though.

Man Behind the Curtain - Tay + OriginalRen Chats
Cyrillej1 replied to OriginalRen's topic in Members' Lounge
Thank you Tay & Ren for doing the podcasts. I listened to both of them and they were interesting -
I buy the golden curry sauce mix from walmart.. potato, carrots, onion, beef (or chicken), (sometimes other veggies). Stew, put the curry cubes in, mix & stew for awhile for the sauce to thicken and so the meat & veggies soften. Then I put it over the rice, and ta daa~! I'm not that good at cooking at all, but this is very easy to make that even I can't fail at it.. lol. And it's actually really good

That was fun to make ^^ cuute~! I didn't know how to put glasses on, or I would have put it on the school one ;p normal school (ponytail)

New here! (but not so new to Visual Novels)
Cyrillej1 replied to edwd2's topic in Introduce Yourself
Welcome to Fuwanovels~ Your knowledge of languages is quite impressive! I hope I can be good enough to reach N2 someday too -
1) Eat Sushi. It just sounds healthier than eating pizza every day. Plus I like rice & seafood. Would you rather: 1) Have the ability to reset your entire day. Once the day passes midnight, you can only reset that next day, etc. So your time travel ability can only travel within a length of a day, letting you keep re-living that single day over and over if you'd like. You will remember everything. or 2) Have the ability to reset your entire life back to when you were first conscious as a child. You'd have all your memories intact, but you'll have to re-live your entire life over each time. When you activate the time travel, you don't have a choice but to always start over from the very beginning.

I personally think, out of respect for the author's work.. It's best to try translating as closely as possible to the original meaning that the author tried to convey. However, I think it's okay to make some adjustments if it sounds awkward or unnatural in the target language. After all, if it's being translated in English, it should be readable & understandable for the English audience.

Whaaat, if they will be my last ever for both options... then I may as well pick 1) so I can have unlimited choice in finding the one I may enjoy & remember fondly on. Would you rather: 1) Grow every hair on your body forever and never have it cut or shaved. or 2) Grow your fingernails and toenails forever, and never have them cut or shortened.

Or what about... Kind of like the (Pinned) Skills Volunteer thread, except it'll be a (Pinned) Job Recruitment thread. It would be nice if the projects recruiting positions could post on that single thread (VN/job/requirements/difficulty level/etc.) and they can edit it when they are no longer looking. That way, Volunteers could easily see what's available to work on, and volunteer for VN job positions they'd like to help with. It'd just be a nice optional way, if the Volunteer wants to look for something that interests them instead of waiting for replies and having to decline if they aren't interested in a suggested project. It may be easier to look through instead of going through each project name in the Volunteer section, and not being sure whether its still actively looking for people. I also like this idea. And when you press on those tags, it'll show up all the projects "Recruiting (job)" specifically. Definitely would make it easier to look through projects actively looking for that certain position.

Yup, sent it to Zoom after I checked it. Thanks for helping!
