It is was pretty cool/interesting concept making the player feel like they were actually an important part of the story, and the characters/feelings is supposed to be 'real'. I don't think I've encountered any game like that in an Rpg before. So I understand Earthe's role being the silent protag and it does work quite well. (just can still be a bit annoying xD) @Clephas, I really liked the Suikoden and Grandia series too^^ (My favorites are Suikoden5, and Grandia2).

I agree with the First/Fourth comment. You definitely need to know about Ciel Nosurge to fully enjoy Ar Nosurge. Everything is constantly connected to past events/relationships in the first game. You miss out on so much without it, and everything will seem random when they're not. I actually got a bit annoyed by Earthes's role... it's mostly single sentence responses, so the dialog between him and others don't have much depth compared to Cass/Delta. The only plus side, is that you can pick some funny/mean responses more often. The battle system is Super easy even on normal mode. Later into the game, just in a single battle you could collect over 20k+ Dive points because of the xbonus. The last dungeon, I got over 100k DP in a single battle... so going through the Genometrics can be really easy too (probably not a bad thing).. Anyways, I just finished the game, and really liked it overall (even though the battles were quite easy and can get repetitive, I really liked the characters/story)

I wanted to try translating for the same reasons you mentioned. I only briefly translated for a project and was new to doing it. I didn't really have any strict schedule.. it was up to me how much I translated, but it's nice to do enough to at least keep making some progress. The project I volunteered for gave me separate scripts of special events for a certain girl's route (couple hundred lines each). So I made it a goal to at least finish one script event a week (sometimes 1-2hr a day until finish, and took a break.. or just did it all in a day, break). The way I did it, I typed up my own translations on a separate text document.. and once I it checked over and was happy with it, I re-typed it up on the shared document project (where all other members had access to it). Overall, the translating process didn't seem too complicated.. just translate what you can, transfer it over, and the editors, w/e will check it, and maybe get a hold of you if anything is wrong. Other projects might work differently, but I'm guessing it's mostly similar. From that experience... I learned, it's a lot harder than I thought it'd be to fan-translate xD. It's different to do it for fun vs. translating for a project (more pressure). I can say for sure, it's best to choose something you are really excited/want to translate, otherwise it's easy to lose motivation.. it just becomes busywork and added stress. If you love it, there's more motivation to stick it all the way through. Also, make sure the level of the VN/game you're translating is the right difficulty for you.. because if it's not, you will easily get burnt out from the frustration and feel demotivated... plus it'll take longer to translate. You can join a project where everyone has a role. It helps you get involved and contribute to something you wouldn't be able to do yourself, and probably faster since more people helping out. You could also choose to do it yourself if you have the knowledge/tools.. it'll be nice to do everything at your own pace, but also more work/time (I've seen people do this well too). I suggest you try translating some things on your own for fun first, and see how you like it and to also get a better grasp of your Japanese level before finding something to seriously translate^^ Just my own personal experience/thoughts though!

Someone showed me this before.. my first reaction was, okay that's pretty interesting.. but horrible too. It's creative and interesting how something like this was made for fun and actually had an effect on people irl. But the way it was used is horrible. I don't like things that harm others, especially something serious like disease, even if it's supposed to be a joke... It's just really immature.

Ah, I wanted to add. This is probably my favorite video game song in english (Wild Arms - Wings). I even memorized the whole song^^ The most epic theme songs for me have been Lufia2 - Sinistral battle theme, and Xenogears - Flight.

Having a superpower like Chelsea from Akame ga Kill would be kind of cool. I could change myself to anything I want. I guess it's also similar to something like Mystique from X-men too. or the power to the instantly teleport myself or anything around me, similar to Kuroko in The Railgun (except infinite distance, and I could teleport things without directly touching too).

I saw that game before and wanted to try playing it! But there was a lot of kanji, so I struggled with it a bit. ; ; You could tell me about it some time if you don't mind^^

Ahhhhh, I like that series too! Who is your favorite couple?! At first I liked Yuuna & Nanami, but recently I've changed my favorite couple to Miya & Risa^^ (their story isn't translated in english yet though). Welcome~!

I also really liked Lilly's route the most in Katawa Shoujo. ^^ I wish you luck on your Japanese studies! Once you start reading in Japanese, you can pick up a lot of extra nuances which can be fun/interesting. Look into text-hooking programs! You could try Crescendo It's a school-life romance type of story.

True, but the method seems to be helping me so far so I'll be continuing it until then. If I use Atlas translation, I rely too much on the english and end up not trying to read/practice Japanese reading at all. It's only tiring if the level of what you're reading is Too High where you have to stop at every other word to look up. If you can read at least 70-90%, then the words you look up will be easier to remember, especially if you see it used often since it will stand out.. and could always add those words to a study list if you wanted to. I am going to try the 10k Anki and see how that goes though. Also the reason why I use that method is because I guess I'm a bit tired of straight JP studying and want to do something different sometimes, like a bit of studying while I play and have fun too.

What about just having the machine translation using the JParser only? I try to read it on my own in Japanese only, and if I really don't know or remember, then I scroll over to see the english definition. Then sometimes I'll see that same word used over and over, and will eventually start to remember it and not have to look it up. That's really good for 5months time

I downloaded the Anki 10K set so hopefully that will help me build my vocabulary ^^ I didn't really learn kanji by RTK method, so I'm not sure if going on that koohii website will help.. but will try it out too. I didn't even know about possibly text-hooking Light Novels, so that might be cool if I ever wanted to try that out. ありがとうございます！

My first playthrough, I chose to do Hanako's route since I'm a sucker for shy characters since I can relate to them, and she seemed mysteriously interesting. I played Lily's route second. She's a really kind character, its hard not to like her. I liked them both, but if I had to really pick a favorite... I guess Lily. I haven't played any other routes yet, but if I did, I'd go for Emi's next.

You knew so many spoilers before even playing the actual game? Why would you do that! That's the best part about playing it, is to have those 'omfg!" moments .

I think you could still play 2... they do try to explain and summarize the first game for you, but not in detail. So you will be missing a lot in terms of knowing full story and enjoying it more. The game may seem very random unless you understand the background story better. So its more epic if you play #1 first.

Its not just similar look, even the usual personality she plays is somewhat similar. I actually thought it was her first time I played through it xD.

Is may just be me, but the girl in Last of Us really looks like Ellen Page. It'd be cool if she could play that role. Well, I'd watch it if it came out as a movie since I liked the game.
