And you can skip past it by just doing what you already did and copy another movie file in its place (maybe the ever17.e17 that way you just get two opening movies in a row and you can just skip the second one) You can also rename the files with .mp4 and watch them in any player.

No, REALLIVE.EXE.manifest is a different file. You need to use the other one with no manifest extension.

Dunno why it would try to open it as an archive.. ( I get the same error if I manually rename Reallive.exe as Reallive.zip or any other archive file extension). So make sure that it is actually an executable. Also try disabling your antivirus / adding reallive to your antivirus exceptions since some antivirus software falsely flag the file as dangerous.

I have no idea what could have caused the problem you had. I tried it myself on XP, 7 and 8 and had it running without problems. Good that you found a solution and hopefully it will help the next person having trouble.

I did a quick test on a fresh windows xp installation and had no problems.

Like Mephisto says it's definitely overheating. I just checked the game and it was running at 1000fps so it managed to warm up my desktop with relatively good cooling nicely lol.
