Ah that's right, the dubbing was ripped from the ps2 version iir~ Hadn't considered that, as it was included with the pc version floating around back then

Not completely true, Kana Ueda was in the original F/SN (though the actual H-scenes were unvoiced, likely for the reasons you touch on). But at the same time, i swear I've heard her actually do some voice work in Hscenes, but perhaps I'm confusing her for someone else, as I cannot recall the VNs that I thought I heard her in~ EDIT: nope, looks like I was wrong - looked up her work profile and don't see any other eroge. Was a bit surprised to see that she voiced Kohaku in the Tsukihime anime that never existed ~

Agreed, it's very faithful to the VN, so I doubt you'd find it any better. I personally enjoyed it a fair amount (except for the cop-out b.s. ending), but it's one of those stories you have to be in the mood for, can empathize with the characters, and can invest yourself emotionally. If you find it hard to become attached to the characters, it will just come across as dull and/or melodramatic.

One thing I just considered about h-scenes in Fate route: (kinda spoiler, and speculation)

The last screenshot felt suspect, but the rest seemed passable.

Finished NagiAsu - it was pretty decent, I have no actual complaints about pacing or storytelling. A few of the girls deserved better, but that's more just personal empathy speaking. Wasn't "too" frustrating to watch, though I found some of the characters (esp. Kanama - think that's his name, the blond guy constantly stuck in the friendzone) obnoxious at times. The series actually felt relatively accurate - if perhaps overblown - to the complex and stormy emotions, as well as the potential selfishness revolving around the concept of love. IE - is love really for the sake of another, selflessly? or is love a possessive desire for the self? I think this anime silently presents those questions very well. Side note: the boys' uniforms (the sailor suit style) were tacky af. lol I mistook them for girls at first glance. Was a good recco, thanks.

Looks interesting, def going to watch it next. Love polygons drive me insane - but if done well, I don't mind. re: Kokoro Connect "although that first arc has a bit of that fanservicey gag stuff," I don't mind it in certain doses, but if a show is saturated with it - I lose my patience quickly, heh. @NosebleedI was able to watch (and mostly like) Toradora, so I'm hoping I have the patience to enjoy Nagi. Have to wait and see just how teen-drama it gets I soppose At the moment I came across a completely random show that has been a pleasant surprise to watch - though it is showing its age. Scrapped Princess. Great characters in it, and while nothing terribly unique, a interesting story all the same. EDIT: Finished Scrapped Princess - wasn't bad, liked almost all of it - but the conclusion was pretty unsatisfying, and how a few key things were handled. =/ Starting to watch Nagi right now, my 1st impression just watching the first 5 mins: Hikari is an asshole. Nice visuals though, and the setting is pretty cool.

@Fred the Barber @jaxter0987 Thanks you two tbh I've forgotten the names of most of the series I've watched, lol. With exception of the ones that really stood out, or had a english/unique name. (Gosick, Dusk maiden of Amnesia, SAO, Plastic Dreams, Certain Scientific index, Kokoro Connect, Shana, Utawarerumono) Watched a lot more, but those stand out in my mind. Basically I tend to favor Romance (single girl, not harem), drama, suspense, and various helpings of dry humor (the sort that doesn't always leap in your face with gags, but simply "exists" - can't really put my finger on a good description). By drama, I don't mean "love triangle drama" (though if done well, I don't mind it), I more just mean some overshadowing "trouble" that needs to be overcome by various characters in order to grow/live. Man, as I reread this post I'm writing - I'm noticing I've become really effing picky, lol Thanks for the name drops, they don't seem familiar at a glance, so I'll look them up and see what happens, maybe I'll be lucky with them.

Anyone feel like reccomending me a semi-serious series? Nothing ultra-dark, but something that avoids using a ton of stupid slapstick "oops" scenes (ie, protag walks in on girl changing, lulz ensue). Been getting duds in my hunt for something interesting, closest I came was GATE, but even that was sort of meh. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for anime atm

Tried watching Guilty Crown the other day. Boy was that ever a mistake Visuals were decent up to the point I quit, but pretty cringy story with pacing problems, and shamelessly drawing more then just a little too much inspiration from NGE.

Cute neko-esque Tsumiki get! 10/10

Only in the most basic of senses - it's more like a digital manga then a VN, as it turns out.

I'm surprised nobody has talked about the full fan TLs for both of the Rondo games by Tinkerbell - currently going through the 1st, not bad so far~

(next day) Sorry for having been a drama-queen, folks. Patience was tested and I let it out in the wrong place. Embarrassed at my outburst, esp. since not even Sana can crack me, usually (I still enjoy our debates). In the future, I'll just bring such matters to a mod - or more likely I'll just go gank newbies on a pvp server to relieve myself. (not a fan of tattling, I generally try to resolve stuff myself.) Anyways, to put this thread back on track with zero subtly - here's a pic of the best girl from TB:

Now, I hardly consider myself an English major - but with almost 40 years under my belt, I've had plenty of time to read traditional works (before my eyes reached a point I could no longer~). I'm confident in my literacy enough that I would notice when something does - and does not - "read well". And I like to pretend I have reasonable standards - you may have missed my long-winded post about linguistics and higher English literacy? Regardless, at this point it's just turning into a dick waving contest about taste and opinions. I've actually had to deal with a handful of personal attacks due to my last few posts, so I'm just about fed up with the topic. Anyone with a problem with my (fairly reasonable) stance can fuck off and ignore me - live and let live. And If that causes me to lose respect with people here, to hell with them then.
-
I was actually thinking that too, tbh - I could tell from the voice acting it has a very loose feeling to begin with Don't really have a counter other then English looseness apparently bothers me more then Japanese looseness~ Though I was actually fine with how you guys reworked Lilith (with maybe one or two exceptions), so I guess I don't really know wth I want I mean, I never had such gripes with Ayakashibito - and its TL was just as quirky and loose as TB - so I really have no idea what it is that bugged me about it. Perhaps Ayakashibito's TL was more literal? Or simply a difference in style of English? I'll have to re-read it, to try and figure out why I'd have such a conflicting stance towards two works by the same author.
